Can Comics & Cartoons be considered Sup Forums?

What did you mean by this?

only if you don't enjoy them.

i mean it has comics and a cartoon series
as long as it doesnt get to sidetracked discussion should be fine

>that time Kirk played Devil's Advocate for the Devil

Only the comics and the cartoons, of course.

>klingons with rigged heads in the 2250's

No, I don't want that

>that time Kirk was a Nazi

>it's the shitty nuTrek designs
why

The animated series? Sure.
The live-action series and films? No, go to

Because they won't stop until you like nutrek.

>Sir, if I may say: You make a convincing nazi.

VERY ATTRACTIVE FOR A HYOO-MON

>tfw Harlan Ellison never got to write for TAS nor did his original vision of City on the Edge of Forever get made.
>tfw Russell Bates wrote only one episode because Roddenberry was over protective of Star Trek and threw away so many scripts to TOS.
>tfw Russell Bates got Star Trek the only Emmy ever won for TOS crew.
Is there a reason Trekkies defend the trash that is TOS?

>That time McCoy and Spock fought Romans

Legacy mostly
Everyone knows DS9 is best trek

Ave, true to Caesar.

>>tfw Harlan Ellison never got to write for TAS nor did his original vision of City on the Edge of Forever get made.
they made a graphic novel version of it, it's pretty good

This

DS9 is the best overall, TOS is second best

Harlan also wrote about his experience with Paramount, Roddenberry, and how he wrote the damn thing.
I like TNG more. It's a more comfortable show to watch.

Lord no it's not. TOS is out-and-out boring trash for large stretches of its run. TOS is only second best if you only judge based on the very best episode in the series, because outside of those episodes it's a whole giant pile of nothing
DS9 > TNG > Good TOS > Enterprise > Bad TOS > Voyager

Is everyone polarized about DS9? Around here people say it's the best quite often, but nobody I knew got into it, and I remember trying to watch it back when it was new a few times and it didn't really stick with me.

DS9 suffers from the same thing that hampered early TNG
By season 3 everyone had settled in and really found their own voice, and started working in earnest to make DS9 into its own thing

I'm probably going to marathon it and give it another chance. Hopefully it's on netflix or something.

>those are Klingons

By Kahless, this a dishonor.

All the treks are on netflix
Once the Dominion gets involved, DS9 is the best trek by a country mile, and Sisko is far and away the best captain even is he does overact

how did we go from this

to this?

How did we go from on-topic...

...to off-topic?

because you're a faggot

>heavy breathing
which episode was this

Technically it's on-topic as a comic explains how Khan underwent cosmetic surgery.

Alternate reality

Mudd's Passion

...

That final episode tho....that disappointing conclusion to the pa'wraith story....

>They completely forgot the "Bajor joining the federation" plot

DS9 is fantastic. TNG is the only Trek that's on it's level.

Any worse than the TNG finale being a stupid fucking Q episode?

What are you talking about? TNG's finale was great.

How much would the very idea of the Green Lanterns piss off Picard?

...

Depends. If it's one of the really old ones, he might archeology sperg to them.

"You know. 1966? 79 episodes, about 30 good ones."

I'm not going to defend the entire thing. A lot of TOS is bad. At the same time, I think you have to take things on their own terms. TOS is interesting to me because it's so obviously experimental TV. It's neat to watch something that would almost become a genre unto itself being set up by people who were obviously just desperately improvising a show. And sometimes it even managed to work.

OMFG, seriously? Why did they feel the need to add some furry bitch? I didn't watch Star Trek so low class sluts could steal Uhura's screen time.

I watched Star Trek because I shipped her and Spock. FFS.

Just going to leave this here.

>Once the Dominion gets involved, DS9 is the best trek by a country mile
kek. It's usually said that they ruined the show.

>That time Q sent Janeway into the past and turned her into a Triceratops for a laff

By people who haven't watched it, maybe.

We're still running with this, huh?

Still?

There were a couple threads some time ago where people started this headcanon that General Zera was actually Captain Janeway (since she is also voiced by Kate Mulgrew).

Should we send a link of that thread in an email to Katherine Mulgrew?

I think she'd be deeply disturbed since it segued into a fantasy of Zera engaging in a sexual relationship with a human slave

I'm sure she's been exposed to plenty of Janeway/Seven fantasies before.

That doesn't mean she wants it sent to her, y'know

Please don't do anything to discourage her from voicing more cartoons. I want to hear more of her, not less.

So much for that talk of not going on the NuTrek Timeline.

What did Spock do to their timeline.

A Goldfish Jim

What?

I dumped a Tank of Goldfish into their primordial soup.

Well... that explains things.

I kinda love her voice.

The show has to be marathoned. When it was airing one new episode a week with hiatuses between seasons it was harder to follow all the continuity of the show and given how character driven the show was, the character development was subtle. Also if you missed an episode chances are you missed something important in later seasons.

Not that you should skip the early seasons.

The show did an excellent job establishing the relationships between characters in early seasons, especially Jake and Sisko, Kira and Odo, Quark and Odo, Dax and Sisko, to name a few and the characters that didn't mesh got worked on like with O'Brien and Bashir not liking each other at the start and Bashir being a shit in general at the start of the show and growing out of it.

She's been in an Adult Swim parody show. Doubt anything done here could phase her.

Not to worry, I won't skip seasons if the early stuff is too dry. I hate feeling like I'm missing parts of a story.

She was? A Robot Chicken sketch or something?

Fuck no.
Spock idioto

Have you ever seen "Trekkies"? She already knows about Star Trek porn, but keeps going to conventions.

I haven't. She was bound to know about that much, at least.

NTSF:SD:SUV::

A parody crime show.

>Spock is more yellow than Sulu

Enterprise is nowhere near better than anything Star Trek has to offer except maybe the latest movies. Voyager is leagues better than Enterprise.

It's one of the best Q episodes, right up there with the series premier and the Borg one.

what was the in universe explanation for the Kingons looking different in TOS and Next Generation?

Klingons tried to make their own Khans and fucked up, and the only cure had some side effects.

Since they rule over a post-Warp semi-civilized galaxy, not hugely.

So we've got just the ones with facial hair. The ones with the known ridges which came to be thought of as the standard (ones from TOS were mutants or altered spies or something)

Now these guys who look more like Tolken orcs or something out of Riddick.

I think the designs could work for something, but not Klingons.

The black pointy armor doesn't fit the aesthetic of known Klingons well.

What did you think happened to the crew of the Enterprise E after Nemesis Sup Forums? What awesome adventures did Cpt Picard, Cdr Madden and co get up to?

That's because Asians aren't actually "yellow", and Spock is actually a very light green.

knowing about star trek porn doesn't equal being sent porn where she's a triceratops that sexually abuses prisoners of war, man

Because JJ just didnt give a shit. Nu TREK was created on the basis that created Voyajerks and Enterprise: That Star Trek fans have such low standards that they'll take anything shat into their mouths with the TREK stamp on it and not only like it, but beg for more

>Can Star Trek be considered Sup Forums?
Yes.

tfw...
> no more cartoons or tv shows with her
> no action figures or comics

why?

The amount of people going "well it's something." over this shambling mess makes me sad.

...

I'm particularly butthurt over shippers. Kirk and Spocked INVENTED slash in the west, yet somehow most of the newcomers to this aspect of the franchise just... stick to the movies. Like, I get it they see TOS and for some godforsaken reason decide they like nuTrek better, but someone saying shit like "the relationship of Kirk and Spock is fundamentally the same in both versions" shows such a basic lack of understanding that it makes me rage.

...

Well least she isn't a space salamander again. And fugging.

She's still a absentee mother. Eh she probably nuked the planet or something. She'd shoot the lizard kids I'd they showed up probably.

They probably black hole'd that planet.

They used a yellow makeup base with a bit of a green tint to it on TOS

I hate when stuff is tagged as both

They're not the same!

And it's always fic written with nutrek in mind, it's never the other way around.

So what are the best Trek comics? Don't really mind which era but would prefer TOS as Bones is the best

>Have neat compromise with Kilngon's having Helmets/Masks with the ridges in 2009 Abrams Trek
>Nothing else in that timeframe uses it.

Occasionally I see something that's clearly TOS tagged as both to get more hits but that's less common

The DC books from the 80s and early 90s seem pretty good

Sup Forums has the best Star Trek threads.
Just stick with the comics and cartoons with the characters, there are plenty of comics.

What gets me about this new show is that there are so many species that could be more fleshed out, like the gorn, andorians, and the breen, but we get this shit

It's an incredibly important series for Western culture. Not just for TV, but for technology, and multiculturalism.

Also, when you're studying Shakespeare, it is a blast to see all of the similar writing techniques Roddenberry uses.

Plus, it's just fun watching the low budget magic, and how the friends think their way out of situations.

Aw neat, I get to post this again!

And yes, I have considered making a shorter version, but I'm very lazy.

Nice, thanks minifig
