If Marvel died in 1996 would anything of value have been lost?

If Marvel died in 1996 would anything of value have been lost?

Yes but it would probably be for the better.

Clone saga

hey, why isn't Conan a flagship character anymore?

This is the correct answer.

Just the greatest movie and television franchise in history

Liscening fees.

Even if they actually did go bankrupt in '96 they could have easily found a new corporate owner.

>Earth X (forget the sequels)
>PAD's Captain Marvel
>Marvel: The End
>Giffen/Abnett/Lanning's Annihilation saga

Those immediately spring to my mind. Would it have been worth it? Can't really say. I imagine the industry would look quite different today.

,brubakers cap,uncanny x force,Rucka Punisher,Back in black,GoTG,Annihilation,early 2000s marvel to early 2010s was alright

Don't forget Ultimate Marvel.

>Ultimate Marvel
>Annihilation
>Morrison's New X-Men
>Some of JMS's Spider-Man
>PAD's X-Factor
>Uncanny X-Force
>Brubaker's Cap

And Superior Spider-Man (YES, I SAID IT)

That's not Evil Dead.

Also Busiek/Perez Avengers and Priest Black Panther.
Also you wouldn't get Busiek Thunderbolts or Joe Kelly Deadpool.

Nope

Super Surfer: Requiem

It will be one day when they're out of ideas

Why are the AoD crossover so fucking good?

Without competition, DC would be able to bring comics to their zenith in terms of quality of art and storywriting

Superior gave us Superior Foes.

Also without Marvel, DC stagnates, hard. And as the only potential comic franchise around, it takes Marvel's place, and as a result falls into the same pitfalls. DC comics becomes a satellite orbiting around the DCU, filled with movie circlejerking and SJW shit. And when the bubble crashes around 2020-2022 comics as we know it end.

I don't think comics would exist in the same way they do now.

They might not exist at all aside from small self-published books printed to order.

>If Marvel died in 1996
Jim Shooter would have bought it.

So nothing of value.

X-Statix

Can't think of anything else

lol

This would be before Marvel vs Capcom, and way before the second one, so definitely yes.

I like Star Trek too.

Ennis' Punisher.

That's it.

I liked some of the MAX books of the 2000s

I'm waiting for the reveal that everything since 1996 in Marvel was Onslaught's psychic hallucination nightmare attack.

...

>>Some of JMS's Spider-Man
>>Brubaker's Cap

Also, Avengers Academy and Ennis Thunderbolts.

I'm struggling for anything else though.
