Did you guys even ever heard of it

I liked it. Like most of the cartoons on Jetix it was severely underrated.

It was ok. I only watched the dub so I probably got the short end of the stick. The setting was fairly interesting but you have to get over the character designs you had to get over. The CGI still holds up today and environment art was great though.

This is true

I keep telling myself I'll watch it but I never do. This has been going on for 2 years, help.

Just do it
It's not even long

Oh fuck no. It gets regular threads here, plenty of masterpieces don't.

It's literally actually dead though.
Not many shows are THAT dead as this one.

Such as?

The majority of shows ever are dead, user.

Pretty much any feature-length animation that's not Disney/Pixar/Drewamworks/Illumination/Sony/Laika.
The King and the Mockingbird, Waltz with Bashir, My Life as Zucchini, The Prophet, The Rabbi's Cat, ...
Or any good Eurocartoon pre-2000.

>choker
>multiple ear piercings
>facial tattoos

Slut.

I thought you were only talking about series.
Good tastes by the way.

Hated it as a child. I am not saying it was bad but car racing wasn't my favorite genre. Also the ending where the doof guy became avatar(?), instead of the girl was shit.

Rejoice user, the creators are brainstorming for a new Oban series.

Actually those are birthmarks.

Would you?

The English script was written by the same guy as the original French.

They just needed noses to be perfect.

Oban
Dragon Booster
Storm Hawks
Get-Ed
There were a lot of surprisingly fun shows

That's nice, maybe Thomas Romain gets time for it after the next two installments of the Nana Mizuki show, er, I mean Symphogear.

SUPER
ROBOT
MONKEY
TEAM
HYPER
FORCE
GO
!

>it's literally dead
>They just confirmed a spin off/ sequel cartoon

Well, is there fucking porn or not?

>Actually those are birthmarks
Is there a source for this? I thought I read that it was just supposed to be some sort of future fashion where it's easy to remove tattoos.

In every Oban thread I like to mention that it avoids the "humanity is the hip new kid on the space block" thing that is common in (American?) sci-fi. In Oban humanity is obscure, irrelevant and the Earth racing team earns the enduring if petty enmity of just about everyone.

I think Area made a lengthy comic. Not sure if he finished or not.

DELET

Actually tackled that idea once. I came up with a story where aliens come to earth not as conquerors or god-analogues, but as soldiers who need an "island" to set up a base of operations, and a sizable army for a war between superclusters.

The pterosaur-looking thing is the main creature, with the centipede/elephant thing being an uplifted "caveman," and the cube is just a leftover from some alien "second renaissance" shit.

Anyone got the context for picrelated?

They also almost lost a bit too much for them to still enter the finals believably IIRC.

But it was different from just always winning so I'm not complaining.

An episode of some sci-fi anthology show (Outer Limits?) ended a "conquered Earth" episode with the revelation that enslaved humanity was producing low-fuel for obsolete alien spacecraft and the actual aliens hadn't been by in ages and probably abandoned the place to the androids posing as human collaborators.

Jesus, that's some bleak shit right there.

That could be an interesting story by itself.

Humanity becoming a cargo-cult.

>intergalactic war
>Earth in the frontline, gets occupied
>earthlings produce resources for trinkets, cheaper to give them space-meth than shoot them with lazors
>earth becomes a coaling station
>economic boom on earth, new everything
>frontline moves elsewhere, aliens leave
>economic collapse
>aliens don't give a fuck no mo'

That could be a "same events, different point of view" take on Earth Final Conflict.

I suggest that you read "The Liberation of Earth".

Think they'd take some of us with them? Fast-breeding laser-fodder seems useful enough.

>The Liberation of Earth
>Earth is a battleground between warring alien factions.
Had the exact same idea a year or two back. Good to know.

>spin off/ sequel

i hope it will have 80s synthwave music mixed with dubstep

Solid 3/10 parent

>synthwave
Acceptable racing/driving music.

>dubstep
Please no.

>Spirit becoming a main character

Please let this be a thing. I was pretty disappointed when they just up and dropped him after the Alwas Cycle and and never had him develop a relationship with Eva.

Come on Pan I know you are there somewhere, just cover Oban already. If you do maybe Shadman will end up doing some Goth Molly porn.
Please!

kek

In before the girl isn't Eva.

Who do you suppose the guy next to Aika is?

Maybe a Crog that defected and allied himself with Earth

Remember enjoying it too.
I should find it online and give it a rewatch.

Does look like he's been through quite a bit, what with the missing horn.

The entire thing is on youtube IIRC.

Too bad that also seems to be the only version of the dub floating around.

Hey nostalgi/co/, remember Zentrix?

Who remembers this?

was get ed any good? i never watched it but it has probably one of my favourite cartoon intros

That red robot looks awfully familiar but I don't remember anything.

I remember this being shit but Storm Hawks being decent. Am I remembering that right?

Since molly nad her mother are the only ones to sport those, without knowing each other, it's probably genetic.
BTW, Don Wei was pretty dumb for not recognizing her on the spot.

youtube.com/watch?v=ogI1UgmOvos
IIRC this parody was made by some of the VAs. It's in french, though.

Don wasn't exactly a great father.

>holy shit this young boy looks exactly like my wife.

Best girls.

The ears and lack of noses kind of makes them look like old 40k Daemonettes, which is a plus in my book. Shame they don't have six boobs a piece as well.

I'm not going to say in the history of animation, but Motorcity beats it by a country mile in being underrated.

That is some fucked up superbird.

She isn't the only one, they are probably pretty common.

I vaguely recall Savin confirming that they were tattoos. He said something along the lines of her getting them after sneaking away from the school's faculty during a field trip.

You're right, you see her without tats on the old pic with her father.

...

yeah i don't remember 1 thing from it probably since i was a retarded when i was a kid but fuck man the opening song planted the weeb in me

Fuk no man, Dragon B00ster was legit... though to be honest I don't remember much of Storm Hawks at all.

This looks like concept art from Redline or something. I love it.

...

>Still keeps reading that as Obama Star-Racers
Guess it's better than reading it as Trump Star-Racers

This race is going to be HUGE. Bigger than Obama's, believe me.

I think Zone did an animation a few years ago

We're gonna build the best star racers, and we're gonna build them right here in America.

OH SHIT FUCKIN MAGIC ICE BUCKET SPEARS

The series was amazing, thanks for giving me an excuse to break out the old art book OP.

>Oban art book
>Bubblegum Crisis
>Warhammer paints
>Bonglander
Anyone who knows me irl is going to think you're me user, stop it. I hide my powerlevel when it comes to MLP.

I need to get this.

Fucking this! Hail the cosmic super space worm!

Is there actually going to be a sequel?

True, I should get around to ripping those old stickers off.

Anyway, it's nice to meet my doppelgänger :p

Maybe it's just nostalgia speaking, but I really liked Molly's English VA. She sounded just right for that type of character and managed to convey how young she was without being annoying.

It's fine. It's ok. It's not earth shattering but not dog shit either. It's a cool idea for a show with ok characters and ok story and dumbass ending - it's fucking fine.

The sound design is fantastic, the ship and planet designs are pretty nifty. The music is alright and it has some good ideas. If anything, it's more of a technical showcase than it is a cartoon of characters and story.

It's fucking fine and that's all.

I vaguely remember this show, what was it about again? A lot of Jetix shows I can remember and a lot I forget

This is the most vapid and worthless criticism I've read all day.

This response is fucking fine.

"I have nothing objectively negative to say about the series but I still dislike it so I will just bitch about how the comic just fine. IT'S FUCKING FINE!"

oh well fine then.

kek

...

>Humanity becoming a cargo-cult
>implying we aren't already

Who were your favourite racers other than Molly Sup Forums?

Tie between Spirit, Groor (designwise), and Satis. Honorable mention goes to Muir for motivation.

God he was so awful.

>mfw he got what he wanted in the end without any punishment.

It's nice when your OTP wins.

Losing his waifu and the love of his dotter for years is enough punishment.

This guy speaks the truth.

I'm pretending I haven't been procrastinating for almost 10 years but turns out.....

Youre walking towards your next race and this smug son of a bitch slaps your gfs ass

What do you do?

I still have the flash game

Upload it somewhere then. The only other game still available is that bad mobile java thing.

>Get-Ed
My fucking nigga. Get-Ed was fantastic and it's a shame no one talks about it.

I'm finally going to finish Oban Star Racers. Is there any other site than Kisscartoon I can watch it at? They always have shitty quality video for older cartoons.

Sweet jesus, my negro. Upload that lost gem on the internet so it's not lost forever.
