It doesn't fucking matter, he was introduced in literally first episode where they weren't even thinking about PB as a lesbian. It's all irrelevant now, you won't see her dating a male ever again.
Okay so basically he loses his arm, but he still has some of the grass sword within his arm, which regrow into a new grass arm. Then through some time travel shenanigans, Finn accidentally creates an alternate timeline version of himself that becomes trapped in a sword called the Finn Sword. Then, after a mishap where the Finn Sword was stolen, Finn accidentally stabs Finn Sword with his Grass arm/sword, and part of the grass sword breaks off and becomes part of Finn Sword. Then, later on when in a fight with his grass arm fully activated, it senses the part of the grass sword that had combined with Finn sword, and Finn's grass arm fully breaks off again to merge with the alternate Finn in the Finn Sword. This creates essentially a grassy version of Finn called Fern, who is basically Finn, but combined with the curse/spirit of the grass sword.
I hope that made sense.
Yep made sense, I actually knew what you were talking about up until the part where the Finn Sword got stolen (I "dropped" AT on season four, but kept occasionally watching some random episodes with my sister)

The comet was foreshadowed since Evergreen and Astral Plane. Fern's arc is about him finding an identity of his own. He even said it in Do No Harm and The Invitation.

If anything, it seems like they should have created Fern about a season ago. Instead of the comet nonsense, this arc is actually interesting to see. Also, it would have been great to see him as a recurring character once in a while after his arc is done.

No, the newest seasons are alright but are nowhere near the quality of the first three. The show now is an amalgam of failed ideas and unfinished story arcs that they're rushing to completion years later. The only reason I'm still watching is because I've been watching since the beginning and intend to see it through to the end.

It depends. S5.1 had some really good shit but then Frost & Fire started to ruin the flow. S5.2 was sorta irrelevant besides some episodes, but the finale is the beginning of a good arc -and you can't just skip that shit because it's relevant up until now- S6 began really great but the Breezy happened and the show got cringey af. It recovered during the final part of S6. S7 was good, highlighs on Flute Spell and Hall of Egress. S8 so far is great, and Islands is the best arc we had in about 5 years.

I don't get why people think 5.2 is so bad, I consider it pretty good even keeping in mind episodes like Red Throne, Betty, and Frost and Fire.
Stuff like Dungeon Train, The Vault, Blade of Grass, Time Sandwich, Be More, The Pit, and We Fixed a Truck. I feel like there was a lot of good and decent stuff that people overlook.
A lot of people were turned off by season 5.2/6, but I thought they were still good overall. In any case I would agree with , season 7 and 8 are almost universally liked.
I personally don't think they are bad since i love those silly episodes -We Fixed a Truck was solid gold and the whole references to the annunaki were absolutely kek. But some -most of people here- think they made no sense -specially those existentialist episodes from certain boarder.
Season 5 didn't really go up its philosophical anus, that's more 6's deal. The most artsy episodes in 5 I can remember are Lemonhope and that wasn't even Jesse's stuff.

Constant allusions to Finns inevitable but perpetually delayed transformation-into-maturity have been the core of the series 'lore'. The question, now that we've entered the 'endgame', is exactly how far they're going to actually go.
PB and Marceline canon gay marriage episode which is one big callback to Pig/TT wedding, with Finn running security and being paranoid about a number of potential threats (including TT), only in the end it all goes off fine. Except in the last five seconds (during the kiss) Patience crashes it, leading into the next episode which is a two-parter.
