The Inhumans - Anson Mount to Star as Black Bolt

ew.com/tv/2017/02/28/inhumans-anson-mount-black-bolt/

>The Inhumans have found their leader: Hell on Wheels star Anson Mount has joined the cast of Marvel’s upcoming superhero series.

>Mount will play Black Bolt — the enigmatic, commanding King of the Inhumans, with a voice so powerful that the slightest whisper can destroy a city.

>“Anson loves the challenge of playing a character who will only communicate silently,” said Jeph Loeb, Head of Marvel Television. “His enthusiasm mixed with his imposing almost regal persona made it easy to see why he is our Black Bolt.”

>Added showrunner Scott Buck: “Black Bolt is a character whose deep complexity must be conveyed without uttering a single word, and I’m very excited to have Anson on board to bring him to life.”

I've never watched Hell on Wheels. How is he?

Good.Have a hard time picturing him as black bolt, though. Then again, I have trouble with believing this show won't be terrible.

Other reported cast members.

MAXIMUS (Iwan Rheon)

>An intelligent, charming and articulate Inhuman that is fiercely devoted to the people of Attilan, especially his brother, the King — though he harbors an intense desire to wear the crown himself.

Does anyone actually care about this show

MEDUSA (Elysia Rotaru)

>The queen of the Inhumans. An elegant and intelligent advisor to her husband Blackbolt, she struggles to find her place outside of their relationship, as others tend to view her as just a pretty face. Strong and resourceful, she’s not afraid to break the rules when the situation demands it.

CRYSTAL (Eliana Jones)

>Medusa's younger sister. Soulful but still learning the ways of the world, she has the arrogance of youth. Impetuous and independent, but also deeply devoted to her family, Crystal yearns to explore the world beyond the walls of Attilan.

yes

GORGON (Owen Harn)

>Blackbolt's cousin. Impetuous and brash, he has serious impulse control issues which frequently get him into trouble whether its women, booze or fighting. He loves life and lives in the moment, for better or worse.

The art on the right looks like him, was it made after the fact?

Medusa's hair could be difficult with a tv budget.

The remaining actorless characters.

>KARNAK I Blackbolt's cousin. Slight of build, his mind is his greatest asset. Always prepared with a plan, his outlook on life is the glass is always half-empty and often cracked and dirty as well. Though his outlook can be grim he has a droll, dry sense of humor.

>TRITON I Karnak's brother and Blackbolt's cousin. Supremely athletic and the ultimate picture of cool. He’s calm under pressure and willing to do anything to get the job done.

No Lockjaw.

No...

>Black Bolt
>Not Vin Diesel

ONE JOB, MARVEL

Nope. Just a stroke of fortune.

>No Lockjaw.
dropped.

>...
What did the mean by this?

>all this casting choices
mite b cool, hope they don't cheap on the special effects

no, I think it was Hickman's Avengers or something before that

They just chose a photo/art combo that looks as close as possible

>nobody is black
Ummm this is not okay????

It was made years ago, back during Realm of Kings

Why would they have a casting call for an all cgi character that doesn't talk?
Realm of Kings: Inhumans #4

>Then again, I have trouble with believing this show won't be terrible.
Aren't you a negative nancy

>was it made after the fact?

Oh, hello turbo casual.

Because no lockjaw = no interest

>No Lockjaw

Why the fuck would they list Lockjaw in the casting call character descriptions?

He is charismatic and can do a lot with very little considering he carried the trainwreck that is Hell on Wheels through 4 or 5 different iterations of the same show, where they stopped and started the entire premise several times, retooling the show completely 3 times.

>Ulivert!

That sounds insane. Worth a watch?

Wait Inhumans is a TV show now? What happened to the movie? Is it a Netflix deal? I thought Vin Diesel has been throwing out hints he'd be Black Bolt for years now

>Wait Inhumans is a TV show now?

Where the fuck have you been? Did you just wake up form a coma or something? This was announced back in like August.

Haven't really been paying attention to marvel shit, got pretty burnt out on it

the first couple of seasons are good, I would watch the first two and if you still curious, you can try the next 3 but its up to you by then.

>Wait Inhumans is a TV show now?
Could you slowpoke anymore?

>What happened to the movie?
This is it, kinda. See below:

>Is it a Netflix deal?
No. Its going to be on ABC. The first two episodes are being filmed in IMAX and will be released in theaters (in IMAX) a few months ahead of the tv series' premier date, with additional footage that won't be shown on TV.

>I thought Vin Diesel has been throwing out hints he'd be Black Bolt for years now
Yeah, he has. He never got hired, though.

Wow this sounds like crap

who the fuck is this guy

not muh Black Bolt. Black Bolt should be a glorious muscly Greek god looking motherfucker. Not like this guy. He looks like he directs porno

It's a Marvel show on ABC. Not Netflix. ABC. It's not going to be the next Game of Thrones. It's going to be the next Agents of Notcanon.

Based on?
>he hasn't watched since season one

>>nobody is black

uhhh you're wrong

fucking BLACK Bolt

>Agents of Notcanon
Get a load of this memester.

Anyone who suggests Agents of Shield got better is memeing to the highest degree. It's the same shit as it ever was. Not even Ghost Rider helped it.

Joss isn't really up to much atm so he's got time to shitpost

Vin's busy making shit movies that will through some trick of Fate make fat bank in theaters to pay for the next Riddick installment.

Get your Sup Forums shit outta here, faggot.

Whatever you say, Joss...

So they will put Medusa and BlackBolt together again??? I mean after all Marvel/Disney loves sinergy, right?
BTW the actress could have been hotter but she is not bad.

Get your tumblr shit outta here, faggot

She's also not confirmed

Funny. Let me know when Agent Coulson returns to the films. Then I'll apologize. Until then, you're both just in denial and clutching to Mickey's teat.

If it hasn't been said yet, fuck the Inhumans.

Peanut allergy my ass.

>So they will put Medusa and BlackBolt together again??? I mean after all Marvel/Disney loves sinergy, right?

no probably not, Bendis is writing The Defenders book so there's nobody currently to take up the synergy gimmick on an Inhumans book

>Anson Mount

that nigga looks weird without a beard/long hair.

Eh you have ONE really expensive wig made that doesnt need CG to look cool, then only animate it in your big once a season fight sequence.

It could be done.

I think it will probably suck though because they will try and do as much CGI as they can, spreading the budget too thin.

Maria Hill returned to the films

and Jasper Sitwell

and Peggy Carter

quit meme-ing you fucking memelord. You're embarassing

None of these are official

It won't have a 'TV budget'. It's being mostly funded by IMAX (hence the theater release first). It's being shot entirely by special cameras.

They're called story arcs, bro.

So they gonna blow all the budget on the IMAX release and then the rest of the series will be no-budget filler

No they're not, they retooled the show behind the scenes, story arcs are something planned and built into the show, even creators spell out that they changed things because of ratings and other shit that had nothing to do with it and story arcs also rarely if ever change the premise of the show.

he went from a revenge story set in post-civil war period to I'm not even sure what you would call third season, Confederate soldier turns railroadman, company owner?

A story arc is continuing a storyline, they completely drop the first two storylines and have him become a railroad person.

>Maria Hill returned to the films
>and Jasper Sitwell
>and Peggy Carter
Literally who's crossing over for brownie points doesn't mean we'll ever see the Defenders team up with the Avengers. ABC is clearly the containment channel for Inhumans too. Do. Not. Kid. Yourself.

It isn't a series bud, it's not an on-going television show, its a miniseries.

>It's being mostly funded by IMAX (hence the theater release first). It's being shot entirely by special cameras.
Only the first two episodes, pham.

Well such a shame then, Medusa could be the most benefited by this, she is really needing someone to come to fix her character because right now she is one of the worst characters on Marvel.

I don't think I claimed the Defenders would team up with the Avengers. They won't

but screaming "NOT CANON LMAO" just because you didn't like SHIELD is nothing but a damn meme and completely wrong

It's not canon because it's entirely self contained. It will have zero lasting effects on the rest of the franchise. The whole myth Marvel spouted years ago about a "universe" of characters was a lie. And you fucking bought it. All they had to do was trade a few minor characters to persuade you.

Different user here, but the effects of the movies are felt in the TV shows. Even if it's a one-way street, it's still part of the same universe. Characters cross over, even if they are minor characters. I never for a minute thought the TV shows would have an effect on the movies.

There are many 616 Marvel comics which are self-contained and have no impact on the latest earth-shattering event. Are they not part of the shared universe of characters?

It was a weird show that I only watched because it had a period setting and I liked Deadwood and there aren't any western tv shows like that.

The fact that this show got fucking renewed over and over again was hilarious because nobody cared about it, at least not on the internet.

It had a lot of problems (mainly Common shit, The Swede getting resurrected million times, change of story) but Anson was not one of them.

So every time a guy doesn't show up or get mentioned from the previous movies, that's not canon? I guess Whiplash is no longer canon? They didn't talk about him one single time during Civil War. He didn't make a lasting effect on the universe. Iron Man 2 never happened and is no longer canon.

I feel like someone really wanted Deadwood to be a thing, and thats why they made Hell on Wheels.

even Mount in the first episode had a very not-Timothy Olyphant look about him

Can we get a shop to see what he'll look like in costume?

My diiiiiiick

Deadwood got replaced by Justified, which had basically half the actors from Deadwood

>in costume?

user he's not going to get a costume and a mask. That would be ridiculous

They'll give him a black colored leather jacket

It's only going to be like 8 episodes or something.

This. This is why I'm more than cautious about all this. I can't show interest until i see some pictures and trailers.

Have the movie start in a time when Black Bolt is the only surviving life left on a ruined Earth, or just y'know, deposed for a decade. Then flashbacks.

>first two episodes paid by IMAX
>It's only eight episodes in all compared to the 22 episodes AOS has per season
Most of all the probably won't fight much beyond showing off their powers once. The Royal family don't run around saving people. Hell it might be like Jenkins have them not do any fighting until near the finale.

Ewing said they'll be closer, but not as much as before, in Royals. She'll probably break up with Johnny in IvX #6 or Uncanny Inhumans.

>shaved Anson Mount

idk

>he went from a revenge story set in post-civil war period to I'm not even sure what you would call third season, Confederate soldier turns railroadman, company owner?

Holy shit, dude. It's like you don't understand serialized story-telling at all.

The show was always mainly about building a railroad or rather the community of people involved in building the railroad. The "revenge" story was just a setup to get the MC working on the railroad in the first place. Along the way the characters face different challenges and adapt accordingly.

However, you seem to be arguing the point that every show should be simple and episodic in their narrative with one-dimensional characters.

I know.

He looks really distinguished here. And, he helps distract from the fact you can't see his nostrils.

Why is every csting correct except for Black fucking Bolt?

Calm your autism. There's a difference between serialization and re-tooling, especially if the premise, tone, themes, and conflicts change radically.

Like Weeds jumping the shark, going from suburban mom dealing dope to the whole town burning down and then... who knows what.

Imagine if in The Sopranos suddenly quit the mob and followed his dream of becoming a chef in LA. That's ostensibly just development but in terms of the story, characters, setting, and tone that'd be a gigantic re-tool.

Honestly thought that was Triple H for a sec.

Oh I'm going to love hating him

>Triton
>ultimate picture of cool
This will never stop being hilarious.

We don't know that for sure yet. Karnak and Triton don't have any castings announced yet, and the casting calls for both characters didn't specify a race so they could be anything. The only characters that the casting sheet said had to be white were:
>Black Bolt
>Maximus
>Medusa
>Crystal
Of course Triton is just going to be all green via CGI/make-up, so there's that.

>What happened to the movie?
Basically, the first two episodes are going to have a "movie" version which will be the two episodes edited together and released in IMAX theaters. Then those two episodes are going to have "TV" versions which will air on ABC after the theatrical run is done with 6 additional episodes after it.

>X-fags are STILL salty
wew

What wrong about it?

First season yes, second season is a little boring, season three OMIGOD SWEDE WHY WILL YOU NOT JUST DIE. Then Tong shenanigans in four and five.

It's pretty crazy, but Anson holds the show together. Also Miles O'Brien from TNG is a railroad baron.
