Yes, it is supposed to make fun at old space operas and space fantasies arts, namely Star Wars and other stuff from the 70's and pulp.

Is this post supposed to be ironically bad?

You could make a case for it being a homage to kitch 80's movie posters.

ah, i get it now
people tell me i dont pick up on humor very well

Least its a colorful group shot and not a close up half face shot of Rocket in black and white

Show me one legit old school sci fi movie with a poster like this.

The movie also has to be good and successful.

>bad
I think you mean amazing

...

>the movie also has to be good and succesful

No it doesn't? That isn't how lampooning works. It was a trend that they are mocking, the actual quality of what they are mocking is completely irrelevant.

You don't get to just make your own rules to try to validate your own point.

...

...

>Blue/Orange

And into the trash it goes.

Nope, listen to .

It is a very iconic style of poster, and I would also say they are making fun of the teal/orange mix.

My only fear about this movie is that it will be too much ironic for the sake of it. The first one did a pretty good homage and low key ironic observation of old sci-fi, and even overly dramatic superheroes movies in general.

This one is looking like "the trashy 80's are back, look how bad it was!".

>This one is looking like "the trashy 80's are back, look how bad it was!".

I'm not getting that vibe from anything but the poster.

I'm not getting that from the poster. It just looks like they were going for kitch, and went just a tad too far.

I'm just worried about them taking the success of the first too seriously and milking the shit out of it.

Baby Groot is the most obvious hint of this.

>they were going for kitch, and went just a tad too far.

kitch can never go too far, that is the point of it.

>all that orange and blue
I should hope so.

That's OK, we're all autistic here.

...

Neat.

This
Design is dead

it got COLORS coming out of its ass
that's all you niggas care

I feel like the first one was late 70s/early 80s and this one now will be pure 80s af

moonraker is kino

Stop insulting Moonraker this instant.

It should've been painted.

>Has somehow NEVER seen an old Star Wars poster.

i love moonraker

>Rocket
What, he wasn't a raccoon after all?

He was probably a raccoon, he just doesn't know it.

who is that golden person there on the back

None of the original Star Wars posters look like this.

>Teal/orange

God I hate this color combo!

>That scene where the goverment and the henchmen were doing a shootout in outer space on personal jetpacks with legit laser pistols

the absolute madmen

Yes, just like the MCU is ironically bad.

Fucking millennials

Lmao this post backfired

I love seeing asshats get btfo

>outer space now belongs to 007

that's a pretty fucking bold claim

I guess the first film didn't have enough memes.

"kino" is an insult anywhere but Sup Forums

The British Empire reached farther than history books would dare tell, you see.

I have a poster of the first on my wall and this is going right next to it.
Havng Rooker on my wall will be great.

This movie looks shit, none of the "jokes" in the last trailer were even funny.

That poster is exact opposite of the GotG 2.

They save the good jokes for the movie

It's retro.
Like their music.

The first one didn't have any memes.
People made memes out of it.

>mfw hand drawn and painted Drew Struzan inspired posters are making a comeback
It looks too clean to be made on a canvas, but good to see these kinds of posters coming back slowly into the mainstream

It's literally just this mixed with the stereotypical van/album cover design mixed with GotG.

Why does retro space glow neon?

Outer space was closer back in the day, and rockets were better too.

>Baby Groot is the most obvious hint of this.

Jesus, this. It was a nice little addition at the end of the first movie, but a whole sequel with Baby Groot? And apparently it didn't retain any memories from previous Groot.

>And apparently it didn't retain any memories from previous Groot.
>am I Groot?

American version

I miss posters like this. I prefer this to moody black background with levitating sad faces.

much like the movie

That's actually good, though, as it means original Groot's death was not cheapened and still has weight.

Hope there's a scene of Baby Groot asking Rocket about his "dad". Feels potential there.

japan is really cool about this

not exactly, literally old school sci fi, but it's still good and successful

Are you retards blind?

>Ainsley isn't Yondu

you had one fucking job

It's not so much ironic, but more of an homage done for funsies.

The composition is perfect but the colours are all wrong. It also needs a shitty painterly filter.

No but you are.

Could I get a source on that pic?

My favorite.

What wrecks it is that it doesn't look nearly retro enough in terms of illustrative style.

It looks pretty clearly like digital illustration and the characters are pretty obviously layered, as they seem out of proportion with one another and there's no unified sense of movement. Just a fuckton of flailing limbs.

Also that incredibly shitty background doesn't help
