We can have an actress in an office room doing motion capture work and see her character performance in-universe on-screen in realtime, with the director having total control over every element in the scene as it plays out.
No live action green screen, no post-production compositing or keying, just preview it in a real-time CGI rendering engine like Blender's Eevee or Unreal Engine 4 as the actor performs, then finalize the scene in a ray-tracing CGI engine like Arnold or Vray.
The video may be showing a game in development, but I'm confident the same sort of realtime preview workflow can be adapted to CGI animated films as well.
James Cameron would probably fall in love with that.
Camden Baker
Yeah, this is what Serkis' studio and other companies do. It's been a thing for a while, just not anywhere near as advanced. I still remember people using it for Halo 3.
Matthew Sanchez
Yes this is the best path forward for film. If we can eliminate the need for men to ever be in the same location as the actresses, we can finally put an end to all the rape.
Adam Wood
>implying Cameron is behind on technology This looks like shit compared to what Cameron does. He is lightyears ahead of this.

got any link to what he does now?

>graphics that good on consumer hardware
Looks like CGI films could one day become cheaper to make than live action films.
Ryan Adams
...and more convenient too.
No need to worry about bad weather or shooting permits while filming either. Just construct the virtual set in your favorite 3D creation software and control the weather and time of day as you see fit. You can shoot a winter scene in the middle of summer, an autumn scene in the middle of the spring, or a summer scene in the middle of winter.
Good times are ahead of us, mah brotha.
Camden Cox
Okay, this is legitimately cool.

I am getting real sick of AAA companies.

Too bad they spend all their money on facial animations and none on the actual combat. Shit looks so floaty and bad, but at least they get the cinematic cutscenes they desperately want. Since this Tameem faggot is another one of the "i want to be a film director" types.
Wyatt Perry
idealism > realism
this argument was over 200 years ago.
Ayden Gray
It was a pretty good game. There is no actual combat. Its a psychological puzzle game. The focus is on that and nothing else. The "fighting" in that is so stripped down it shouldn't even be in there IMO.
So the Vikings should be fucking blue aliens?
Thomas Lee
Her name is Melina Juergens, and she is indeed a total qt.
Mason Jackson
>So the Vikings should be fucking blue aliens?
if you want but you could make an idealized for of the subject. It's why modern horror games aren't scary it was the low fidelity of older games which forced the player's brain to fill the gaps of low resolution graphics.
Tyler Roberts
>Arnold render
I wish Arnold supported GPU rendering like Redshift and Octane.
Nolan Cruz
how long before we can do MMORPGs like this? where everyone performs their own avatars
Nathaniel Parker
That would require every player to do mocap work, which I don't think everyone is willing to do.
Aiden Rodriguez
>cross necklace disgusting. send her to america with all the other backwards religious retards
Great acting, I can really see Brando pulling his shirt and messing his hair while screaming Stella! and rubbing his face.

>she's losing... get up... he's behind you... ha ahaha... she can't do it... she must... she's too weak... you've lost him... it's your fault... what will they think... get up... the game was a trip. Combat broke it up a bit but the fights were repetitive and went on far too long.
Justin Mitchell
the fights at least would feel slightly challenging when you were surrounded. And the weighty style of movement gave it some consequence so you had to think when to hit. Not great, but much better than the walk about sequences
AND FROM IT, IT CAME...
