Punisher

>TV show named "the punisher"
>The punisher spends his time helping a widow out, dealing with edgy kids, going to therapy meetings
>when its not about the punisher we have office drama about a kebab climbing the work ladder
>the punisher doing now? Oh he's eating dinner with the widows wife and giving advice
>time for more theraphy sessions with ptsd soldiers

This might be the most boring show ever....
Wtf is netflix doing?

fuck is it really that bad?

Im at ep 9 out of 12 and im bored out of my mind... i just want it to end

You forgot the scenes where he constantly tries to cuck his sidekick while Micro watches on the camera feeds.

It's the second best season after DD S1.

goddamnit
does he use the minigun at least?

Lets just say John Travolta was a more nuanced and interesting villain in the Punisher movie with Thomas Jane.

Last night I did an amazing experiment
> download the video from a literal camrip (I already own netflix and it's for personal use)
> splice it with clips from army dog, basically at 5 minutes segments
>then I take a tab of LSD
>have an apple pie and a six pack of Pepsis on standby
>watch my monstrosity

I LITERALLY believed that two were teaming up to fight crime. I remember thinking it was epic and that they were going to tie it together really nicely - it was weird because when I thought about it I KNEW I had made it, but my brain never registered that I wasn't watching this amazing vigilante-dog movie

I'm onto something boys

>they turned muh mindless killer into a fully fleshed out three dimensional character
Literally cry the fuck more

I agree. It’s great. You guys just wanna see Frank executing minorities for 13 episodes

Lmao no. All the people he used those guns on were killed offscreen before the series started

No, they turned him into a boring as fuck nobody. Who spent longer discussing his feelings with Microcuck than progressing the anemic plot.

He has a bunch of guns on a wall, but he never uses them, he just sits in front of it and talks about this guys family and about how they can help his edgy kid that has become a bully and stolen a skateboard

It's a slow burner the scenes where castle loses it and smashes faces are great but to few and far between.

You don't get many on the gory executions that the punisher is known for.

Final 3 episodes are great though, it's just a shame half the show was like watching a generic FBI show mixed with prison breaks awful the agency scenes.

Only on episode 3 but they are really going out of their way to make sure castle isn't like .. a gun nut.

The redneck guy in the group.. his son making a racial slur and him getting pissed.

I'm not really sure what the fuck is going on in this show.

Just finished ep 3 and I thought the scene with castle using a brick/rock to smash a muzzies face into paste was absolute kino.

>You don't get many on the gory executions that the punisher is known for.
they had one job

The scene where he creates jigsaw was pretty fucking brutal at least.

Would have enjoyed some goofy shit though, and I find it odd how Castle in this hates bombs but then later uses bombs, and in the comic uses claymores all the time.

It's not too much to ask, really

>wtf is netflix doing?
Burning the Marvel tv franchise to the ground so Disney have nothing when they leave Netflix next year for Disney Now.

fuck you. for one they did not take him in the right direction and furthermore sometimes you just want a 2 dimensional character

Excuse me, are you telling me him playing catch with the rebellious boy was out of character? That's crazy. Next you'll tell me the two of them sharing sob stories about loss every episode is out of character...

It's alright. It definitely picks up toward the last half, or last third, even.

The biggest problem is with some of the themeing/narrative decisions. Family values and 'war is hell' have both been done to death. I don't know what they could have replaced them with, but something a little more original.

Also, the Punisher's intro in Dare Devil was fucking perfect. He's this unstoppable force that shits on the heroes and villains a like. He just doesn't give a fuck. In his own show, against far more ordinary enemies, he's really struggling. It seems like he's less remarkable for his combat skills, than he is for just being able to take a beating over and over.

Punisher threads must have webms

,

The character drama wasn't all that compelling, but I understand why it's there. What can be told in a narration box, needs a different approach for a live action adaptation. Everything they were going for was done much better in "Quarry, " which had obviously similar plot points.

...

They should make punisher a crippled tranny next season. Dilation time.

>losers mad as fuck that he only kills white people

How is this a bad thing? The deaths mostly depicted in the news are of black people, it's ok to flip the script in fiction and have white people die for a change.

Do we know for SURE Daredevil and all that shit is leaving Netflix?

I think they realized they can't have a guy running around killing people every 5 seconds because that would be BORING.

He should have been more Taxi Driver and less bitchy war hero, though.

Well to be fair, I daredevil he fought gangsters and thugs vs in punisher where he fights against well trained soldiers.

I don't think that's what people are asking for. I notice a lot of these post conflating a statement of too much padding, to wanting a shootout every minute. I get it's hyperbole, and I get the changes, doesn't mean I'm gaga about a mediocre Thriller.

the bit with micro eating the sub was alright

at the very least I dunno why they're persisting with 13 eps because all these marvel shows drag on way too fucking long

>More Taxi Driver
If you only remember the climax if the movie , then sure. This show was a lot like Taxi driver with the slow burn and contemplation.

Burns his skull vest in the first ep and they forgot he had a minigun to begin with. It's pretty clear they had very little to work with in terms of budget

But they easily could have made the plot about him fighting the Gnuccis. Then we would get more scenes of the Punisher actually demolishing people.

Maybe it's just me, but I didn't really enjoy how everything this season revolved around military service.

The Punisher should've been a 1.5-2 hour netflix movie. There is waaaaaaaaaaay too much filler in this half-assed homeland/24 copy.

Half of the fun of the Punisher comics, at least in MAX, is learning about his targets and prepping for his assaults.

yeah it would be boring if you have 0 imagination. He could have had 4 arcs, with each kill leading him to the next, etc. max payne managed to get it right and max payne is a parody

I really wanted to see the people from the apartment building

I mean with Travis' general unrest and dislike for society, which eventually creates the climax. Frank lashing out because the city is a cesspool kind of thing.

>muh PTSD

has this ever made for engaging viewing?

Why does not micro shave? it would be so easy with an electric razor

>I think they realized they can't have a guy running around killing people every 5 seconds because that would be BORING

i doubt it goes beyond the comic character having a shitty beard

Quarry made it work somewhat, the story was set way before PTSD was acknowledged as a thing beyond shellshock. You the viewer sort of sympathize with him as you know that what's bugging him can't be slept off.

It's weird that they went with it in the first place.
Frank doesn't seem to have combat PTSD like the other guys. His is more about grief.

yes it felt like a waste of time. war zone was better

I was hoping when Clancy Brown first appeared that he would end up being the big bad, and then I thought this show could also use some Michael Ironside.

He's usually clean shaven unlike his depiction in this picture. I think the beard is there to show he's deshiviled and paranoid.

maybe he wears it for some other roles idk, did seem quite uncharacteristic for the scenes before he was living in his cuck bunker.

They don't want you to enjoy gun play so they focus on the downside. like having a story about promiscuity that ends with aids

>ep 10 is just them filming an entire episode at the hotel they have the cast & crew staying at to save money
based

not seen it yet i'll check it out

I assumed he never goes out and just mail orders his crap to secondary locations.

Have you seen the entire season? It clearly and strongly takes a pro-gun side.

I thought this was one of the more creative and interesting episodes.

Here is the thing; Punisher either works in two forms live-action wise.

1. Punisher is the woobie haunted anti-hero you want to hug and who women think they can fix, because he's a brooding emo punk who's monologues might as well be lyrics from an album by the Cure.

2. Live Action violence porn.

The Lungren and Jane Punisher films were the first option and the Stevenson version (War Zone) was the second version.

The problem with the second version? You need a lot of other people around Punisher to carry the narrative, since making Frank a violence machine ala the comic means you are basically making Frank a one-dimensional figure without any real depth. The first version lets you push Frank front and center, but as the movies show, you end up with a character who should have gone into therapy and who's war on crime is one huge cry for help that could have ended any time Frank wanted it to, as far as him one day waking up and realizing that this is not what his family would wanted him to do with the rest of his life.

Netflix Punisher is the first scenario but one that at least papers over the fact that therapy and a support system of normal people, was preferable to engaging in an overly elaborate murder spree where you secretly are wishing for one of the crooks you are trying to massacre gets lucky and kills you.

the only creative and interesting thing in the ep was Frank running with a corpse on his back as a shield. the cutting back and forth in time was amateur hour.

why the fuck are there so many comic book shows on there? Who wants ot see this shit? make real tv shows please

Goddammit, Madani's lisp is so off-putting

>and who's war on crime
He's not even at this fucking stage yet.

Worse, he WAS but then they changed him to being super sleuth Castle tracking down his family's killers. I mean fuck, we just want to see him crush mobster skulls. Not debate with himself on the ethics of killing a fellow soldier.

"hurr durr make frank a 3 dimensional character"
Listen fuckstain, the entire point of the Punisher is that gang crime killed his family and he wants to rid the world of crime in the most extreme ways possible.
This entire season has been basically power play in homeland security and the CIA.
The only bit they got right was frank's PTSD and how it affects other soldiers.
This was boring as shit. And the only good bit about the CIA and Homeland security was Dinah's ass.

This is what I've been thinking about. They fucked up the "gang crime" bit of Frank's backstory. So how exactly do they expect him to come back? I mean, he's gotten rid of the killers. What makes him start fighting crime again if it's not a murderous rage?

at least night nurse didn't somehow show up to give him medical treatment

regular shows are not pulling in the people anymore so they make a regular show and than slap a hero name on it.

I've literally made it through and liked every single Marvel show so far but I had to quit this one at ep 7 because it was so fucking boring I just stopped paying attention

How could anyone finish iron fist? that show was boring as shit too.

>What makes him start fighting crime again if it's not a murderous rage?
seeing someone victimized

kill yourself soyboy

patricians watched Iron Fist for Ward

Ward carried the show in the second half and at least shit was kind of going on and asain chick was hot

Punisher was just boring as fuck

You watched all of Iron Fist? How did you even manage?

Whats his superpower? Havent read the manga yet.

He's a regular guy that is just really fucking pissed off.

>frank going grrrrr when it turns out micro did not pack him a sandwich for their road trip
Its fucking 4D at this point

I'll bet murdered Afghani man's family died in the gutter from starvation. Good job Frank

I'm so glad for the user years, literally years ago who told me to read Punisher Max to actually understand the character because I haven't seen him accurately portrayed anywhere else.

This character for example bears almost no resemblance to the character we saw in fucking Daredevil S2
and that was bewildering.

this

So I'm watching the first episode and the Indian FBI agent just showed up. Within a minute of meeting her she says this to her boss

>"Wow, that's racist, sexist, and belittling of my abilities all in one sentence."

Should I expect more of this and just skip everytime she's on screen?

PTSD

You hit the nail on the fucking head.

Did he even punish anyone?

It only happens that one time. The rest of the show was strangely more balanced with its politics.

>tfw it's fucking landsman

she gets naked at one point and got a gratuitous ass and titty shot.

I bet his family gave everyone aids.

Well, this is the fourth time they've managed to fuck up "Vigilante Violently Kills Criminals Because He's Mad About His Dead Family".

I'm not sure how you can screw up such a simple concept, but I give props to Marvel and Netflix for succeeding where so many low budget action movies have failed in the past.

she also inexplicably drives a muscle car at a high level

It's just that one line.

The ass was great.

boss is killed soon. she keeps fucking up but there are no more lines like that.

fat cena

It's worse than any of the movies. Which is pretty amazing. Especially given his presence in Daredevil was pretty decent.

It's honestly not even really the Punisher. It's some weird Jason Bourne shit.

They are really hamming it up with the ott political messaging.
>Wacky NRA larper
>Pretty sure there is a cuckold storyline developing
>All bad guys are white
>Stronk brown woman detective

I'm pretty much just watching it for the occasional gun fight scene, but I think the last one of those was about 2 episodes ago. You're not wrong that it's mainly a show about ptsd therapy sessions.

*MILFs your show up*
