Mindhunter

I'm having a hard time putting my mind in the setting of the show. It comes off as ridiculous to me whenever Holden suggests something so obvious and everyone else freaks out. I can't imagine that the reality of the events the series fictionalizes was anything like how it is depicted.

>maybe murderers aren't born evil and they turn evil because of something in their childhood
>WHAT THE FUCK YOU IDIOT GET OUT OF HERE

>I like to interview this killer to understand where killers come from
>ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR DAMN MIND THE WHOLE FBI WOULD GO BANKRUPT

Honestly, I thought this was a lame duck. Finished it today and think it was just ilke Ozark. well produced, but ultimately forgettable. Kemper was great, and I jumped when he got out of the bed at the end, but beyond that I think it didn't do much for me.

The whole principal arc was so stupid. The wife giving him shit was complete bullshit especially since its not Holdens fault that him being a psuedo-pedo was leaked to the public

What makes this more interesting than watching an actual interview with the serial killers?

Its less about the serial killer, and more about the guy who is interested in interviewing serial killers. Also it is an interesting take as a 70s period piece: focusing on all the serial killings going around, the counter-culture's distrust in the government, and how ass backwards some of the mindsets are at the time.

The acting is dreadful and everyone but the MC is a complete idiot but the concept of intergrating psycology into crime is interesting. The interviews themselves are just unsettling

Kinda random, but this is a good show to watch for anyone interested in Tarantino's Charles Manson movie coming out in the next two years. This show takes place like five or so years after the Manson murders, but still does a good job of showing what the culture and setting are like.

If you read the book you'll find that he did face a lot of resistance, it is a shame because based on the one book alone of the many the guy who Mindhunter is based off there is a lot of material that would make great episodes.

I suggest watching pic related if you like this kind of thing, in my opinion it is better executed than Mindhunter, we will have to see how the 2nd season pans out.

They better interview Manson in the second season since as they did in real life.

It wasn't stupid it was showing the difficulties involved in predicting behaviour future behaviour rather than just predicting what the perpetrator is going to be like.

>100 percent of all the serialkillers were raised by single mothers

What did Fincher mean by this?

They weren't.

For instance, the Child Killer that Holden cracks at the end was actually a serial killer that his Old Man partner cracked years earlier, prior to the start of the BSU, and he noted this methodology as effective.

It's fictionalized. It's a story. It's well done. There are documentaries and books if you just want facts. It's not unrealistic to a point that it becomes ridiculous, like say, Heat. But it's still a fictional work.

As far as their overreactions to his requests - that part is actually very true. The FBI were very, very conservative and didn't like to do anything outside of the most basic police work. You have to remember they denied that the mafia or mob existed up until around the 70's. The way they saw things was that they were in catching active criminals, not preventing crime and that you just worked the case. If a body was found, you worked that body. If a guy robbed a bank, you went after the bank robber. They also didn't like cases that were hard. They consistently went after clear, simple cases to rack up numbers, because that's how Hoover liked it.

This only varied when political pressure was passed down - see their cointelpro and anti-communist investigations, which the officers objected to (not becuase of political opposition, but because it wasn't "real" work)

It's weird to think that before the 90s, you could get away with killing hundreds of random people if you covered your tracks.

to be fair, they were absolutely insane single mothers. It makes sense for a single mother to be insane as well. Her husband probably left because she was a psycho bitch or she became insane following the husband's death or divorce. Becoming a single mother puts a toll on your psyche.

Just move to mexico you can do the same shit there today.

You can in 2017. Just be a very rich Jew with a powerful network of politicians and celebrities.

Thank you for this post, it was insightful.

You can still do it now.

Pic related is suspected of 400 murders, from the 1990's through to the early 2000's.

It's weird that before the early 00's you could rape whoever you wanted without a condom and all they would be able to tell from the semen was your blood type and if you were a secretor or not.

Well Ed Kemper snapped when his father stopped wanting to have anything to do with him that's when he killed his grandparents.

Of course he didn't get a real taste for killing women until his mother took it too far and came home drunk then made fun of him. It is mainly his mother's fault though since as she made no illusions to the fact that she was ashamed of him before he had even done anything wrong and made him sleep in the basement in case he would rape his sister.

>tfw Sup Forums didn't exist during Ted Bundy / Zodiac / Ramirez killing times.

>deviant terminology
what the fuck? was this a real thing?

one of those very rare occasions you see good posts on Sup Forums

I just finished the show. I thought it was really good, probably shoty 2017. if you think there's a superior show this year go ahead and tell me.

>if you think there's a superior show this year go ahead and tell me.

Its the true to life re-enactment of the phenomena that if a male is not assertive, aggressive, and dominant to excess, everything he does or says will be blown off or ridiculed no matter how intelligent or common sense his ideas actually are in a professional environment.

Only 1/3 of the show is good. Shit Forced Drama is pointless and filler.

If the show is based in an interview's book, don't put me fillers with family plots and lesbian liberal propaganda you fucking Netflix, go fuck yourselves.

>that scene where the flat, no-ass girlfriend was acting sexy in lingerie.

Was Holden in the wrong, Sup Forums?

holden's actor gave such a bland fucking performance
