Fantastic movie! Saw it 25x in the theatre and prob 60+ times since, never tire of it!

Kubo's gorgeous. The technical artistry can't be denied. But it's not a great story and the pacing's pretty bad. They need to get a script to match what they can do with stop motion.

Kubo's animation was stunning (as is to be expected by Laika), but story-wise it fell really flat. Pretty much no time at all was spent on world-building and the plot moved too quickly, putting too much emphasis on getting characters from Points A-Z and not enough emphasis on character development. By far the weakest Laika film, IMO. Zootopia deserved the award more.

I enjoyed every bit of it. Judy and Nick just worked so well together and are just so adorbs.

I really do hope we get some traditionally animated Zootopia content at some point in the future.

this movie was perfectly: unique design of animals, worldbuilding, colorful, varied,likeable cast, good message.

it set new bar for cartoons with talking animals, no more furry heads on human bodies, that's lazy! and always explain why they are so smart so they act like people; technology,magic, evolution. doesn't matter.

This. What really ruined the movie for me was the eh script and the bad pacing. The animation was wonderful, but at the same time Zootopia had some good stuff with animation, along with a decent plot

The differences in size between species is the biggest thing that stands out to me now while watching lesser known animal films like Cat Shit One, it had rabbits practically as tall as the camels.

Interestingly, Disney tends to get it right most of the time.

That's what really gave it characteristic for me, opposed to basic animal movie/game no 5. Really smart way in how they had these characteristics making them look actual believable animals (if you know, they can talk)

Although I'm still salty because they canned the much darker "shock collar" theme in favor of the cookie cutter 100% family friendly yet dull story.

it wasn't canned because it was dark: Hunchback of Notre Dame was dark, Black Cauldron was dark.

it was canned because the allegory was clear as a day: preds = oppressed minority. prey = evil white people.

Considering the couple clips they had made before they scrapped the original script, collars are removed when medical treatment is required, so no labor while wearing them.

I think Kubo deserved the Oscar just on the sheer artistry involved but if we're gonna have to give it to a Disney movie Zootopia was way better than Moana.
