JUSTICE LEAGUE MAKES $96 Million

The DCEU is dead. Bury it. Consider it mercy.

>No great heroic change for Justice League’s prospects this weekend as Warner Bros./DC is reporting its superhero ensemble movie at $96M this morning after a $38.8M Friday (including solid $13M Thursday) and a Saturday of $33M, -15%. The expectation is that Justice League declines 27% today for $24.1M, still an upset for what was expected to be a high point for the DC superhero universe, especially when you consider that tracking had this movie at $110M-$120M projection.

Fucking hell. At least give us one batfleck movie before it all crumbles away.

>made less than Iron Man's opening weekend (unadjusted)

It will not reach BvS in international OR domestic gross.

Digits of truth confirm.

Has to make $600 million to break even
They'll be lucky if it gets to $500 million

Talking about movie finances sure is fun.

imagine if an avengers movie did worse than ant-man. that's basically what is happening

Turns out people don't want to see four Marvel movies a year.

DCEU BTFO. DC fags on suicide watch.

A lot of it is people were really burned by BvS.

Of course they arent going to show up to its sequel.

Time for the DARK UNIVERSE to step in and fill the vacancy of competitor to MEU!

>MEU

it's MCU because Marvel aren't retarded enough to use "extended" instead of "cinematic"

Oh yeah forgot that.

>go too kinoplex JL opening weekend
>see Thor
LOCK ME UP

What's with the marketing campaign for this movie?

Um .. Isn't there one more night?

>Spider-Man (2002) Opening Week: $114,844,116

There is, but they've got the formula down, and estimates are pretty accurate given the Friday and Saturday numbers + historical data

Wasn't Age of Ultron a massive failure?

No, it just did less than Avengers which was a bummer

>yfw you realize this won't even get into the top 10 worldwide of 2017

>massive failure
>still the second highest grossing superhero movie worldwide after the first Avengers

I wanna massively fail to the tune of a $1.4B take on a $250M budget

>thor -61%

CAPESHIT IS DEAD! BURY IT!

Kevin Tsujihara is a Disney double agent, he needs to resign.

HOW

DO YOU FUCK UP

THIS BADLY?

...

can DC and marvel faggoty fanboys stop shitting up Sup Forums if comicshet is dead on arrival.

Capeshit is shit. Bury it. Consider it mercy for your shit taste.

not even close

The tell-all book chronicling it will be a good read

for comparison

DC films won't end, but someone is getting fired for this.
Did Geoff Johns have input with this film? I thought that he was supposed to be the Kevin Fiege for DC

sit down be humble

>Did Geoff Johns have input with this film?

Yes, he was the one behind most changes, including probably getting Whedon

Somehow no one is blaming him for this

Kek. It will do better than Wonder Woman.
We still got the Sunday numbers to crunch

TY WB retard for ruin this movie for me. I hate you. I hate whedon. I hate elfman. I hate every single person on earth.
I wish GIANT ASTEROID will DESINTEGRADE US ALL!

...

...

>related stories: Justice League will make $110+ million

oops

Is anyone honestly surprised by this? Hollywood needs to realize that Zack Snyder is box office poison.

That's counting sunday already

>trips of truth
Johns was responsible? That's shocking. His stuff is usually good.
They should have let Snyder finish his vision, and allowed him to step away.

Why is Sup Forums so obsessed with super hero movies? Do you actually belive somebody would find you out there and make your super special kino movie idea if they weren't making super hero movies? I'm genuinely curious because this has gone on for a long time with you autists.

This. Only reason BvS did so well is because it has been the dream of countless fanboys for generations to see the two characters battle in live-action. Wonder Woman got a pass because it was, relatively speaking, a competent film starring a woman and helmed by woman in age where females are thirsty for representation in popular culture.

>Yes, he was the one behind most changes, including probably getting Whedon

>One of the first things the studio floated was the possibility of pushing back the release date of the movie, but the Snyders decided against that. Warners also extended Snyder's first-look deal to give him time to work on other planned projects when he returns to work.
>Snyder, after screening a rough cut of Justice League for fellow filmmakers and friends, wanted to add additional scenes, so he brought Whedon on board to write them. But as he prepared to shoot the scenes in England, Snyder realized it was not the time to leave home. “The directing is minimal and it has to adhere to the style and tone and the template that Zack set,” says Emmerich. “We’re not introducing any new characters. It’s the same characters in some new scenes. He’s handing the baton to Joss, but the course has really been set by Zack. I still believe that despite this tragedy, we’ll still end up with a great movie.”

Still a bomb. Suck it DC fag!

I enjoy them as fluff entertainment, and the ideas are fun to think and talk about. Those that take it too seriously are part of brand wars identification that young people are prone to, always have been, always will be. They're pop idols like boy bands and girl groups.

it has to make about $900mil-1bil to be profitable

How is that counting sunday?

...

>I dont understand box office and maths

Sup Forums told me movies need to make at least 5 times the budget to break even.

when you make movies that are fucking awful by every standard people will eventually stop showing up

Wonder Woman was only a smash hit because it had such a great critical reception and had great word of mouth that gave the movie long legs, plus the budget was kept somewhat in check

So most of these people actually enjoy the movies but go out of their way to make the "other" company seem like shit? This is just sad.

Justice League is as much of a failure of marketing as Suicide Squad was a triumph of it

>better than Winter Soldier
>better than mouseketeers most beloved flick

w-we won guys

just give the rights to marvel so we can have the Justice league vs Avengers movie trilogy nobody knew they wanted

its a sunday estimate. if they weren't including that it would be somewhere around 70 million

are the soundtrack memorable like mos bvs and ww?

I PUSH MY FINGERS INTO MYYYYYYYYY

There are algorithms that make projections including estimates for Sunday. The only way it goes significantly up is if word of mouth is incredible, but that would be accounted for by the difference in Friday's and Saturday's returns.

Marvel just could do a Avengers vs Supreme Squadron

yes, but it wouldn't have the hype or anticipation of a JLvsA

The internet has been a giant schoolyard during recess for a long time now

>Adjusted for inflation: $101,868,200

>BvS
>The DCEU is dead. Bury it. Consider it mercy.

>Suicide Squad
>The DCEU is dead. Bury it. Consider it mercy.

>Justice league
>The DCEU is dead. Bury it. Consider it mercy.

just stop already, it's not going anywhere

>Don't fire Kevin for dragging WB's good name through the mud by constantly putting out shit like Jupiter Ascending, Pan, Geostorm, and King Arthur.
>Instead he should be fired for making Zack Snyder's piece of shit slightly easier to swallow
you dcucks sure are pathetic

You won't let me live, you won't let me die.

Stop quoting niggers songs you dopey cunt

It’s so stupid how Geoff Johns is supposed to be a master producer when his skill set is writing and editing. That’s like asking a welder to become an engineer.

But Capetards truly adore this exquisite cinematic experience so every penny was well spent, even if it bombs

ASS

Wrong

When your Avengers ripoff can't even crack $100 million in it's opening weekend it's over

>I don't like this thread's subject, so instead of hiding the thread I'll make sure to post in it and make sure everyone knows how I feel

Fuck me. I was hoping this would have a decent opening.

You all realize now we'll get another year of cucks telling us we don't understand the movie.

>Elektra defeated Batman

pottery

In a way, yes. They spent arround 300mil more than the original Avengers (according to Deadline) to make slightly more.

Your memory was a massive failure.

No, it's a snorefest

at least they'll never be able to take away the oscar

Sadly it was actually a pretty alright movie. Big improvement from zack snyder's typical fare. His daughter dying of cancer was probably the best thing to happen to DC movies.

>185 mil foreign
>More than BvS
>Still one day left to go

How is this bad.

and it only gets worse from here

reminder she died from SUICIDE

ADJUSTED FOR INFLATION

well the composer didn't even have the full footage to compose to, he was composing to drawn storyboards for some scenes

It's legit flopping. Who's ass is on the chopping block for this fuck up?

You were saying?

See and

adJUSTed

there's no Feige so there's no one really to take all the blame so the ax comes down on DC altogether

the announcement that they're closing shop should come tomorrow

Would be around today 150,000,000 adjusted for inflation, which is pretty good, and at a time when comic book movies weren’t a huge box office draw

>Make Superman movie without plans for a cinematic universe in place
>People don't like it; it underperforms
>Panic
>Look at Marvel's money
>Look at Batman's money
>Decide for the sequel to put Batman in it and shove everything into a cinematic universe which was never intended
>Introduce Batman in the same movie where he must fight Superman, missing the entire point of a cross-over since this is a new Batman no one knows or has any connection to so seeing him and Supes share the screen isn't cool
>We also don't get a Batman movie to build up to this conflict, it all just happens in one film
>Audiences hate it, it underperforms
>Move forward with plans to release Justice League despite no movies for Aquaman, Flash, or Cyborg to make audiences give a fuck about them

I don't understand any choices here. People liked the Avengers because of the movies that came before. This is like if preceding the Avengers there was Iron Man, then Civil War, then no stand-alone Cap movie or movies for Thor or Hulk. It doesn't make any fucking sense.

DC wasn't willing to do the long game. They gambled that after Superman v Batman was a financial disappointment, that somehow adding three other characters (Flash, Aquaman, Cyborg) audiences don't know or give a fuck about would put butts in seats.

It's just idiocy.

Snyder should have taken the year off

hollywoodreporter.com/heat-vision/zack-snyder-steps-down-justice-league-deal-family-tragedy-1006455

176 million

Can't believe WB acted out their frustrations by branding Ben

...

Not to defend WB but they are probably worried the capeshit bubble is going to burst in the next few years, imagine how butthurt they'd be if they gave all 6 members their own movies and then just in time for JL to come out everyone is tired of huge capeshit movies after 2 Avengers movies back to back and it bombs even worse than now.

So it made more foreign but less domestically
