How far should I watch into this series before it goes to shit?
How far should I watch into this series before it goes to shit?
first episode
this
if you mean before it becomes unbearable, once shane dies
season 1 is pretty shit besides the 10/10 pilot
season 2 is fucking garbage until the last four episodes or so, where it is genuinely great as Shane loses his mind and the zombies edge closer to the farm
season 3 starts strong, gets boring around the middle and the second half is complete shit with a total wet fart of a finale
seasons 4-5 are the peak, actually coherent characterizations and themes, exciting action, they're on the move for most of it instead of getting bogged down in a single location which was always the show's lowest point
season 6 has a couple of good episodes in the first half, second half is trash and the finale is probably one of the worst ever put on television with the most exploitative and aggravating cliffhanger ever that made a ton of people drop the show outright
seasons 7 and 8 and irredeemable garbage and the only people who still watch do so out of obligation
First episode is literally the only good one in the series. But that's just a rip-off of Dawn of the Dead.
S1 is the best, the only season overseen by Frank Darabont.
After that it's more or less a freefall
S2 is a bore
S3 is a crappy bore
S4 is a crappy bore
S5 is somewhat sort of decent
S6 is average
S7 has one decent episode directed by Michael Slovis but by now the story and dialogues gets really tiresome
S8 is utter crap so far
Overall, besides the constantly depressing story, it's a really poorly directed tv series. S1 is still the best visually and by far imo.
My thoughts are the exact same.
You actually put it perfectly.
> it becomes good 4 seasons in
nope
season 2 is hilariously bad so just stop there if you like the first
So far the only thing I've taken from this is that everything after season 5 is shit.
The first 3 episodes of season 5 are pretty much the last time it was good IMO, and the last time anyone had any genuine hype for it. Even then, it's a decline from the first half of season 4, and the second half of season 4 is hit or miss. There are some some OK moments through the rest of season 5 and season 6, but it's where the show really starts to struggle to keep its head above water.
s1e2
Only thing I would disagree with is that I think the second half of 6 was actually really good and intense. Great buildup of tension and dread right up until the last 20 seconds of the finale ruined it.
s2 is actually top tier in retrospect. some of the best shane moments came from s2
i stopped watching half way into season 4
Season 1 is pure kino. Then it devolves to a max 8. It's still good but it never reaches season 1 greatness.
Everyone that says it's "freefall" is a moron that doesn't watch anymore. Sure season 1 is the best but for example season 2 is obviously worse than most season.
Pilot is the only good episode and it's not good enough to justify watching the rest of the show.
Seasons 1-2 and 3-8 feel like completely different shows.
Just watch 1-2 and continue if you enjoy suffering.
The season with the barn is so shit that whoever says it goes to gradually becoming worse is a moron. Sure it's not a 10 but the Negan and Governor seasons are much better than some other shit.
I never said it was worth watching
>season 2 being good
>with all the fuckers fucking around the farm dragging out everything which is nothing for i dont even know how many episodes .
seriously they dont even deserve the title as fillers.
just watch until you stop enjoying it, it wont get better after that
At least season 2 finale. If you enjoy it go until they reach the gates of Alexandria and make up an ending. If you're totally invested I guess go until Negan appearance. At that point if you still need more you can be like me and watch out of habit and love of zombie media but it's so bad right now. So freaking bad.
