LOOK AT THE TOP OF HIS HEAD

he dies in the book dingleberry

You are a moron if you think he is the perfect king. He was the Master of Laws, who was supposed to command the Gold Cloaks. But he let them fall into corruption and for Littlefinger to bribe them under his control.

And he had no military experience.

And he was gay.

And he taking the throne means killing all of the other Baratheons.

was he a top or a bottom

Bottom. Loras wanted him hairless.

>poofter
>perfect king

Was he a weak and poor leader? I remember it said that he reminded people of Robert in his prime, whereas Stannis was harder utterly unlovable.

>dude lets write in a character who would be the perfect king
He would have been a flashy Robert. He just wanted to win, he had no prospect in ruling, they books almost beat you over the head with that tidbit.

>thinking being a homo has any bearing on leadership abilities
think again you stupid fuck

>fag
>weak claim to the throne

greeks weren't homos, they just hated women

I realized that Martin really is naive about the political especially after his comments RE: Aragorn's tax policies or lack thereof.

Martin enjoys the game of politics, talks about breaking the wheel but hasn't addressed what power actually is except for with Littlefinger & Eunuch boy, he likes the drama just like when he was fantasizing about his turtles.

Yet look at Tolkien, he looks at the big picture of what is power, what does it do, what does it look like, should it be used or destroyed and ultimately what is good?

Martin makes characters "morally grey" whereas Tolkien gives characters conflict in their heart but joins them into the larger themes of ordinary people standing up to the evils of the world; coercive political power, war, industrialization etc and deals with some very large and deep themes about the world.

I used to think Game of Thrones was much more mature but it turns out tiddies and shocking death is nothing compared to a deep examination of political power through the use of the best crafted analogies & symbolism.

Renly would've been a cool king and drama is fun but what is GoT really trying to lead us to in the end? Global warming theories? Prophecy? Destiny? Breaking the wheel?

>Renly was the perfect king

Fuck off D&D, Renly was a puppet for the Tyrells and the only king of the war that decided to fight simply because he liked the idea of being king, and was willing to add to the suffering of the realm for it, instead of uniting against the Lannisters. Fuck Renly.

the point is he has no fucking leadership abilities
hes just a fag

>thinking pederasty is homosexuality
>thinking greeks didn't despise homos
>not knowing the difference between eromenos and kinaidoi
Top yourself.

based greeks

>he has never read any actual accounts or biographies of famous greek men and is just repeating memes from Sup Forums that make him feel better

>thinks ancient greeks were homosexuals
>then proceeds to call others stupid

All he had to do was line up behind Stannis, wait for him to die, and then he would have been King. His retarded decision to jump the queue gave the Lannisters the throne in the first place.

Let me secede you faggot

>making stuff up
>again just ignoring actual biographies of famous Greeks
>ignoring the way they spoke specifically about men's sexual virility and legs and beauty and of being in love with younger men
>trying to twist pederasty into something other than being a homosexual who preys on good looking athletic young men also known as "youth athletics coaches"
>trying to bring in reactionary forum memes to a mention of historically documented homos
>trying to desperately defend fascism from its factual classification as homo ideology by the based USSR
>not understanding that there primary source documents from Roman and Greek historians that confirm all of this

No heirs.

>t. doesn't know anything and never reads anything but goes on Sup Forums and LARP's and steals other ethnic groups heritage but is really an ugly fucking anglo or germanic

thanks, fags, for ruining the thread

childhood is being caught up in the wonder of LotR and the Hobbit. adolescence is digging the "grit" and "realism" of asoiaf and other contemporary fantasy. maturity is finally appreciating the depth and sheer beauty of Tolkien's work

Dude, let's rip off farseer.

Jon will even warg into his wolf to escape death just like the main character from farseer, George is a fucking hack

that's post socrates greek bullshit once the freemasons got control

>thinking pederasty is anything but homosexuality
>thinking greeks didn't just put up with it instead of hating it
>not knowing the difference between kinaidoi and eromenos
Bottom yourself.

> we will never see his like again

>not being versed in Greek history
>not understanding that both Greek and Romans viewed sexuality solely through giver/receiver dichotomy and the modern label "gay" is nonsensical in that context
>literally operating solely on hearsay and unsubstantiated autism by dimwit (lefty)poltards
At least don't be a brainlet so aggressively.

>post Socrates
the Etruscans, Anatolians, Persians, North Vedics, Steppe people were the same way retard. your whole gay fucking origins story is exactly that, gay, kierarchy is gay as fuck

I agree. GOT didn't even really begin to develop an overall narrative or thesis until this season. The books still haven't. All its offered until this point was a post-modern critique of Tolkien. It was very well written but as it has been said it was basically just "The Medieval Sopranos," because it was popular for the exact same reasons as the Sopranos i.e., characters getting "whacked," intrigue, morally fluid characters, etc. You can't even say it's more historically authentic as the depraved behavior of those in power in GOT was often the exception to the rule in Medieval Europe.

typical revisionist response. you know nothing of history. the pre-socrates greeks were based, as well as the ancient vedic philosophers

>put up instead of hating
Put up literally means tolerate something you disapprove off, imbecile.
>parroting my words back
Wew. Neck yourself

don't lose hope user. think of a phoenix. we've had over 4 decades of stability and gradual stagnation. rebirth is coming, hopefully without total self-immolation

The entire story is the result of two people not telling their families that were going to get married, which has resulted in probably 100,000 deaths.

Renly already had the army. Stannis shouldn't have been such an autist and let Renly have the throne.

and some tree folk creating a WMD and not retaining control over it.

>t. extremely upset frogfaggot
sorry

100k is a pretty low estimate imo considering all the famine and devastation and disease. And yeah I'm wondering what a satisfactory explanation could be for the R+L situation, if the book ever comes out that is, and if I bother to read it when it does

Stannis's adherence to a foreign religion is what caused Renly to rebel. Not so long after the Mad King, you had a potentially new king who liked to burn people alive all the while being beholden to a foreign faith and an "evil" sorceress. Ironically, if Stannis had simply embraced the Seven, he'd probably would have been king because it is doubtful that Renly and the Tyrell's would have rebelled.

Renly even tried to save Ned's life by trying to talk him into coming with him. So really, Renly didn't do anything wrong.

It does when it's a monarchy. He would have had to produce an heir and was unable to even when his wife tried to bring his lover into it.

>Roose gets BTFO by yas queen Sansa
>Roose gets BTFO by yas queen Wonder Woman in Justice League

poetic

Renly was a fop and he died in the books the exact same way he died in the show.

He was charming and well liked but basically a retard when it comes to running anything.
