I think the thing is, he's built his credibility among nerds by making nerdy cult TV shows and then nerd culture became mainstream, which instantly propelled him higher up, landing him the Avengers gig which further cemented his position as a nerd favorite due to fan service. In my opinion, a shit feature film director because all his films look like expensive television shows - and not the Breaking Bad kind but CSI: Miami.
