>man escapes best korea, gets shot 5 times >during surgery they find 10 in. parasites in him >hospital shows him Bruce Almighty and Transformers while he's recovering
What would be the first movie that you showed to a person that had just escaped from North Korea?
Keep in mind that the country he's lived in his entire life is essentially a time machine back to the 1930's Soviet Union.
He's likely seen movies before, they have them, they just have to watch them in secret
Isaac Jones
Where are you getting this?
Ryder Campbell
that's amazing
Jeremiah Moore
Tbh Bruce Almighty wouldnt be my first choice but its a good movie for someone who just escaped hell, its light and funny, got some good scenes, you can daydream about Jennifer Aniston. /comfy/ out of 10
Oliver Hernandez
Not him, but I saw this in a documentary on Netflix a few years ago. People would smuggle flash drives with 1st world pop culture on them into the country from china.
Levi Baker
on my usb flash drive
Nathaniel Ramirez
I've been there. We have a Swedish - Korean travel agency and while traversing the border on train some handball coach smuggled hundreds of DVDs into the country under our seats.
Korea itself reminds me more of the 1950s rather than some 30s Soviet Union and we were basically treated like celebreties by the local population. Everyone was interested in you because you were a westerner and they all gave us such warm smiles. It's nothing like the media portrays it like, even though they all live with a gun to the head they're all happy and enjoying life way more than most western people I know.
Luis Rivera
>flash drives
Nathaniel Carter
and they smuggle usb's in their asshole
Aiden Johnson
do they know they're living with a gun to their head? I heard the propaganda about the outisde world being worse is prevalent so maybe they don't know how bad they really have it.
Gabriel Lee
The Kims have been smuggling in their favorite movies and pop culture and just saying its North Korean to their population for years
Ian Thompson
>watches Bruce Almighty and Transformers >immediately puts the bullets and parasites back inside himself and runs back to Best Korea to escape the torture
Fantasia idk, but maybe you are right on Toy Story...
I would try some animation or children movie, to be easier to understand

It's 1000 times worse than 130s USSR because all NK is under control and you can't do shit to avoid punishment.

NKbro's going to be in bed for a bit, won't be able to see much beyond those hospital walls so we'll put on Planet Earth, Blue Planet, and their sequels

>Keep in mind that the country he's lived in his entire life is essentially a time machine back to the 1930's Soviet Union No you dolt, the black market foe Hollywood movies is huge in NK.
Brayden Diaz
sorry, soyboys. am I cool now?
Jacob Davis
Bruce Almighty is a good choice because it's pretty funny, but >Transformers
Cameron Williams
You don't show him the best movies first, that's for sure.
Bruce Almighty and Transformers are actually perfect for gradual integration. Transformers gets him used to special effects with a mediocre but easily understandable plot. Bruce Almighty gets him used to modern comedy sensibilities and urban life.
He's a malnourished North Korean. Chances are his favorite movie is going to be something terrible but wholesome like Patch Adams.
If you want a poignant answer, then the Truman Show is your answer.
Sebastian Williams
Antz would be perfect.
Nolan White
Why would they not show him South Korean films?
Angel Smith
Swefag here. NK sounds like a cool place to visit. Too bad you're under constant surveillance so you can't sneak off and score super cheap nork pussy.
Xavier Jones

Evan Taylor
>Zeitgeist >Die Hard

Josiah Cruz
>mfw its a double cross >the drives are provided to the north to be infected with malware >then smuggled back out and onto internet connected devices
Jason Russell
Other swefag here. Loads of people here are depressed. Consumerism, social media, the pressure to make a good career. Idk, I think people are very lonely and lost. North Koreans don't have much but I think they have a feeling of belonging and solidarity that Westerners lack.
Ian Rodriguez
There are actually a lot of hollywood movies smuggled into NK and pretty much everyone there has seen classics like Die Hard and James Bond.
Noah Richardson
Well, it was more enjoyable than JUST league.
Parker Ortiz
Goodbye Lenin 1984
Christian Brown
>hospital shows him Bruce Almighty and Transformers while he's recovering
I'm amazed he didn't get up out of the hospital bed and walk right back across the border
Lincoln Morgan
Shawshank Redemption The Matrix Basically any movie about escaping, tho maybe that's bad reasoning to assume a man would want to watch a movie about a situation similar to him.
Brody Murphy
I show him his hospital bill

Bad Boys II Transformers I The Rock Fast Five
Alexander Foster

>actually falling for the tailor-made propaganda experience they give foreigners to make it look like everyone's happy
Idiot.
Leo Bell
You dont need to sneak off. Theyd take your money and genes. Native white boys, even halfies, would be good for their propaganda videos.
Jackson Perry
Seriously, what the fuck were they thinking? Those are shitty movies to pick even if we assume this is a guy who was watching smuggled-in movies while in NK, because it's just the kind of wide-appeal children's crap he would have already had access to. Either show him something new that wouldn't have made it in, or some old classics that aren't new enough to have been smuggled in.
Come to think of it, do they have viewings of Citizen Kane in NK? It seems like the kind of movie they'd show to deride capitalism.
