It's not just that you didn't get it, it's that you shouldn't be expected to. BR2049 is just not for a general audience. It's not even for men in general. It's for men above 30 with minds that look back as much as they look forward and who found the original Blade Runner meaningful in some way and have grown a strong carapace from facing loneliness. Anyone who doesn't fit that description really shouldn't be expected to be mentally stimulated to a great degree by this film. If they are, great, but if not then there are good reasons. It's not because the film is bad. It's good at what it does. It just doesn't do it for most people.
