roll for anal circumference

It'd be shitty because eventually it'd reveal some shit about one of the players being like a terminal cancer patient or being beaten by their dad between games or some shit.

They referenced D&D regularly in Adventure Time and did a D&D episode in Gravity Falls. And not a cartoon but Community did 2 D&D episodes. Maybe a straightforward D&D cartoon wouldn't go over great but a cartoon riffing on ideas from it heavily should do great.

They could make a D&D cartoon if it was based on the Legend of Drizzt series. It's serious enough to not be hokey and it already has a decent sized fan base.

They had that shit in the original. Remember when they met that GOAT middle eastern guy who adopted them all and the douche bag paladin said that he was a better father than his real dad?

Shit gave me the feels yo.

Eric did nothing wrong

>there will never be a Fell's Five animated series
>or even a new comic issue

I don't know. But that black girl is kinda cute.

A True Tail is still not dead. I know it's hard to believe, but it's NOT dead.

Does this count?

Nah. Just make it look like Minecraft or someshit that kiddies like and toss in the usual leepestdoor elements and some waifus and cash dat shit in.

If web cartoons count, Tales of Alethrion drops at the end of the month.

>that nigger girl
UNF

It would be fetishised to hell and back; and that Barbarian kid would be trans.

>completely impossible
No, but it's such a broad and vague property that it'd actually take someone who was both very familiar and a skilled writer, with no meddling, to actually make something good out of it.
>in this day and age
Absolutely. If anything's ever produced about DnD in the next few years it'll be a low-budget live action series full of diversity advertising and mediocre at best in everything, like any GoT clone will be.

Maybe the origin story trilogy. As a Drizzit-loving autist growing up who's read the main series up to a couple years ago (all told there's like 50 books in that particular setting, it's ridiculous), the starting quality was pretty poor, slowly improved to okay and the origin was actually pretty damn decent, but past that it's a steady descent to absolute garbage.

It still hurts.

That's not a DnD cartoon, that's an isekei. If you want Isekei, you can watch SAO, Overlord, Rewrite, or Konosuba.

Of those, the only actually good one is Konosuba. It doesn't take itself too seriously and even though only one character is from the "real" world, the entire party is shaped like a real DnD party.

The main character is the asshole rules lawyer who is ruthlessly efficient and would stomp everything if not for the DM doing his best to reign in every exploit and making him roll for his stats.

The wizard is your white-room minmaxer who is only interested in making the most powerful build and getting the spotlight. Even when you point out to the player that their build is absolutely worthless in about 90% of encounters, they don't change. Also a weeaboo of the worst sort.

The paladin is there for magical realm shenanigans and is engaging in erotic roleplay with the DM outside of the main sessions, constantly throwing in their fetish fuel in the actual sessions.

And last, the cleric is the DM's girlfriend who has absolutely no clue how to play the game and is constantly messing up and throwing a tantrum, even though the DM let her play the most broken class in the game with extra levels and special loot.

It's fantastic.

Rainbow Equines also had a D&D episode.

I didn't know this was an actual cartoon. I thought it was just a porn comic.

god i hope so the slash would be great

The D&D episode in Gravity Falls was shit, though.

Or they could just make a cartoon about Jarlaxle being the amazing faggot he is

Maybe, but it would only do half damage to skeletons.

that's when you whip out your giant black pussy

It was enjoyable, but the art went to shit halfway through when they changed artists.

>Drizzit-loving autist
>still spells it 'Drizzit'

Hmph. Guess that makes ME the real autist.

Maybe he's referencing the little girl that calls him "the Drizzit" in Soujourn before getting murdered

I'd watch that. Those sexy abs.

>isekei
Pffff... kill yourself you weeb otaku filth. Nobody will miss you.

Oh user, any network that would make a show with something like that would find it....FATAL

People often call him Drizzit. Whether it's to trigger autists (you), in reference to the devoured kids from the origin , or because the apostrophe makes the feel like spergs. Personally I do it because I don't particularly like (most of) the series anymore, but yes, I remember every little detail of those books. I read most of them fucking three times.

>Jarlaxle & Entreri series
>at the end of each season, Jarlaxle's shenanigans in local affairs/family business culminate in them fleeing the surface for Menzo or from Menzo to the next surface venture

Go to Sup Forums and find out

It's a fantasy adventure show, why would you ever think it wouldn't work unless the people making it were shitty?

He said cartoons, not gookshit.

Man I wish my DnD groups had chicks that looked like that.

Not him, but he might have meant that standard fantasy anime is continuously being produced, quality notwithstanding.
I think they are more MMO or mobile game inspired than D&D, but those were inspired by D&D in the first place.

Oh fuck I've been waiting for this.

Yeah, Japs love the "normal people transported to a fantastical world" setup that the old D&D cartoon. You'll hear it referred to as "isekai."
The trapped in an MMO thing has been popular with shows like SAO(despite it being complete shit), Overlord(better, but overrated by LN faggots) and Log Horizon(more like slice of life in MMO).
There was also Hai to Gensou no Grimgar or Grimgar of Fantasy and Ash which had a more generic fantasy RPG setting that wasn't stuck to the MMO teat. I do recommend it, but it's not for everyone. It's a very slow-burning story with a snail's pace. Fine if you don't need wild action to sate your ADHD,

They should adapt A Kid In King Arthur's Court then.

...

This is probably the best single story about normal people getting sent to a fantasy setting.

>kid
>sports team called Knights
>transported back in time
>Arthurian legend

>Japan in charge of King Arthur

You sure it wasn't this Mark Twain book?

Better than Narnia?
Narnia introduced me to fantasy genre.

Damn it, I was just about to post that.

>The Dungeons and Dragons cartoon is not a Dungeons and Dragons cartoon. Let me tell you about my anime.

Please, I implore you to die.

>tfw no more of best halfling

A few bits that still stand out to me even though I haven't read this in forever:

>wizard is an engineering student who has to give up his wizard powers so starts making hax guns instead
>dwarf is some cripple kid who decides being a kickass dwarf is more fun than needing another person to help you take a shit
>they get to go back to the real world once and grab a bunch of shit like ginsu knives which in the fantasy world turn into the most absurdly well-made and sharp swords
>there's a scene in the second book where to win a fight the main character lights a boat on fire and fights in it chugging healing potions while his skin continuously burns off and regrows

It is a D&D cartoon. It's right there in the name, even if it did the whole isekai thing before the Japs got into it.
And if you want to sperg out about D&D anime, you could at least have mentioned the OG D&D anime.
Also
>leddit spacing
You really should kill yourself.
Okay. I need to read these yesterday.

...

...

...

I miss this kind of animation. Not the cel shading but the animation.

>leddit spacing meme
Neck yourself faggot

The high-detail animation that keeps characters on-model?
Yeah. But Lodoss was kinda all over the place with its budget. For every one scene like this

We got five that looked like this

But we have Rat Queens. RAT QUEENS!
Did you know that these women have sex? Orgasms too! And they do drugs! And they're hardcore and snarky!

Or still pans over speed lines

As do I. It just has so much more life to it.

Just like any other cartoon or anime at the time.

Those aren't drugs, those are mushrooms.

True, and Lodoss is actually even better than most anime from 1990 by virtue of being an OVA, which means it had a much higher budget and more lax deadline than TV anime of the time.

yes

If I remember my Lodoss correctly the first episode was made as a stand-alone so it got a higher budget than the rest.

And the worst culprits for bad/no animation were easily the giant dragons that started appearing later on. They were ALL just pans across a static image. "God, I sure hope that JPEG doesn't hurt anybody."

That's also pretty much the plot to Digimon, so it's an old trend.

Also brown skinned elves need to make a comeback.

LITERALLY DID NOTHING WRONG

Most Sup Forums stuff tends to be pretty formulaic, though there's still a few that have more of a D&D sort of feel.
There's a reason /tg/ loves Dungeon Meshi

It's kind of a typical thing to pour a much higher than average amount of the budget into the first episode, just to build interest.
Usually skimp on budget until the end, but the budget for the end never materialized and the dragons remained still-pans that kept being recycled over and over again.

>Also brown skinned elves need to make a comeback.
Damn right they do.

>Also brown skinned elves need to make a comeback.
Yep.

>There's a reason /tg/ loves Dungeon Meshi
A very specific reason.

Drugshrooms.

Lewd elf is best elf.

Thank god there's art of the orc fucking the elf.

>teens transported to fantasy realm
>guy has crush on brown girl in group
>she's a brown elf in setting
>"Oh no!"

Also, has this ever been done where the group that's transported has been totally based on happenstance, and weren't friends? Not like SOA where a large amount of single people are thrown together, but rather that the small group don't know each other that well, but are put in together because they happened to be in the same area at that time?

Like some sort of Medieval Fare where some guy visits a "pretend" gypsy there who gives him a relic to be careful with, he gets accosted by a jock and his cheer leader GF and dropping this relic throws them all into the new world together?

Marcille is a strong contender tho.

>Also brown skinned elves need to make a comeback.
They sorta did. And in the West no less.

>Also brown skinned elves need to make a comeback.

We were SO close...

I'd like to say no OP. The problem being that no kid wants to see a D&D style adventure through the eyes of the characters on table.

I'd love to see one honestly, but unless it was completely episodic with no investment on the viewers part, I doubt it will make a big hit. Action cartoons are dead, and so are heavy story driven cartoons.

Those who hunt elves sort of does this in that the group doesn't know each other beforehand, but they don't magically transform when they get pulled in or anything.

Only if through development they end up changing.
>modern consumer whore stacy ends up falling in love with nature and becomes a druid
>jock bully becomes paladin to some god(dess) to make amends (his confessions are hilariously innocent compared to the normal converts)

Etc.

>elves = pretty high tier
>brown girls = pretty high tier
>brown elf girls = OFF THE SCALE

...

wat is this

>Only if through development they end up changing.

It should be that once they are taken out of the modern world they end up reverting to their old childhood loves.

Record of Lodoss War. Influential anime that was literally just an adaptation of a D&D game the creator & his friends played.

Wizards of the Coast will never invest enough money in a spinoff property of DnD to make it popular. They canceled the Forgotten Realms book series which had several adaptable book lines, saying nothing of the massive popular Drizzt books. They're desperate to find someone to hawk the Drizzt movie rights to but they want to make $50 million budget movies without doing the series justice and are doomed for failure.

It's one of the preeminent pieces of how you want your campaign to go.
Then there's Slayers. Which is kinda how is usually does end up going.

They did make that D&D move that's only memorable for Jeremy Irons devouring every scene he's in.

Mine does. They're all married.

I NEED MORE BROWN ELVES

It's isekai, not isekei.

Looks like just ordinary animation that you see in any anime. Cel shading is a 3D animation term by the way.

>Also, has this ever been done where the group that's transported has been totally based on happenstance, and weren't friends?
Grimgar.

>>Also, has this ever been done where the group that's transported has been totally based on happenstance, and weren't friends?
>Grimgar.
Grimgar was pretty unique in that it has all the characters forget everything about where they came from. They're aware that they're not from the world they're in, but they remember nothing distinct about the world they came from.
Which is a unique way to transition them into just being newbies in their world who need everything explained to them, and subsequently the audience.

Do brown, alien, amazon, cat-elves count?

Still mai waifu.

Sadly this one is not coloured.

James never stood a chance.

We'll never have that high seas adventure we were supposed to get next issue.

they can't because the lore and ruleset after 3.0 made that shit wow with dice, and it's bland, insipid and retarded now.

Ears as erogenous zones is top-tier elf lewds.
