Watch the film Enemy few weeks ago

>watch the film Enemy few weeks ago
>to my surprise it's directed by the guy who did Arrival and BR2049
>decide to watch Prisoners just now
>to my surprise it's again directed by the guy who did Arrival and BR2049
SHIT twice I've been quite surprised

Where do I subscribe?

that prisoners poster fucking sucks
why does huge look like a wax model

Might as well go ahead and watch Sicario now.

>Might as well go ahead and watch Sicario now.
Haven't seen that yet and yeah I may as well

This director knows how to pace his movies. Makes sure to not have scenes that are too fast compared to most directors that suck at editing (or whatever editor Denis has, knows how to properly make a film).

Between Prisoners, Enemy, Sicario, Arrival, and BR2049, Denis Villeneuve has now directed 5 outstanding films in 5 consecutive years. Literally any single one of those would be considered the magnum opus of a more average director, and Villeneuve just shits 'em out like they're nothing.

Literally the best director working today, prove me wrong.

Couldn't get past 15min of Enemy, does it starts at some point and is it as predictable as a doppelganger story as it seems to be?

Arrival is garbage.

When you do, don't act surprise

now watch Incendies

They're good movie.
He's literally the thinking man's Nolan

>Arrival is garbage.
Name me another movie with music that has terrified you? The music when you see the spaceship thing sent shivers down my spine and the only music that has ever made me afraid was the Doom 64 soundtrack

>Couldn't get past 15min of Enemy
Maybe a cgi action flick is more suited to you

This.

>Name me another movie with music that has terrified you?
Not him but Ravenous

Right well Nolan would be a fantastic director if he didn't make movies to impress morons.

I mean there's slow and slow but go on sell me the movie dear.

lmfao um no thanks, sweetie. this (You)'s all I can be bothered to provide, ok?

>movie so heavy only the god tier soundtrack can carry it
say it with me: g-a-r-b-a-g-e

Predictable poseur doppelganger movie it is then, thanks for the (you) kind sir.

This

Imagine holding such a dumb opinion

br 2049 newfag detected

>sell me the movie
it's basically a generic invasion of the body snatchers plot with spider skinwalkers taking over the world + tension between doppelganger and original wanting to kill each other, but the movie doesn't outright state it. intellectually and with the benefit of hindsight i can sort of see what's going on and the themes of identity the movie tries to play with but because this such an abstract clusterfuck of story telling where you don't know what's real and what's allegorical i didn't know what to think during the first watching itself, but not knowing what to think is not the same as not knowing what to feel, the movie does a good job of making you feel bad throughout and the ending jumpscare(cheap emotional manipulation that it was) felt appropriate and i would recommend it as an overall experience if you're just miserable and want to feel emotions.

I'd argue he has a better streak because Incendies and Polytechnique are very good as well

Personally I feel like his last two films are his worst ones

arrival felt like the premise to a really cool star trek episode but then all the potential interesting language stuff and diplomacy happened off-screen (look guys we finally cracked the code!) so it turned out to just be a mcguffin that serves the character drama which itself didn't feel like the main point of the movie (just like the language stuff, it hints at existential nihilism, but then doesn't actually explore it in any interesting way)

it felt like some capeshit prometheus cross breed

sharpening filter does that

Got anything to support that, you chut? Ain't you the same Pissy Mary who's been on period on every single thread about that director?

>the movie does a good job of making you feel bored
>ftfy
I'll try watching it some other time anyway, people are pestering me with Villeneuve but his style doesn't seem to work on me...

>as predictable as a doppelganger story as it seems to be
Pretty much

Please don't bully entry level nolan graduates

this is satire right?

No, because it's true.

cuz in movie he became a guy losing his sanity and torturing an innocent man, thus the wax figure look in the poster. he was no longer a man, just a wax
