>Recommend a lesser known film
Any guidelines to what qualifies? Like less than 5k people have logged it on letterboxd or something?

Reminder to prepare your 2018 cult movie challenge list; it is good to do
wasn't 1 enough?
I've done it for 2 years now, looking forward to my third
Good to do, gets me leaving reviews when I wouldn't otherwise and watching films that wouldn't be on my radar (or I keep putting off) without it
Good way to introduce yourself to some really interesting filmmakers and genres
posting just to see if any life remains
Here's a challenge for you, machill: watch DW Griffith's filmography.
also for a lesser known movie from 1979 try Last Hurrah for Chivalry
Most of it is unavailable to watch
It certainly would be challenging!
I spend my morning shitposting in Thanksgiving parade threads because my life is devoid of purpose.
Actually nearly all of it is available. Griffith is one of the only few of all silent directors whose works all survived and remain in tact, all 500+ :)

What are the top 10 greatest films of all time slept

dunno, check criterion.com
In my opinion somebody should release a blu-ray coffret of his work
I'll watch then
Until then I'm hoping his films get shown at the silent film festival/weekend
DW Griffith shit confirmed!
Flaherty doesn't have any bluray release either
Robert Flaherty confirmed shit!
More like flahtulence

This makes Bruce Melvin's micro penis grow insignificantly larger

For 1979, watch The Bitch or Gas Pump Girls.

>David Greene is a New York basketball enthusiast, who wants to coach. He is then offered the coaching job at a small Nevada college. He brings along some players, who are a bit odd but good. Like Swish who unknown to the rest of the team is a girl. Preacher, who's being sought by some nefarious characters. And D.C., who's a fugitive. And along with some of the students at the college, he turns them into a contender. In order to give the team the respect they deserve and some exposure, Greene schemes to try and get the number 1 team led by Bo Winnegar, to play them.

How to tell if someone is a film embryo: They like Baby Driver
Bruce, how do you know about this gentleman?
How to tell if someone is genelet: They gave a single Griffith work less than 5 stars
>Birth 3 and a half stars
why
You know why
GENES
Why do genelets like Gance
Because he's epic!
Abel Gance FTW!
who has the 3.9?
y-you're supposed to decide that on your own!!!
Gance of course! He's epic!
Walter "Wise""man" is genuinely mentally challenged.
I would genuinely like to know why Sjostrom and Gance's 1910s flicks are liked so much. None of the people that give them high scores write reviews
You have a serious mental illness.
Why'd she give Judith 2 1/2?
Because the Wikipedia article didn't say "art film" anywhere. And it was boooooooooooooooooooooooooooring :)
I would genuinely like to know why Sjostrom's 20's flicks are liked so much
Noooo!!!!! The left is melodrama!!!! The right is ART!!!! GRIFFITH IS OUTDATED!!! THE 20'S ARE BETTER!!!
>melodrama
Oops!!
You don't get it! Melodrama is good when the colors are really vivid and explanatory!! Griffith only used 1 tint!!!
>melodrama this
>narrative this
Griffith may utilize similar devices, but he is neither any of those things. He is what, like many things, Ford stole and gets credit for. Layered reality. Griffith mastered realism, and mastered psychology. Then stripped them to bare humanity to essence. Motivation and ideology.
Eisenstein took note of this and adapted it to his directorial efforts
is irma vep worth a watch bois?
Griffith, like Flaherty, knows conflict is everywhere. There is no such thing as non-conflict. It is a matter of representation. His conflicts are both direct and indirect. External and internal. Onscreen and offscreen.

yeah intolerance shouldn't even be in the top 100
This list is far from perfect, but is still better than any subsequent one I've seen by anybody else.
what a fucking year for movies
Titles that should removed altogether:
Brief Encounter
Le Jour Se Leve
Children of Paradise
Stagecoach
Threepenny Opera
Bressonshit
Vigoshit
Redditolerance shouldn't even be on a top 100,000 films.
Um
>Redditolerance
I see you got your wit from Kubrick
