Logan

Finally watched Logan and wanted to know what Sup Forums thought about it.
Personally i don't know how to feel about the movie, it sure wasn't bad but it wasn't amazing either I felt like the movie was too depressing, Seriously that was how Logan died? After all he went through he dies like that? I didn't even had the time to cry because of how anticlimatic his death was The scene where Logan buried Charles lost impact due to Logan swearing all over the place I left the theater with a "What The Fuck Face" Also, there was too much plot left out like What did Charles did? Did every
X-Men died?

It's a tragic story. If you didn't like it, that's fine, but some people can enjoy this type of shit.

Did you like movies like Unforgiven
The Wrestler
Shane?
Because this was meant to be the super hero equivalent

Its was okay. It's basically The Last of Us with mutants and edge.

The only other XMen movies I've watched are Days of Future Past and the leaked workprint of Origins.

It didn't live up to the cinematic marvel of the workprint.

It's heavily implied that Charles killed the X-Men during one of his seizures.

As for what I thought of it, I found it frustrating because it suffered from the same problem The Wolverine had. It starts telling a solid, self-contained story and then it's like it remembers that it's an X-Men movie and starts including all this extra shite that brings it down.

Take out X-24 + the other kid mutants, and make Laura the one success. This takes all the excess off and gives the villain(s) a reason to try to take her alive.

really great movie except for all the kids minus the mexican one

It's better than any Mousevel film.

I don't know about great, but it was pretty good.

My biggest issue with the movie is that, unless there's more timeline shenanigans, future X-Men movies that take place before this one will feel weird knowing that they all die at some point.

you don't have any problems with other movies and even life knowing that all the characters will eventually die?

But we know where, when and (partly) how they're gonna die. That's very different from knowing they're gonna die but having absolutely no other knowledge on it.

Yeah I think everyone agrees that it was mediocre at best. It seems like the director didn't know how to write a superhero movie. When I go see a superhero movie, I want to have a good time, not watch people cry for two hours. Still, this does officially end the Fox X-men movies, so I'd put good money on Marvel stepping in and picking up the pieces like they did with Spider-man.

20 years into the future, its probably not even any good X-Men

So is this continuity's X-23 going to be a midget when she grows up?

Since the evil scientists went and had the bright idea of lacing a ten-year-old's skeleton with adamantium, it's not like that girl's bones are going to do any growing anymore.

>this does officially end the Fox X-men movies,

aren't they doing like 3 more in the next 2 years?

Fuck, really? No way. How? They already made the ending

shhhhhhhhhh

shhhhhhhhh

its ok.

everything will be ok

The comics mostly ignored old man Logan. I don't see why Fox wouldn't ignore this.

>Yeah I think everyone agrees that it was mediocre at best.

you're retarded

the way the guy with the robot hand died really unsettled me for some reason

he was a prick but it seemed like an agonizing, awful way to go

They only did it to her claws.

>When I go see a superhero movie, I want to have a good time

Wh... what? Who does that? Im mad about this for 2 reasons. 1. Have you seen any superhero movies? They all try to top each other with how dark, emotional and depressing they can be. And 2. A superhero movie is essentially a movie about one person putting watching one or more people they love die, putting the weight of the world on their shoulders with the best intentions and then watching them struggle not to drop it while some asshole kicks them in the shins. I'm not saying superhero movies SHOULD be depressing, but theres nothing light or feel-goody about watching good people suffer while trying to make a difference in a world that stopped caring long, long ago.

Because those movies print money.

He was instrumental in the capture, torture, and presumedly intent of murdering children. Kind of hard to feel sorry for him.

If by "The Last of us" you actually mean "The Road", Unforgiven. No movies are aping that overrated ass game

plothole:
she could just cut through walls and therefore its silly that they were able to contain her

>Logan yelling SHUT THE FUCK UP into the face of his screaming 10 year old daughter

Goddamn, I love this movie.

Yeah this movie was great! Only faggots and Mousekateers didn't like it.

She'll have disproportionately small claws, that's it.

Don't get me wrong: I am completely okay with the way it ended. Jackman's earned it. But I would give everything I own and then some to have seen more adventures with those two together.

She has spindly little girl arms. Likely not strong enough to cut through a reinforced wall.

How many scenes in this movie have someone waking up/regaining consciousness? I'd guess at least 30. Even the villain and minor characters like Caliban do it. Wolverine and Charles open just about every scene by waking up/recovering consciousness.

Is this an artistic choice or was the screenwriter just that lazy?

very Children of the Corn vibe to that scene

those kids ain't right

He was working for the guy that was going to throw them in the wood-chipper. He had it coming.

On a related not, wtf was with the mercs not just SHOOTING the children? Or at least having tranq guns? They bring all this military firepower and then start chasing and grabbing them like chickens....I guess it explains why so many of them had to have limbs replaced with cybernetics.

But seriously, after that scene with X-23 rolling that guy's head, I would have lit her up immediately like the Aliens movie, fuck whatever Pierce was saying.

It went on for too long IMO, it was more than 2 hours.

But I enjoyed it, it's amazing how movie wolverine's death feels so much more meaningful and emotional than comic wolverine. I heard a lot of the lines in the scene where they stay at that family's house were ad libbed, making it even more amazing.

That being said there was way too many social justice themes being shoehorned into this movie. I'm okay with the whole mutants as a metaphor for illegals message but the director tried to shoehorn stuff about child soldiers, eminent domain, hormones in the water and GM foods.

It is a tragedy, of course it would end on a bad note. This type of entertainment isn't for everyone though so it is really ballsy from Fox to basically do a "mainstream super hero movie" so no "superhero like" which could alienate several people in the mainstream audiences.

About the plot and shit, I think you knew everything you needed to know, the movie isn't about the X-men or how they were wiped out or how Charles kill them all.

The horse rancher detour alone eats up 30 minutes of the movie.
It's a slooooowwwwww moving film, for sure.

And the rancher scene, while I suppose adds to the "Western-ness" of the film, is pretty damn illogical. Are we supposed to believe that this guy would be staying here with his wife and kid with a belligerent stereotypical Land Baron waving guns at him nightly? Or that he felt it was a good idea to point guns back at him?

Both sides would have lawyered up, called the cops, and if that didn't work, the guy would just sell his property and move to where the locals weren't so cartoonishly evil.

That whole sub-plot was just silly and contrived.

Clearly you've never been to rural Oklahoma.

SHANE?

It's his farm. It was heavily implied he had it for far longer than the dickheads who were encroaching on it were around.

It's definitely jarring that Xavier killing many if not all of the X-Men happened shortly after the optimistic ending of DoFP

Well if it weren't R-rated they'd probably make it seem like Xavier wasn't the one at fault.

It's like saying "Sentry is inspired by the myths of Hercules" instead of Superman.
You try to be such an intellectual faggot but this shit is clearly more The Last of Us than The Road.

They're on the run from an organization with considerable resources and yet Xavier manages to convince Logan to stay overnight with this ordinary family. Why?

Because they didn't know they were being tracked via mutant. Logan was found in Vegas with a fucked up Chysler 12 hours prior.

I never understood what was at the border. Everybody took the border seriously and then it just ended without any explanation.

The leader of the kids was talking with someone on the radio, telling them they were being granted Asylum. Given the urgency of the soldiers telling each other that they caught before they reach the border, I'd say it was a right move for the kids.

He was tired and senile. And he wanted to sow Logan what family life is, just for a few moments. In hindsight it was a terrible idea.

>In hindsight it was a terrible idea.
It was a terrible idea in foresight too.

I gave it a solid "B", only because the cardboard, straight out of central casting villains were laughable. Did like the way the Logan/Laura relationship evolved and Patrick Stewart looked like he was having fun playing a doddering old man.

I really liked it. Just to finally see Jackman Wolverine able to slice and cut up enemies with actual gore being shown and his blades dripping with blood afterwards. Magic comic book movie moment for me right there.

But Charles made me sad ;-;

>What Charles did?

Didn't really need more explanation. They show in the movie he has seizures that emit powerful 'psychic waves' which can seriously harm mutants and humans. that his powers have gotten out of control while his brain has deteriorated with age.

Something happened that caused a seizure which injured 600 people and killed 8 mutants (the X-men) but Logan won't tell him and keeps him drugged to prevent more incidents/Charles remembering what he'd done.

What exactly happened isn't important to the story.

I'm happy they didn't add a flashback of the event or something like that, I think that would have taken some of the impact away.

They were cute and Laura is my daughterfu.

>"It wasn't me, it wasn't me."

Well this movie was depressing.

F4 had an entire run based on the OML future.

How did all the mutants escape except for her?

Did any of them have teleportation powers?

>The scene were Logan buried Charles lost impact due to Logan swearing all over the place.
How else do you imagine the character reacting in this situation? Logan isn't a man of big words and heartfelt speeches, and he was about to cry, but couldn't in front of a kid, so he left to beat up the car instead.

That's sort of the point of the film. Instead of having these larger than life heroic sendoffs, each character dies brutally and weakly. It actually made it even more sad than some glorified moment of heroism.

You missed the point of the farm scene completely. It was to make you put your guard down. It was a happy moment for our characters when they can catch their breathe, Wolverine realizing the life he could of had and BAM! It's all taken away in an instant. That's what makes that sequence so great. It shows there is no rest for Logan.

It's been a long time since we had a sequence like that where it really punched you in the gut.

Is the adamantium bullet a reference to the first wolverine movie?

Any why couldn't the final boss just regenerate brain matter after being hit by it?

I loved it but I really, really didn't like X-23. Her and the other kids stopped the movie from being a 10/10 for me.

Action was great, Jackman and Stewart were amazing and I also really enjoyed Caliban and the villains. I just wish they'd kept the road/western style movie with a dark tone but used some other plot. The kid was just annoying to me, especially when she started speaking and I felt like she didn't have the acting chops to sell the bonding/emotional scenes.

This is the first time I felt Patrick Stewart wasn't simply going through the motions in a movie; he usually saves his best for the stage or Star Trek. Could see he was trying to push the envelope here. That 'this is what family feels like' oh god my feels......

Laura is gonna pull a bishop and h
Lose her memory. Then shes gonna hunt "the traitor".

>what movie with friends
>"richter is gona be the telekinesis mutant in the group"
>what
>"did you see him flip that truck with his mind"

why cant people pay attention to movies they're watching what the fuck

Because his healing ability only works with the serum. His eye was blown off by the farmer, and only started visibly healing after being fed the serum.

>Anons implying that this movie is bad because its sad

Sup Forums have an absurd shit taste. It's a good movie, and better-than-ordinary superhero movie and an okay tragedy.

*watch movie

stupid fingers

Because they actually ran straight for the destination instead of waiting 2 days to get help from Wolverine.

But then why wolverine kept it around to kill himself?
In the other movie the best an adamantium bullet did was erase his memory, not kill him

It was better than any Disney Marvel movie yet It was only okay for me. I'm sick of Hugh Jackman. He never really dressed, looked like or acted like Wolverine in 20 years. Miscast.

One of the major themes of this moving was Logan finally facing aging and his own mortality.

We already saw that he was no longer healing properly. It took him an entire night to push out the bullets from the first gunfight with the car thieves when we've previously seen him survive nuclear blasts and heal perfectly instantly. And he now scars.

The injuries he sustained from X-24 for at least two days were still gaping when he woke at the doctor's office. That doctor, Rice, and Pierce reminded him that he wasn't the same any more and can easily die in a gunfight from REGULAR bullets.

Seeing the damage that adamantium hollow poiint bullet did to X-24, I don't think Wolverine would get up from that.

I actually like it

They're being loose with the continuity, which while is confusing for the fans who follow the films timeline very closely, most moviegoers don't really care, it gives them much more space to do different things

Shit, i forgot about the doctor wound thing, i though he was just being poisoned from the adamantium, the healing factor slowing down didn't occur to me.
That doesn't explain why he kept the bullet from way back then, when his healing factor was at his peak.

Captcha: charles odire

Adamantium is the kryptonite dumbdumb. It was to off himself if things ever got that bad for him/mutants, especially since if he managed to get captured he'd be fucked with his super healing for tests.
But really it was just a plot-device to take out 24 by the end. If Wolfy got shot with it in the head at any point though, he'd be fucked since it wouldn't regenerate.

Wait so how did all the mutants die again? Also so does adamantium just naturally turn toxic overtime or something?

Charles blew their brains up scanner style when he had a sizure
>does adamantuim turn toxic
Its always toxic but Logan's healing factor offset it

You're the reason we can't have nice things in cape movies or comics, for that matter.

Capes can tell any kind of story with any kind of tone with writing creative and skilled enough to handle it. The reason every cape film seems like a rehash of the last one is because they're trying to be crowd-pleasers while the crowd is a bunch of unimaginative plebs who think that "comics" is a genre.

This is why Marvel was enjoyable at some points - Cap TFA and Ant-Man took slightly more inventive paths within a still badly-constricted cape "genre" - but also the reason Marvel has become absolutely tiresome recently. See Guardians Vol. 2's new trailer, a full minute long shit joke.

A depressing Western with a tragic hero who dies in the end is exactly the kind of innovation cape movies need to stay watchable. Fuck you.

>Also so does adamantium just naturally turn toxic overtime or something?
It always toxic, Logan just heals through it. Problem is, you use something to much and it breaks. So constantly having to heal through full body metal poisoning eventually took it's toll on his powers.

Some of the x-men where killed by charles, most of them where killed by the reavers. They put shit in the food that prevents the development of the X-gene making so no new ones are created.

Most, naturally probably, while it's implied Xavier accidentally killed the X-men with a seizure. Once a peaceful mutant like Charles was shown to be a danger to even his own students, I'm sure the rest were hunted by humanity.

Wolverine said the mutant gene just stopped. that it was bullshit what Charles had said about God had a plan for them, because they just died off and no new mutants were born.

It's a mix of and . The X-gene was was kept down to prevent mutants from being born naturally, so the government could make their own mutants in secret.

I felt like the ending was weak, i'd have liked to see a little aftermath of what happened to the kids after they crossed the border.
Laura changing the cross on Logans grave to an X was a nice detail.

I want a new X-men trilogy with the kids and X-23 as the new main character now.

This is what Sony Pictures is hoping for.

Sop telling people they missed the point of anything you faggot fuck. If your guard was let down in the sequence then YOU missed the fucking point. Those people were always going to die. If you had paid attention to the ominous looks they were all giving and the clear set up of the kid saying he'd get his ipod back from her.

Either you know very little about movies or you REALLY like Logan and thought it was impeccable at every turn.

Why Sony?

Fox, user. Fox is who owns the film rights to the X-Men.

There was this talking on a radio that when something similar to the seizure in Vegas happened before in Westchester and 7 or 8 X-Men died. We don't know who. We don't know who was in the X-Men at that time. We don't know is Wolverine the only one that survived.

>superhero movie

It was explicitly not meant to be a superhero movie. Comics, much like films, aren't all a single genre. They don't all have to be superhero stories. Even the ones that incidentally involve characters with extraordinary abilities.

>director didn't know how to write

Directors and writer are usually not the same person

>everyone agrees that it was mediocre at best

Except for the literal tons of rave reviews

>a good time

It was a good time. Being a quipfest doesn't automatically make a film a good time nor does the absence of this make a film not good.

>ends the Fox X-Men movies

Not even remotely. We already knew we were Deadpool 2 and X-Force before Logan even started filming. And the 90s X-Men movie is supposed to start filming in the next few months allegedly. Plus the new tv show is supposed to be in continuity with the movies. And although they keep going back and forth since it was announced on Legion being stand alone or connected Stewart did express a desire to be involved as Xavier recently.

FoX-Men isn't going anywhere, Marvel drones.

They weren't, much like the comics, very concerned with immediately fitting it in. It could very well just be a different reality/timeline for all we know.

It wasn't Vegas. That would have been way too far out of their way (technically, they probably wouldn't have even taken the Texas-Oklahoma-Kansas-Nebraska-South Dakota-North Dakota route as seen in the movie).

There are Harrah's casinos in both New Mexico and Louisiana (where the film was shot); it's pretty much a toss-up as to which one it was filmed in.

>the scene where they stay at that family's house

>It was a sort of...special needs school

Definitely got a good kek out of that

Also I feel like you might be trying to read too much into the the themes. From reading/hearing the director talk about the movie I don't feel like he was concerned with any political agendas. He just wanted to tell a compelling story that gave Charles and Logan definite closure.

Calm down dude. If anything it was stated to be influenced by westerns. The movie has next to nothing to do with The Last of Us.

Also who claims the Sentry is supposed to a Hercules analogue instead of Superman? I've literally never seen this. Especially since Hercules actually exists in Marvel.

My biggest complaint with this film is all the shitposts it has inspired complaining about how much cursing and violence there is

...in a movie about the goddamn Wolverine.

>On a related not, wtf was with the mercs not just SHOOTING the children?
It was bugging me ow all the mercs trying to capture Laura kept getting into melee range before engaging her, you have fucking guns and you know she can heal so why not shoot her enough to incapacitate her long enough for you to restrain her instead of putting yourself into convenient snikting range?

Since when do SJW's care about child soldiers/eminent domain or tainted food?
Their narrow realm of interests is entirely limited to identity politics.

i did love the amount of child violence in the movie

>x-23 gets speared through the chest

I think he meant actual social justice, not internet vigilatism and shit-nobody-care-about gender issues
