So I'm a few episodes in, and...is this whole season going to be about punisher VS the american government? He's not even a vigilante cleaning up the streets in this show, it's just a Jason Bourne knock off. Except in the first episode, there are no fucking gangsters at all.

I dunno, it just doesn't feel like the Punisher, at this point the thing I'm most interested in is if he'll bang Micro's wife(will he?)

they got scared and couldnt commit to tge source material. i dont blame them though punisher is hard to adapt....he is a horrible person and character(due to the fact he has little to none beyond revenge) would you watch 12 episodes of some dude killing addicts and torturing thugs to death to kill more thugs and addicts? frank is meant to be a side antihero in another series not his own series good casting though

He can be done well, look at the punisher MAX series or Garth Ennis' run on it. That whole arc with him VS Bullseye was fantastic, but I guess they're saving Bullseye for Daredevil Season 14

>American government
How do you think that still if you're a few eps in? Are you more like two in?

Herion dealing rogue spooks and paramilitary crime syndicates are not the American government.

...

>watching the punisher
>fast forward through everything except his scenes with redhead MILF

Adapting Punisher isn't that hard, they just fuck it up all the time.
>MUH THOMAS JANE
War Zone was the better adaptation.

You should know by now that Netflix shows are nothing but mass produced trash.

That's too harsh, but I gotta say, I'm losing interest in this "10-hour-movie" format. There's a reason movies are 2-3 hours long.

I'm starting to miss episodic television

>would you watch 12 episodes of some dude killing addicts and torturing thugs to death to kill more thugs and addicts?

Yes.

Im 4 episodes in and the last scene was punisher playing chicken with a high ranking female homeland agent who for some reason decided to go on a lone suicidal goosehunt in a car.

It was already boring with that dumb broad running half the show, now it almost jumped the shark as well.

>8 episode in
>now even wearing the skull

I guess we'll see it again for five minutes in the finale. For fucks sake it's not even a costume, it wouldn't destroy your "gritty realism"

>addicts

Name one single comic where Frank tortures or kills an addict.

What part of 'violent perp' do you folks not understand?

you're not enjoying strong independent persian who don't need no man?

Skull is there fully after ep 10. He's in hiding until then.

Well that's something at least.

Another problem is that his old military buddy who I guess they're setting up to be the main physical bad guy (the one fucking the arab girl) is less intimidating than my sister

Oh i love it.
Not least when she insists that she's to be referred to as an american yet her primary concern is a random middle eastern cop in Afghaniston.
Drop everything you guys, never mind who might threaten people who live at home in the US (aka homeland, your department) theres some poor cop in a sea of dead innocent middle easterners who must take priority.

Yeah I'd watch a porn with her but why the fuck is she eating half the show's runtime?

So really why don't veterans just get jobs in police, private security, and that type of combat shit instead of trying for jobs they're unsuitable for?
I mean maybe they don't wanna fight anymore but they should've thought about that before spending years in a career that only involves fighting

They do. I know one who is a bouncer and another that's a nurse.

so what's the problem? the injured ones get paid by the government and the able bodied ones can get jobs in fields they have experience in.

Not all wounds are visible, we're talking about combat vets here.

Is she some shallow, obscure Marvel comics characters or just OC for the show? If so, that makes her 3rd or 4th line in the 1st episode even more comical than it already was.

I think PTSD is covered under disabilities

OC for the show.

Does Russo become Jigsaw?

Yeah, that monthy check will help him forget that time he had to hold his bro's brains in his head.

Yes, honestly if you're near ep 11 just plow through the rest, its way better at that point.

Which line are you referring to?

Dude I'm talking practically here, what would you have the government do for them in practical terms, perform a lobotomy to erase the memories?
At the end of the day, no one's been forced into the military since over half a century ago

I heard it gets better at the end. I mean of course I'll watch it, but I am kinda disappointed.

There are lots of vets in the police.

Problem is "helicopter gunner" and "mortarman" don't actually qualify you for most of those jobs you listed and it's no practical experience gained for anything you'd be doing in any other job.

Marines typically do better in finding jobs like policing, private service, etc because they are utter sociopaths and will lie about anything. But, your regular Army Joe Schmo who scrapped past with a 26 on his ASVAB and is borderline illiterate still seems like a total dunce when he interviews compared to nearly everyone else and didn't actually get anything out of his military service except PTSD, so he's fucked.

>"That was sexist, racist, ableist, transphobic, and it was HER time, sir."

Man, I'm 2 episodes in and already I can tell anything with her is going to be total shit. So whenever she meets up with the Punisher, apparently episode 4/5, I'm going to have to trudge through the rest of the series if I can even finish it in one go.

>an it was HER time, sir

God I wish that last part was real, it would've made the sentence perfect

if buying the drug is a crime castle will kill them

Spoken like a true pleb. I bet you think he shoots jaywalkers too?

he has done that too

I'm supposed to believe Micro nailed this?

Fuck outta here show

Do you know why though? Cause an idiot like you who doesnt understand the character decided to shit all ovre him in an 80s Spidey story.

That was retconned, dude. You may as well go on about Batman using guns and killing people.

>guys, guys, hear me out....
>we start the series A F T E R he's done Punisher-ing...
>somebody get that woman the presidents chair, he's just (((resigned)))
it starts slow, for sure and any additional Punisher-ing is ok, but is maybe 5 mins in total. Any DAW screen time is a soft relief, tho.

If Frank kills all criminals, why does he have so many criminal allies?

THAT DOESNT COUNT, ONLY ENNIS PUN- oh shit, nevermind...

Yeah, they really should've started this series from the beginning and repalced punisher with bullseye for daredevil S2

I can see Frank killing pushers, not addicts. Not unless the addict sells their child into prostitution to pay for his next fix or some shit like that.

this guy didn't even do anything yet technically, but the intent was good enough for him

>redhead milf

Who?

>tfw Billy is in on it

Fucking broke my heart

who could've known billy russo would be the bad guy?

marvel.wikia.com/wiki/Billy_Russo_(Earth-616)

Lifelong Punisher fan here who was psyched for this show and I agree.
I'm 6 episodes in and just very "meh" all around.
That halfcast homeland security chick gets way too much screen time and I hate her.
The fact that it wasn't the mob who killed his family ruins the show, he's not The Punisher.
It's just typical Netflix bullshit.
Biggest disappointment of the year.

>this guy hasn't done anything

You CLEARLY dont know Punisher if you dont get hes a Gnucci.

Whoa so you're telling me like, Billy Russo's the bad guy? Really made me think and shit...

Unless they're Mexican and give him a sandwich. Then he'll save them from being murdered by his partners in crime.

>you don't know the real name of some b list villain from a comic book you never read? wow what a loser

SAVE_US.ENNIS

nah man we were just having fun, no one thinks you're a loser for not knowing a comic book villain. technically that would make you a winner.
Yeah I hate they changed the death of his family

>nah man we were just having fun, no one thinks you're a loser for not knowing a comic book villain. technically that would make you a winner.

go fuck yourself

you'll never disrespect me again, you hear me

I always bingewatch these shows in one night, and then always google a newly introduced character to see if they're OC Donuts for the show or actual legacy characters from the comics and then compare how differently they handled their stories in the show

Obviously it spoils the story a shitton but it's the only way I can watch through this shit and not cringe when they introduce a hacker named Micro

they should have emphasized the 'I'm a soldier with out a war to fight' theme, not the 'I'm still crying about a dead family every single day' theme.

they should have sped up his deployment as the full time Punisher, instead of creating another slow origin story.

They overly personalized the story, and also took him back to not being the Punisher at the end of this arc, as well

Netflix just doesn't know how to manage the properties. That, or they've been told to make low quality television for all audiences.

but tom is best frank

I would hope this is how most see the Punisher.

Jigsaw isn't b-list though, he's pretty popular

>they should have emphasized the 'I'm a soldier with out a war to fight' theme
You really think the bastion of USofA propaganda would do that?

He was probably very well paid before he had to go into hiding. She is Jewish in the show after all.

THIS sounds like a way better show than what they made.

Especially the part about speeding up his deployment as Punisher: Fuckin' dude ALREADY made the papers and was introduced to us an entire series ago, roughly 4 full seasons of Marvel Netflix Universe ago.

>War Zone was the better adaptation.

Started as a Spidey enemy, has been an Avengers enemy, video game and movie appearances. He's up there.

Its gets very good the last 4 episodes, the final 2 being extremely violent. Other than being too stretched out (the subplot with the army terrorist bomber was a waste of time) Punisher was quite good.

youtube.com/watch?v=QO4kg4YhJpA

it really doesn't get good ever sadly

no, that movie is entertaining but very dumb
I dont really know what more you wanted. It seems like Sup Forums just wanted to see Punisher fight the mob and drug dealers for a whole season?

Punisher MAX is really dumb and it's considered by a lot to be the best Punisher story. I'd say they were pretty accurate.
Jane doesn't feel like the Punisher at all.

so you just wanted it to be an extremely violent cartoon? If thats the "best" version of this character then he sucks

Does anyone else have a hankering for some Premium No Pulp Natural Tree Ripe Orange Juice???

she stole the show.

which is really sad
dude you cleearly have never read the punisher, so why are you assuming you understand what it's supposed to be like? if you liked the show fine, but there's a good reason most fans didn't

this is the kind of OJ I have in my fridge

Ddamn, micro's wife looks like dat?!!?!1

>Punisher MAX is really dumb
The absolute state of Sup Forums Punisher fans

I didn't know the character before going in. But it was really predictable and kinda stupid.
>lots of focus on this one friend of franks we didn't see before, conveniently intersects with crazy war obsessed kid
>somehow shitload of money/influence etc to start a PMC just a few years out of service
>cozening up to Ms Homeland (both were using each other too bluntly)

The reveal was too easy to spot, wish it wasn't. But anyone with knowledge of the character name was probably bored and waiting for something to happen.

>Whats wrong with your faaaaaaace?

I liked it. Had they trimmed this down to 10 episodes and focused on Frank being a murderous crazy man it would've been great.

The only way Sup Forums won't whine is if the Punisher spends an entire season shooting niggers and mexicans.

I was literally just thinking about how his face would get fucked up the entire season. pretty good villain I guess

Is he gonna be good in S2?

I would love to know whats 'really dumb' about what's possibly the greatest crime epic Marvel has ever published.

You can't tell me a series with a villain like Barracuda is a work of highbrow art. I like it but come on.

I hope S2 is just Jigsaw & Kingpin killing every previously introduced non-superhero to the Netflix Universe. Especially that old cunt from Luke Cage.

Season 3 of Daredevil better have Bullseye in it

>this is in the same universe with a talking raccoon in space

just finished it, 8/10, would recommend

slots in just behind DD season 1

im not even gay but this guy was so hot, would have no problem with him unloading in my ass

know what is highbrow art? the Frankface

I got get your point, in his introduction he's scary as shit, you've never seen Frank handled like that, plus he takes genuinely glee in fucking shit up. Then in his second arc he kills Frank's best friend AND kidnap's Frank's illegitimate daughter.

Barracuda is the closest MAX has to a real nemesis, and you're saying the run is 'really dumb' because Ennis wrote him a bit hammy, really?

True.

But I'm not condeming MAX at all. The Netflix series should have taken notes from it.

>I don't get
Whoops.

First and last few episodes were GOAT. Overall the season could have had more O P E R A T O R stuff and be a few episodes shorter. Also fuck that Muzzie cop.

What I hate the most about all these marvel properties is that they don't adequately intersect. netflix, AMC and the movies are more like separate timelines. The AMC and netflix series try to reference things up til the avengers movie, but nothing after. And then characters all seem to forget that aliens, magic and various supertech are things. Fucking luke cage is a weapon x experiment (and probably govt/merc funded). And these series don't bounce off each other well or use the universe they've created well. I'm not asking for like thor or some god tier to show up and punch the 'average joe' antagonists that punisher or early daredevil might encounter, but to extend the array of things characters are aware of. As above everyone should be aware of magic, mutants (inhumans), supertech etc so there should be shifts in their world view and daily lives.

I fucking liked it

This.

MAX embraces the edginess doesn't hold back with over the top ridiculous violence, and over the top and ridiculous storylines.
I wasn't seeing any of that. Punisher MAX reaches Machete levels of absurdity without the comedy.

...
