I agree, Lynch does his best work when he's trying to fight against his own craziness, rather than yielding to it (Blue Velvet, Twin Peaks)

The movie is about fatherhood... That's it.

t. Idiot who can't understand surrealism and the purpose of film

Explain the meaning of life to yourself. You can't. And yet you pretend to enjoy it and go on every day instead of just getting it over with. Art is like that too, and you go on looking for meaning when none actually exists. I hope reading this opened your eyes, OP.

The imagery didn't do much for me, I ended up getting bored and skipping to the interesting looking parts. When characters don't talk gets me. Was that intended? Even those old cartoons when they would play music instead of talking would creep me out.

It's not really though

It's literally 100% about the visuals and sound design but it's great.

Watch it again. Try to assign meaning and a connection to the weird stuff. Ask yourself why Lynch made the choices he made.

Because he wanted to convey that feeling of crushing anxiety and delression when even the most mundane things seem monstrous and opressive.

Are you described your own experience or making fun of fans of Eraserhead? Cause either way, it's one of Lynch's most straightforward "surreal" films.

>why doesnt this surrealism make any sense?
so, when is your 12th birthday?

>fucking pleb: the post
How hard was it to understand the movie was about the fear of fatherhood? Seriously the scene with the lady in the radiator stomping on sperm should’ve clued you in to something....

I took it as a big metaphor for wasted manhood and loveless marriages.

> Guy is nervous about becoming a dad

Wow was that so hard?

See what you learn when you cross cultures and shit?

See what you learn when you cross cultures and shit?

I'm afraid of having kids (and might never want to) so I connected with it. It was really disturbing.

I don't love the film but considering it had such a great effect on me I still respect it a lot. A film I did love from Lynch is Elephant Man.

This. I always saw it as the guy's anxiety being projected into the real world around him. The whole thing is like one bad trip where the victim is constantly being subjected to his own insecurities manifested as real life imagery.

It is you dense faggot

The people who read deeply into this crock of shit are pseudointellectuals and children. Honestly the worst series of moving images I have ever watched, and possibly the most pretentious too

I'm tired of seeing your disgusting pictured of yourself around here. Its bad enough I have to see you that you start threads of you sucking off a lollipop every other day, you sick twisted fuck. Gtfo and get some sunlight, Jesus Christ.

I for one think that "You bawl like the baby in Eraserhead" is a cool analogy and a great song lyric
