Was it rape?
Here's a genuine little piece of trivia I don't know if anyone's aware of. His middle name is Fucking. See, he developed such a reputation working on Trek for so long that everyone who knew him started referring to him as Rick Fucking Berman.
Totally serious. Ask any of the actors at the next con and you'll see.
That's Mr. Rick Fucking Berman to you

I'm going to go to school to study genetics and I'm gonna engineer a virus and put it in the water supply that will make 30% of all females born come out blue skinned with white hair ad antennae.
What about making them have spots?
aye captain

Damn I forgot how kino this episode was.
She said "wife" not "waifu", Geordi
Get your own degree in genetics
It was really good until the bullshit parts with the traveler. The entire episode should have been Best Crusher figuring things out on her own; cutting to the real Enterprise with Worst Crusher explaining what happened cheapened things.

This thread is disturbing proof that we need to be allowed to discuss STD. What’s wrong with a little discussion for once?
STD might not be your favorite Trek show, but for millions of new fans it is. Why not let them enjoy Trek like you once did?
Why aren't Ferengi males ever seemingly attracted to Ferengi females
>it's an alien has STACCED tits but a hideous face episode
Also, don't reply to the baby.
He was behind all the TNG movies.
>people will reply to that bait
anyway Jellico did nothng wrong but he was still a bit of a dick
ooh boy, here we go again
>new fans
Rewatched that episode a few days ago, noticed this as well.
no new ep until january right?
nothing to discuss really, if you have something to discuss about std say it instead of whining about how there's no discussion
My fucking god these threads have gone to shit without me, do better faggots
>put Troi in a uniform
>gave Data the first officer's chair
>slapped Riker down
>got the ship into fighting shape
Absolutely based
I am on S01E11 TNG, my first Holodeck episode, would the 20th century historian on board the ship that Picard brings along not have thought to visit the 1940s in the holodeck before?
>New fans
Is that a thing. I want to believe it is. The show is clearly aimed at them but I haven't heard any normie buzz and any normies I did convince to watch it dropped it after the first two parter.
posted by me, btw
Just watched this yesterday. Jellico knew how to get shit DONE. If he's a "dick" for demanding people do a shitload of work to save all of their lives, then I'd be proud to serve that dick for the good of the entire crew.
That didn't come out right
Here's the question: Jellico did a lot to give the crew new experiences that inspired them to tighten their shit up once Picard came back. HOWEVER, if he had ended up being the permanent captain, would it have worked out so well?
I'm the same height as Quark and every time people in the show call him "little man" it hurts a little
This
>Told Troi to put some god damned clothes on
Love him.
Fgt
>would it have worked out so well?
Yes. He wasn't the heartless monster that Riker portrayed him as. He was happy to have a chat and a joke with Geordi in the shuttlecraft about Titan's Turn. He was willing to open up to Troi about his son. It wouldn't have been easy but yeah, I think it would have worked out.
It's still kinda European hours , it's only 6:30 am
Americans will wake in a few hours and everything will be fine.
eventually yes, but he probably would be forced to lighten up a bit. I don't think he'd grow close to the main crew, but they'd grow to accept each other and perhaps even understood the actions both sides took.
the problem is that it's just a dumb, singular-arc show. none of the cast matter except burnham, and her actions and interaction with crew are unrealistic and jarring.
it's just sci-fi pulp really. no problem with watching it or it existing but it doesn't warrant discussion. all the episodes are just snack-sized story pieces with forced semi-cliffhanger handovers from ep to ep.
No, restricting Riker is a bad idea, Picard learned to give him free rein, jellico never would have, both are control freaks but picard understood his own frailties, Jellico did not
Watching with a quasi-critical eye,U simply cannot take the concept of the Holodeck seriously anymore. At first I started making my Holodeck posts as a joke ("Why don't they call it X instead of a Holodeck? The name is misleading") but I'm starting to get annoyed whenever anyone uses the Holodeck. I just can't stop thinking about all the plot holes, the unbelievable decisions that people make, the fact that it's possible for the technology to work flawlessly while not responding to controls because of some major spatial anomaly, there's so much about the Holodeck that doesn't make even a little bit of sense. And then there's the fucking Doctor. They put a bunch of EMHs in a cave system to mine dilithium or something, but they can't set up holoprojectors around Voyager? Actually, we know that they CAN and DO do this--in that episode with the Hirogen, we see it done, it's the entire plot--and no amount of handwaving can make me believe that there is some reason that makes sense diegetically NOT to have done this before. And the mobile emitter almost never malfunctions; when it does, they can fix it, no problem. It's even more unbelievable than Geordi's ability to operate on Data's positronic brain without actually being a cybernetics genius like Singh was. Why the fuck can't they make more Datas? Why the fuck can't Data experience emotions but Moriarty can? If a Holodeck replicates matter on demand, why can't the replicate and android? Why does that replicated matter lose cohesion when it leaves the Holodeck if it's replicated, rather than projected? Who decided that the Holodeck was a good idea?
Sure. Jellico was a fucking badass, and the crew would have adjusted in time. There may have been a few transfer requests, but frankly, if you can't cut it in the flagship of the Federation, then the entire crew is better off without you.
>Bashir: Now I finally know how far those spots go down
>Ezri: And I suppose you'll tell Miles, since you tell him everything
>Bashir: No, I think I'll keep this one a secret
Bullshit. He told O'Brien. He drew O'Brien a fucking diagram. She WANTS O'Brien to know.
Fact is that serving on the Enterprise-D under Picard was easy mode. Picard was the youngest captain in the history of Starfleet for his first command and he always felt that he had to be a friend to his crew to make up for the fact that everyone saw him as an inferior due to his age.
That was such a stupid episode and took the problem of "older people being cast aside by society" to an extreme level that's not relatable to our situation. What kind of planet that has warp capabilities would still have the tradition of killing off their members once they reached 65 in their years? Whatever spawned this obviously occurred in their past when resources were very low so control of numbers needed to be implemented for a long time since it became a global tradition. But, being able to travel to other planets negates this tradition now seeing how they can set up off world colonies to effectively provide more for the home world. So why the fuck would they continue with this pointless sacrifice? All this episode does to me is say "Old people sure do have it great on our planet. At least we aren't purposefully killing them for an extremely backwards tradition that no longer serves any purpose."
Also why the fuck would want to kill off a scientist? Like, that's one of the last people you wanna kill off for your retarded culture. Fuck this episode and fuck whoever thought they were trying to tell people to treat their elders with more respect.
Oh for fuck's sake you missed the point entirely.
>mfw reading Garrett Wang's claim that most of Kate Mulgrew's scenes had to be reshot because she was emoting too much and only aliens were supposed to have emotion or actual jokes in this show
Someone really needs to do something about the asshole morons in charge of this franchise.
That sounds like a repurposed TNG S1 anecdote.
Which was what? We treat old people terribly? Older people feel useless because we cast them aside?

It would explain why every scene with Chakotay and Janeway feels so forced
I don't quite remember the specific episode but I don't see why a historian would have all that much interest in a fictional holodeck 1940s past making and critiquing the programmes.
Also Holodeck privileges isn't really touched upon very often but given the amount of holodecks and the amount of people on the Enterprise. It strongly suggests it's a luxury for Starfleet personnel only.
But Picard was hardly a friend to his crew. Aside from the main cast he didn't go around hanging out with Jim from engineering nor did he enjoy spending time showing the bridge to kids. And he was still probably the oldest or one of the oldest members of the crew so you can't say his age had anything to do with it.
>youngest captain
Dude u dumb, pls don't post anymore
This.
Even by that episode everyone forgotten that Picard was a bit of a dick at first too.
You lying faggot. I posted this thread.
Crusherposter, btw.
You have autism.
Riker's an XO, he will do as the captain commands or he will be transferred and Data made XO
It was about the inherent dignity of sentience, you retard
Why play poker if there's no stakes involved?
This is why Data was the ideal choice for XO under the circumstances. Geordi and Riker complained that he was putting way too much pressure on them and that it wasn't fair but Data said that while it would be very difficult, it was logistically feasible.
For fun?
This is meThis is a faggot Oh happy to see your still trying to hold down the fort crusherfag must have been tough

Get in line, dude. The writers repeatedly ignored Gates McFadden's requests to make Beverly a more competent mentor to Wesley instead of just his generic mom. She believed that it would make sense for a single mother with no partner to talk with her son beyond standard mom stuff like "eat your vegetables, go to bed, do your homework, you're grounded", etc. They also cut or re shot scenes in which she and Patrick Stewart tried to add sexual tension between themselves, even though she was intended to be Picard's potential love interest from the beginning. How does that make any sense? She also said once that she felt it unfair that Beverly almost never got any kind of fight scene even though Gates herself had training in fencing and was rather large in stature for a woman. Iirc the only time Beverly fights anyone is in the episode Suspicions, where she delivers one kick. ONE KICK. In six seasons of episodes, she got one kick, and you could probably count on your fingers the number of times she even holds a phaser, let alone fires one.
How do you go from that...
To this?
Time is a harsh mistress.
Weight gain is also a harsh mistress. That's what Frakes has coming to him.
When you fight in ww2 get medals, lose a finger and get shot by your own side your allowed to get as fat as you want
He lost a finger?
Yeah. You didn't know that?
I think that showing what was happening outside of the warp bubble really hurt the narrative. We should have been trying to figure things out alongside Crusher.
The same reason you're not attracted to your toaster, it's a piece of property with a specific function.
Pls go away forever
There's a Beverly-centric episode where she did her own stunts and it really works. It's a weird episode because she's so underutilized as an actress throughout the rest of the show.
