Who's hyped about Greg Baldwin's delivery?

His Iroh got better but it was still no Mako. I expect about the same really but who knows.

It'll be the first time we hear Aku at length.

So here's hoping for the best.

Source?

A bit nervous but whatever it is will have to do. I trust Genndy to present it right.

Oh jeez this is really it then.
We'll wait and see.

Is it on Saturday again?

I just hope he doesn't sound FOOLISH

yesh

I don't have a source on me, but I've heard the episode opens with Aku's groggy morning routine, and then griping to his therapist, which he sees because, like Jack, Aku is also in a rough patch.

I've always wondered what an interaction between Iroh and Aku would be like.

What did everyone think about Greg Baldwin's brief debut as Aku in Episode XCII when Scaramouch tried to call him by phone?

It was pretty good, I don't get all the whining

The voice was too altered by the POTS phone connection to really tell.

It felt wrong because it IS wrong.
It might grow on me over time but I doubt it'll ever be as iconic as Makos original version.

Hard to gauge him over the phone, but I dont see him topping the laugh

i could hardly hear it anyway, ill make up my mind on it this saturday though

He sounded a bit off in the phone scene, but I think it will grow on me in his longer scenes. According to Genndy, his impression in the finale was good enough to make Mako's daughter and grandson cry

why does there need to be ten threads at a time? you people are making me hate this show

Mako is irreplaceable. We gotta go easy on Baldwin. He's trying his best, and it's not like we could have gotten anyone better. I think he sounds close enough (hard to say definitely due to the phone's distortion) and he means well. That's enough for me.

We want to see if we can become more annoying than Steven Universe.

sorry that you're retarded enough that having a shitty forum cluttered by a handful of extra threads can make you hate an amazing tv show

Cry in joy, or cry because he butchered it?

cry because after he finished, he punched Mako's daughter in the stomach.

God forbid Sup Forums FINALLY has something good to talk about. Or would you prefer more Sup Forums and SU shit?

With his penis through her vagina.

I'm just hoping he'll do a somewhat decent job.

I'm guessing cry of joy, because otherwise Genndy wouldn't have mentioned it.

He got too in character.

Didn't sound right to me but I'm still giving him the benefit of the doubt. Sounds better in this clip. behindthevoiceactors.com/voice-compare/Samurai-Jack/Aku/

Genndy's talked about how it's impossible to mimic Mako's delivery and timing. Baldwin might not be Mako, but he was apparently still the best out of everyone else they got to audition.

Remember that unlike that clip, Genndy's voice directing here. He might have told Baldwin to go with something different.

>the clip of Mako on the left

He's just. So good.

Autistic nitpicking: The way he pronounces the u in Aku doesn't sound quite right but with Genndy voice directing I'm expecting good results.

If you hurry, you can dig up his corpse, break open the coffin and suck his cock.

>implying I haven't already

13 years, nigga.
We'll stop after the show is fully over.
But let us enjoy the fact that, for ONCE, there is something worth talking about on Sup Forums

Wouldn't it be better to get a guy who actually has a Japanese accent?

Just having a Japanese accent doesn't mean they'd sound like Mako.

oh herro

>final episode fades to black
>no wachaa
>"in memory of Mako"

Thanks

>We're gonna see Aku in HD

Can't wait.

in memory of maku

Just watched the first episode

Fantastico!

Can't wait for the normies to be all over this like Rick & Morty

>Jack is having a total mental breakdown
>Even Aku is down on the dumps
Man, coming back after all these years must really hit hard for these guys

I honestly expect this in the first major Aku episode

Why are you so bitter?

I wonder if that is to make Aku sound better with slight difference with Baldwin's voice. I'm sure he'll do a good job.

I didn't like the way aku sounded over the phone at all, I hope he sounds better but I doubt it

It's so weird to think that Aku could/probably will die. He's probably gotten more laughs then all other characters combined and we almost never actually see him being outright evil. He just seems to likable to die.

R&M was crap from the start and only made worse as it went on.

>TFW Aku is no longer meant to do evil things
>TFW There are no longer any frontiers to spread the evil that is him

No, but if you look for a Japanese actor, you'll probably be able to find one who sounds more like Mako than Greg Baldwin does.

all he has left is jack so he tries to prolong their fight for as long as he can

>jack lost his sword
>aku is tired if evil
>they both just give up because they can't kill each other and have no real reason to fight anymore

>aku loss his porpusse

>we almost never actually see him being outright evil
He's constantly outright evil, but he relishes in it, which is what makes him the best and funniest character in the series.

Okay, so they need to scour Japan to find a Japanese person who sounds closer to Mako. And can voice act. And can speak English.

This isn't as simple as you make it sound.

That's the set-up, probably, or something similar. He'll learn Jack lost his sword by the end of the season's first act, and that's when shit hits the fan.

I've only seen the first episode, but that's how story structure generally works.

I've also heard Aku doesn't really feel like talking to anyone and might be depressed but, again, I can't remember my source, although I do remember that I didn't believe it as much as what I said in my first post, so take it with a grain of salt.

sorry we cut into your 50+ Carol Danvers YAASS QWEEN SLAY threads, you doublenigger

Even Aku's VA in the Japanese dub for SJ didn't sound very much like Mako at all. Finding a Mako soundalike is so much easier said than done.

Genndy himself is probably your source. Him and a bunch of reviews have said that's where Aku is at the start of the season, having given up all hope of ever killing Jack after 50 freaking years of him still being around.

>Aku depressed and seeing a therapist
>every session ends with the therapist hurled into the Pit of Hate
>new therapist next session

You know guys...Grey Griffin voiced the mother of the aku daughters and was also the voice of Princess Mira.

Coincidence? I fucking think not.

It's better than that.

The therapist is also Aku, just in a tweed jacket.

Grey voiced a lot of characters on the show.

Griffin voiced a bunch of characters on Samurai Jack, user. We had a glimpse of the High Priestess under her robes, and she looks nothing like Mira. Hell, she looks closer to fucking Josephine, who was also voiced by Griffin.

It's just Genndy has a lot of VAs he reuses.

Maybe she changed her hair color.

And her body shape?

But when he gets serious he can fuck everyone

Jack's body shape looks different too.

There's a difference between made a little taller and going from buff to practically a twig.

They look nothing alike and they act nothing alike. Occam's Razor says they aren't the same person.

Maybe it's Blossom.

>from buff to practically a twig
Jack looks like a twig to you?
>look nothing alike
You see the High Priestess naked back.
Princess Mira wore armor hiding her body.
>act nothing alike
You mean like demanding and aggressive? Because they both act like that.

user, let it go. Your fanfic isn't coming true and that's that.

Alright but don't be mad if I turn out to be right.
I took some screenshots of both their body shapes and there isn't much of a difference even though the art is drawn differently now. So you can't make the assumption that they look nothing alike.

>every last thing has been corrupted and completely under Aku's influence
>therefore everything is evil
>to evil, good is evil
>Aku becomes good to continue to be evil to his own evil

>nonstop 500+ reply Star threads
>waaaaah mommy they posted the spooky samurai with the bad guy make them stop so I can post kitty cats ad gumdrops

>tfw there will never be a cartoon autistic enough for me to fully enjoy

>Jack in the first episode makes a bunch of long-winded speeches when he has Aku pinned, giving Aku plenty of time to react
>Aku just goes for the kill without a second thought
Aku has his priorities straight.

Saw the episode already
Aku is sleeping and is woken up by henchmen saying they're created more robots to stop Jack. Aku says he doesn't care about Jack anymore ever since he lost his sword. After saying that, he goes to visit a shrink (who is also Aku) and the two get all existential regarding Jack and how long it's been. Funny shit.

From the brief snippet, his speaking style was spot on Aku. Just the voice itself was a bit off.

I'm actually really concerned that the new music guy isn't going to be able to recreate the old series' feel, one of my favorite things about the show.

It's subtle, atmospheric, and sometimes spacey with some east asian influences, it's not just generic hardcore movie music.

I didn't really find JW's soundtrack very stimulating, it just did the job in a satisfying fashion.

>I don't have a source on me, but I've heard
Leave.

Can you back this up at all?

I WANT TO BELIEVE

Pretty much this. If it was a bit more raspy, it would've been spot on to be honest. I'm holding my bias because I want to give Greg a chance since no one could ever replicate Mako. Plus it was over the phone so the voice was tarnished a bit anyways.

Didn't they have a premiere showing where they screened the first three episodes?

>This guy think that any other character than the Scotsman will return
You are like the people wo feverishly insist that Da Samurai will show up as well

See
Don't believe me, screencap it

MAJOR SPOILERS
Jack slits one of the sister's throats next episode after getting stabbed. He nearly bleeds out but falls into a river and is swept away. He's found by a dying wolf and the two nurse each other back to health. Then in episode 3 he has a rematch with the remaining sisters where he massacres them all. One of them he punches her in the head os hard her neck snaps

What about Ashi?

I'm hoping you are telling the truth. Depressed Aku sounds great!

Ashi is the last sister standing. She chases Jack onto a log right on the edge of a cliff, really gives him a run for his money. Her weapon is like two Sais attached to a long chain. Jack makes her spin the chain around the log and the two swing around until Jack is standing on the log holding the end of the chain up, with Ashi dangling off the other end. She cries out at Jack swearing that her hate for him is undying, that she was created just to murder him. Jack doesn't give a shit and he drops her to her assumed death.

But then the log breaks and Jack falls off the cliff too. End episode. I know nothing further than that

The first 7 Daughters fight is honestly my favorite in the whole series. That'll be next episode. If you liked Samurai vs Ninja, you'll probably like that fight too.

Aku is very two faced. He appears to his followers as carefree and smug but when speaking to his psychiatrist (himself in an ascot and glasses) he literally melts into a puddle of anxiety on the couch. It's great. Really liking Baldwin.

Ashi might be alive though since we never see her make impact or bleed or anything. None of her sisters did though I don't think. Jack practically rips them apart

>assumed death
Yeah I can already tell nobody's gonna buy that.

Still, sounds great so far. Saturday can't come soon enough.

youtube.com/watch?v=d1O4aiPsVPg

I want Aku to hire thicc bounty hunters.

I wouldn't be surprised. I was really shocked how quickly Jack cut through the Daughters. It makes sense to keep at least one alive, especially since she's the only one with a name. We'll have to see
Thing that sucks is I have to wait 3 weeks for "new" episodes.

I hope the wolf that saves Jack shows up again though, they had some really cute bonding moments.

Anyone have the picture of one of the sisters bleeding out with a trail of blood in the snow

Incredibly worried, but Mako is one of my favorite actors. I don't want another Arnie Conan film purely because Mako is dead and can't play the wizard / chronicler.

Kinda wish they'd marginalized Aku and had him mostly absent from the series, I thought that was what they were going for with the whole Aku's daughters scene thing.

Between Jack not aging and Aku seemingly absent in the first half of the show, I legit thought they were going to go for an ironic "Jack is unaging AND unable to get back to the past, but Aku has died already off-screen" thing for a moment there.

Just hope they don't over-use him, the phonecall voice sounded really off to me, but I expected that going into it. Hopefully it's not rubbed in my face constantly or I might just drop the series, I duno.

It's not Aku without Mako, but it's not Samurai Jack without Aku. Marginalizing him would only harm the series. Overuse wouldn't be good, either, but he's used almost surprisingly sparingly in the original series as it was. I'm sure Genndy knows what he's doing.

I hope so.
I mean, the art and use of music was fantastic in the last episode, watching it reminded me of why I loved this series - perfect knowledge of when to just let the scenes and the music play themselves out without needless dialogue.

Coming fresh off Rogue One, I'm pretty damn jaded about using dead actors characters in a jarring way though. Like you say, hopefully Genndy knows what he's doing though.

>I swear, I feel like I'm not myself anymore
>I don't even sound the same
