JUST League

I don't get it.

Martian Manhunter and Green Lantern are cooler than Cyborg and Aquaman.

Hell, both MM and GL can be played by black actors.

So why did DC go for Cyberman and Semen instead of the two coolest cosmic characters in The DC universe?

Because Goyer:

>Well, he hasn’t been rebooted but he’s a mainstay in the Justice League. He can’t be fucking called the Martian Manhunter because that’s goofy. He can be called Manhunter… The whole deal with Martian Manhunter is he’s an alien living amongst us… So he comes down to Earth and decides, unlike Superman who already exists in the world now, that he’s just going to be a homicide detective… So instead of using super-powers and mind-reading and like, oh, I could figure out if the President’s lying or whatever, he just decides to disguise himself as a human homicide detective. Dare to dream!”

>I would set it up like The Day After Tomorrow. We discover one of those Earth-like planets… So maybe like… we get the DNA code from that planet and then grow him in a petri dish here… He’s like in Area 51 or something and we’re just basically… doing biopsies on him. Then he gets out and he’s really angry and he fucks She-Hulk.

>GL can be played by black actors.
If you want to waste the character, sure.

Yeah because twisting origins to fit your vision isn't in your repertoire, right?

The perfect starting Justice League should be a mixture of meta, human, alien, and supernatural with their own origin assortment.
>Supes: alien raised as human, chooses to do good as the right thing
>Batman: human, honed to peak, drive for justice
>Wonder Woman: divine origin, built and capable of war but seeking peace
>Martian Manhunter: alien ignorant of Earth cultures but still very willing to help out of similar negative experiences as Bats, but directed towards a different unit(Earth)
>GL: human, chosen by aliens, defender of life but also therefore not isolated to Earth
>Flash: meta, same kind of origin as Supes in terms of good upbringing coupled with a chance for helping people
>Cyborg: a hybrid of meta and human, along with backstory. tragic event + deliverance of potential to do greater good = the man-made hero machine, Cyborg
>Aquaman: Atlantean, aware of the folly of man, but also very aware of the importance of the balance of nature and the greater good thereof.

It's integral to have a good balance of most of these elements. Having one from each Earth race, human, Atlantean, Amazon, Bat, Robot, and Fast, plus Superdude, is just playing token bingo. Everyone needs to be a blend of different concepts that gives them reasons to trust one another and come together.
Ideally include a magic user beyond Wondy because she forays into myth and it would be nice to have a more down-to-earth mystical character inclined as well

They want to reinvent Aquaman and Cyborg is more relevant to the general population at the moment. He's been pushed heavily, been a major star of a fairly popular cartoon, and is featured in a lot of the recent animated movies. These films are designed with non-comic readers in mind. How anyone can miss that by this point is beyond me.

No GL is not cooler then modern Aquaman he is a pathetic bright & glowy faggot.

>a magic user beyond Wondy because she forays into myth and it would be nice to have a more down-to-earth mystical character inclined as well

Literally Shazam

>These films are designed with non-comic readers in mind. How anyone can miss that by this point is beyond me.
But I read a fuck ton of comics and these films are directly aimed at my taste & preferences.
I don't like Cyborg much but I love Aquaman.

>boy thrust with magical prowess beyond his years and responsibility beyond his maturity
>ancient origin without a fate attachment
Good, but...It's still deified empowerment. I was talking more like street-magic. Zatanna would be nice but I'm not sure she fits in the whole founding thing.

I am still mad.
I will always be mad.
On my deathbed I will still be mad.
When the seas heat up and the world descends into global catastrophe I will still be mad.
In the afterlife, when I get to the gates of Heaven, St. Peter and his angels will ask me "Are you still mad about Martian Manhunter?" And my reply will be "Yes."
When the race of man is no more and the ruins of cities have crumbled into dust I will still be mad.
Ancient alien civilizations will find the smoldering, volcanic corpse of the Earth and decode the ancient secrets of the Internet and they will find this post and so my eternal anger will be brought forth into the far-flung reaches of outer space.
When the last tiny flash of heat in the universe dies and all fades away into entropy, my hatred will remain.

I'm still so fucking mad I took the time to write this stupid fucking post, and it still doesn't make me feel even the slightest bit LESS mad

I fucking hate you WB

Aquaman deserves just as much a seat as a founding member as GL and Martian Manhunter. Why they're going with six heroes instead of seven is a mystery.

But really the reason for both of those is money:

My theory is that WB doesn't want GL to be anywhere near the marketing for this movie because of the 2011 film, so they're leaving him to be the ending reveal or some shit.

Cyborg is unfortunately completely necessary because they need one black guy and Cyborg is the most well-known black DC character bar none.

So the DC movies will continue to be bad for the same reason the Marvel movies will continue to be bad: Hollywood executive bullshit.

I'd rather they add Shade, if we're going to that side of the playground. His dinamic is similar to Supes' but different enough that it'll cause conflict (just think of Morrison x Moore but less edgy and with less ridiculous clothing on both sides)

Why do Snyderfags still insist the Dceu is deep and artistic when it's just as, if not more corporate mandated than the Mcu?

>he doesn't find an ancient alien who becomes a black detective, using his superpowers to fight crime, cool

How is that not awesome? I could see it now: an alien who has a human sidekick, while he finds a series of crimes with alien origins, and has to face the sins of his past... Make Denzel Washington Martian Manhunter, and you're done.

You should point out that his last "She-Hulk" comment was a joke, referring to an earlier comment. Actually, that She-Hulk quote isn't in the article, although it might have been in the full transcript.

Cyborg has been a Leaguer since before Goyer said that and before the movies were even an idea. If you want to blame anyone, blame Didio, Johns, and Lee.

because they very obviously do not get more corporate mandates than the MCU. The DCEU has yet to bring in multiple directors for a single movie (like the MCU just did with Strange). The MCU literally drove Edgar Wright away because of how much corporate mandates they had. And Snyder/Terrio/Goyer obviously got way more freedom in crafting their story than any MCU director/writer have.

To be honest, due to the Teen Titans cartoon, i always view Cyborg as a second tier hero.

I can't view him as part of the justice league.

Martian Manhunter sucks. He is way too close to Superman in powers and backstory, has almost no fans and has no good stories.

His last solo series was barely scraping 13K, with Damian Wayne doing double that.

If anyone has an idea for a story about the last son of a dead world, they will used Superman.

That's why the Flash movie has had 3 directors drop out? Why WW and Batman have had 2? Why SS was recut by a trailer company?

>dumb Marvelfag thinks Aquaman wasn't in the JL

kys

>Martian Manhunter and Green Lantern are cooler than Cyborg and Aquaman.
i disagree, strongly in fact

i mean dude just compare the aesthetics, visuals, choreography, score, cinematography etc. to what you see in the mcu

Johns wanted his Justice League run to be the focus of the inevitable JL movie when he started writing. The New 52 reboot in general was trying to change things to a more palatable state for movie treatments, which is why Jim Lee started giving all the costumes all those panels and lines, as if they were in an MCU film, or why Suicide Squad got stuck with Harley Quinn. Or, why Cyborg got locked on the JL. If the reboot didn't happen, we'd probably have gotten a JL movie that was more faithful to the property.

holy fuck this guy is a literal hack.

>So maybe like… we get the DNA code from that planet and then grow him in a petri dish here… He’s like in Area 51 or something and we’re just basically… doing biopsies on him.
kek this has to be sarcasm, because that is motherfucking stupid.

It was Johns fault. Warner did wanted green lantern just not any green lantern. Hal being the gl of this universe means that we the public need years and years to forget the last movie.

It's clearly a DCAUfag more than a Marvelfag.

One has artistic merits and the other looks like a TV show that doesn't know how to work with their budget

He is, Johns just wanted to use the nig spot so John Stewart didn't got the gl job. Its a mess, Johns stupidity and selling of a cyborg movie no one wanted ended up hurting the flash movie he wasn't involved with since he choose to write the better paid jobs of batman and wonder woman. Sadly after that some wb executives still didn't wanted Hal and were aiming for a rookie Kyle, a veteran John and Hal as parallax, Johns obviously hated the idea and now we had a Hal and Johns movie on the works, but that was again delayed. Johns dick move of putting cyborg on the league generated a landslide of stupidity. Why Sup Forums still defends the guy? I have no idea.

No snyderfag has ever said the movies are deep. The argument is that the DCEU movies he has done have substance and that him actually put some thought into it, more than an average pop corn movie. As for artistic. If you are not blind the cinematography speaks for itself.

So in this version, the Flash constructs his costume from spare parts lying around in the garbage every time he wants to change identities?

XD

So a kind of alien-in-black? Taking the strange cases to hide the alien origin?
