Depends, do you like cute and colorful shit? If not, then no, it's pretty much the same. But if you mean does it stop being "I'm a day old and completely retarded" and build a pretty dynamic world with recurring elements and a plot with conflict and mostly resolution, then yes, it gets better.
The first half of the first set of episodes is closer to the first episode, then it picks up for the next half and the set of episodes that just released is where the elements have been established and the characters start developing as the story unfolds.
Spoiler: The situational humor gets complex at some points and there's been multiple dark/heavy scenes. It's definitely not for toddlers, probably more for preteens.

Out of 3 moon flowers shown, only Hanazuki actually protected her moon. Kiazuki is a sociopath unable to use any treasures, male moon flower went exile after a revolution and never planted a useful tree. And there was at least one another moon flower that failed: the dead moon from Strange Gravity clearly had a moon flower once.
No indication there ever was a Moonflower on Hanazuki's moon before she was born. No treasures, no trees, no defenses capable of surviving the Big Bad, and Hemkas were afraid because they didn't knew what Hanazuki is.
