In a perfect world, Venom would be introduced in a Spider-Man movie, which would be an adaptation of both The Death of Jean DeWolf and The Birth of Venom. Eddie would be shown as a sympathetic complicated villain to begin with and would not look like total shit.

In every instance of them talking about a potential Venom standalone movie, they said it wouldn't be associated with the MCU and there's nothing in the announcement that says it is. Likewise, Marvel Studios doesn't seem to have anything to do with it unlike Homecoming.

So no, this might not actually be MCU canon, and even if it is, I can't imagine the man who brought up ASM2 will be able to write a compelling PG-13 Venom movie.
