Why is the Scotsman a match for Jack? I understand that his sword is also magic, but Jack had decades of training under the best, whereas the Scotsman is some guy.

Decades of experience fighting off Akus men.

he's a big guy

He's not anymore. As of Season 4 Jack strictly outclasses him in every category except siren-resistance. That was basically the whole point of the last of of The Scotsman Saves Jack Part 2.

>jack:how did you get good at fighting?
>scottsman: by fightin, wee lad

Look at him
his wife is stronger than both

It's just an archetype that shows up from time to time

Off the top of my head, Scrooge McDuck and the Scotsman from Atomic Robo

He's not. But his personality is the perfect contrast to Jack's without making him an enemy.

This isn't Dragonball Z OP, there are no power levels and numbers telling people who they can and cannot beat. Aku himself has lost to beings besides Jack.

The entire ending of that arc was pointless filler. Should have ended after the Siren battle, but it just kept going with pointless stuff.

>the whole point of the last of of The Scotsman Saves Jack Part 2
unnecessary pointless filler because they ended the story too soon. ruined the episode.

He's full of piss and vinegar lad

MAHJIK RHOONES

It was the best part of that two-parter you plebs.

Some guy part of a warrior tribe with a crazy-ass strong wife who's had decades of combat experience. Not to mention he's likely older than Jack.

>seriously, unironically implying the JUMP GOOD callback wasn't the funniest goddamn thing in the episode

It was filler, absolutely, but this is a show that is 90% filler with virtually no continuity. It's 10 minutes worth of Jack and Scotsman ragging on each other, which are always some of the highest points of the show whenever they occur. I honestly don't understand how anyone could be mad about that.

No it wasn't you vapid little faggot. I bet you like slice-of-life anime.

4 U

Because he's a foil.

the entire franchise is pointless filler

Nothing precludes the Scotsman from being heavily trained

Then again, we don't know a lot about him. This guy is Jack's closest friend and he never even bothered to ask what his name is

Its not like we know the scotsman's name either.

WHAT D'YE THINK O' THAT, YOU...

It's finally happened. We can now say that every episode ever was filler.

He's just a good ass fighter, what's hard to get?

While he definitely made Jack break a sweat, Jack has been outmatched within the series, by those cat hunters and the Guardian.

I wasn't mad about this, but when I was first watching the latter half of that ep, I expected it to have some kind of a point, but then it just hit me than it really didn't.

kind gentleman

Are you really that much of a worthless cockgobbler? Shit opinion, kill yourself.

I think you missed one.

Cat Hunters functioned as a group and alone were probably worse, and Blue Guardian had thousands of years of experience.

I'm in agreement with the user, kill yourself you insipid cunt

I accept your surrender.

I actually wonder if he knows jack's name. He usually calls him "friend" or "laddie" rather than by name, the same way jack's parents always call him "my son"

Yeah but he's engineering, not security.

Because years of whacking something with a sword =/= actual training with a sword

The Scotsman is just used to overpowering things, that is it. He does not have the intense training Jack has.

The whole episode was meant to compare western brute force and senseless determination with eastern training and discipline.

RICE-NIBBLIN, SLANTY-EYED, CHINGCHONGIN, PEARL HARBOR BOMBIN, SHOGUN WORSHIPPIN, CURDLE-SKINNED CUMSTAIN OF A WHELP

You have to keep in mind they're fighting on a bridge. Jack's mobile as fuck, so fighting in a more open space would've probably resulted in a Jack victory
