In the first episode, Aku says that he's now free to terrorize the world "as in days long past," but a later episode establishes that Jack's father was the one who sort of released/created Aku not even a year before Jack was born. Ignoring the question of how Jack's mother goes from looking 20 while pregnant to looking 50 by the time Jack is a small child, what was Aku talking about in the first episode?

Mass of darkness that was destroying shit before the gods arrived.

I still don't understand how shooting a mass of darkness with an arrow gave it sapience and personality.

A poison, magically charmed arrow.
In an attempt to destroy it, the murderous intent probably awakened Aku. Or just the magic involved woke him up. Not worth thinking too hard about, really.

The sun was there too.

The magic spell caused the green Poison and red fire from the sun to combine with the inky void

Oh, fuck, that makes perfect sense.

Aku is basically Amatsu Mikaboshi, the primordial darkness that predates creation. Jack's father merely let him lose

In the episode where you say he's "created" he himself says Jack's father reawakened him. That might have been his first time on Earth but it was clear even in the start of that episode that he's a cosmic being that fights with this gods, it's perfectly likely he's been on different worlds and been laid dormant/reawakened many times before.

>One part arcane evil, one part mortal ailment, one part celestial energy
>Aku has exhibited the ability to use mysticism such as ESP or scrying, biological infection/mutation/augmentation and laser beams
>Aku's common forms are his demonic humanoid state or some form of poisonous or firebreathing creature

I'm wondering if Aku's personality is a combination of personalities of all the people Aku absorbed while being a formless black pool.

>Aku is Jinichi

>Aku's common forms are his demonic humanoid state or some form of poisonous or firebreathing creature
Except when he gets his ass kicked by Jack and turns into a mouse or a frog or something.

He always existed, and was sealed away after causing untold destruction and mksery. Jack's father simply woke him up.

>Common forms
>Reading comprehension

I don't know how anyone doesn't think this. It seemed pretty obvious.

>common forms
Any form he assumes can be considered a "common form" based on the amount of black goo he still has left.

What I don't understand is why Jack doesn't immediately hack anything with green skin, red eyebrows and wears black to fucking pieces because it's probably Aku trying a new scheme.

So he killed and took Mako's personality with him.

TOO SOON

>Jack's father was the one who sort of released/created Aku not even a year before Jack was born
And he was also shortly after defeated, so it makes perfect sense that the days he terorized the world were long past.
Also he was released by Jack's father not created.

>because it's probably Aku trying a new scheme.
>probably

There you have it. Jack's too good to start slaughtering anything that remotely resembles Aku, just on the off chance that they're not related to him at all.

Once he does that, you know damn well Aku is going to make a diplomatic treaty with some planet full of aliens with his color scheme and invite them to Earth just to fuck with Jack.
