X-Men Evolution thread

This place needs a X-Men Evolution thread. What does Co think of the show, did you like it? hate it? Did it end to soon? How does it compare to the beloved 90's X-Men TAS and Wolverine and the X-Men?
Been binge-watching the entire 52 episode over the last week and it was the first time I have seen the series since it aired, so damn many years ago. (Starting to feel here old guys)
Damn i forgot how great the show was.
- The animation was top notch.
- Great sound and music.
- Awsome storyline, where the show took its time to build the characters and develop them throughout the entire show. Just look how much time the spent on building a character like Rogue in the first season. Also the made small and subtle hints of future events in the series, like Spyke starting to have trouble with his power and a few episode later he has the Morlocks arc.
- My only real complaint about the show was the last season. It felt a bit rushed and was much shorter than the rest of the seasons of the show. But still I feel, that I need to credit the show and the last season, for giving it a fine ending and for once a kinda upbeat and happy endning for the X-Men.
-The show even gave us a glimps of what could have been if it went on, with the dark phoenix saga and much more.

Bub' ya' can't be for real that no one has anything to say about the show?

I WANT TO FUCK KITTY PRYDE.

Oh user

Loved the voice work done by the Ocean talent pool.

David Kaye did a great job as Xavier and Apocalypse.

Indeed, the voice work was top notch, very talented people they got to do it.

...

>tfw you meet the Rogue to your Cyclops
>tfw it doesn't work out

Best canon ship

...

Rumor has it, that it would have been a possibilty in a future season due to Jean becoming the Dark Phoenix. But I dunno, as they also planted the seeds for the classic Rogue+Gambit stuff.

Pros
>Wolverine isn't in the spotlight
>Jean is a badass
>Cyclops is a badass
>Good voice acting
>Its the comfiest X series
>Magneto looked so fucking cool
>Nightcrawler was a better version of Beast Boy from the TT cartoon before that show began
>Later arcs feel like X-men again and executed Apocalypse very well
>Rogue at times
>Has the best Toad period
>Mutant prejudice is done a little more subtlety and nuance than the 90s show

Cons
>Kitty is an insufferable cunt
>Even though the first 2 seasons are comfy, they can be pretty boring
>Spyke is trash
>Storm was pretty underwhelming
>The Brotherhood outside Toad is meh
>Rogue at times
>The vision from the epilogue isn't a thing

Solid and underrated series. If I had to recommend an X-men cartoon to a new fan, this is a great one to start.

So did the 4th season get released on DVD anywhere? Or was it just digitally?

America got 3/4 seasons on DVD.

>OH SHIT SCOTT SUMMERS CAN SHOOT LASERS FROM HIS EYES AND JEAN GRAY CAN CONTROL EVERYTHING!
>LETS BULLY THE SHIT OUT OF THESE PEOPLE LMAO WHAT COULD GO WRONG

Agree with you on this 100% great summary user.

Not sure user, got the entire series from a torrent, with season 1-3 looking great, but all the season 4 rips I could find is ripped from the channel it was aired on, with mediocre quality. It seems like season 4 has yet to be released on dvd or bluray, but it looks like it is on amazon and itunes. So a better quality is out there.

>>Kitty is an insufferable cunt
Just like the comics.

I enjoyed the show, not as much as TAS but it was good. All the rogue porn from it is great though

>Spyke is trash
Eh, I was down with them making him a disfigured vigilante protector of the morlocks.
So he only sucked for like 95% of the show.

I thought Quicksilver was fun due to Richard Ian Cox's fast talking performance.

Goth Scarlet Witch was a cool idea also, though her character....was kinda yeah.

Also another major con I found is Jean's powers. They seem to vary in how powerful they are, sometimes she can lift giant boulders with little effort and at other times she can barely lift a loudspeaker with them. Also Cyclops beams are the same deal, but his googles could factor into that.

I like Rogue and Scott

nobody's here for xmen

This show introduced me to Quicksilver and now he's my favorite character.

This series gave us the best Rogue, and the gayest Nightcrawler, and the most fun-loving professor.

I do wish they used Nightcrawlers holographic device more. They could have had a lot of fun episodes with that.

I'm rewatching it right now and I forgot how dumb it could get at times, like when Professor X went all passive agressive with Kitty's parents trying to earn their trust.
Still lots of fun though, even the one shot episodes like the Legion one are really enjoyable.

I found out the company that made the official statues from the show was in my home town. That was kinda interesting? Local comic shop ended up buying a lot of them when the company went under. They never made Kurt though.

It is pretty cheesey, but I still really enjoy it.
