I finally got around to watching the first three episodes of Orville. I watched the 9 episodes of STD, and found it to be very Average, not as SJW as I thought it would be (especially compared to NuWho nowadays...), but was very bored and found it quite generic. Episode 7 was the only episode I felt was "fun".
Now with the Orville, I really enjoyed the first three episodes, despite finding a lot of the jokes hit and miss. The characters are incredibly likeable, and the production values, while low, are very appealing somehow, reminds me a lot of TNG, which I watched when I was younger (though haven't since).
I didn't find it to be SJW really at all, not even the third episode about the Moclan baby being born female instead of male (and having her sex changed to male at the end). I only saw some of TNG, but I know that there was an episode with the exact same plot. It felt very much a part of the universe, and told a compelling story that wasn't too preachy...unlike NuWho.
So what do you guys think? I merely thought STD was painfully average, but Orville from what I can tell is a lot of fun.
P.S. Am I a heathen for preferring Alara with Eyebrows?

Orville is the best new show of 2017 on any platform.
Caleb Butler
I like both. DISCO obviously isnt the comfy Trek template, but it is exciting and did a good job setting up several interesting dynamics. The Orville is very comfy and classic, and you're about to watch two of the best episodes in 4-5, where it really picked up imo. I hope both continue for a number of seasons honestly. That said, I hope they kill the DISCO doctor off, he's a weak link, his line delivery is atrocious.

Here's the difference between STD and The Orville: they're both literally garbage
Ayden Carter
STD is so unpleasant in so many levels, the aesthetic makes me want to puke and the characters all deserve to die.
Mason Ortiz
The problem with STD is it's ignoring that it is supposed to be star trek and just making shit up every episode, I like the action though, Orville just have more sci fi style stories and good waifus
Cooper Jenkins
>the aesthetic makes me want to puke and the characters all deserve to die.
omg really, no hyperbole?
Nicholas Butler
>but I know that there was an episode with the exact same plot not really, that TNG episode was more like an analogue to the conversion therapy debate, where as the Orville episode is more closely related to performing surgery on intersex babies, but obviously could be broadened to the children using HRT debate
Nolan Wright
>omg really, no hyperbole? no,not really, the constan shaking of the camera and the lens flares mixed with those grim colours make me dizzy. as for the characters, they are all mean and take horrible decisions in a situation of life or death,so yes, they metaphorically and practically deserve to die.
Samuel Adams
Orville is a stealth hit because non live viewers are watching the fuck out of it
Levi Reed
Even it's live ratings put it as #2 on Fox. So it was always a safe bet for renewal.
Colton Harris
>just making shit up every episode No really, it's mushroom warp drive. Aren't our writers just SUUUUPER clever?
Jace Davis
Hey man, I like both shows. What are some other shows that you like/hate so I can understand where you're coming from?
Brayden White
Spock knew about them in 1969
Matthew Ross
Orville was made with love and care and it shows.
Joseph Anderson

Jace Nelson
>mfw when they call Discovery 'STD' >mfw when they call Voyager 'STV' >mfw when they call Deep Space Nine 'STDS9'
Leo Gomez
DISfags get dissed.
Jaxon Moore
Why do you care if we call it STD?
Lincoln Murphy

Luke Lee
Don't you DARE answer for me you MOTHER FUCKER. Don't you fucking dare.
Ryan Clark
Autism
Evan Morris
NO! It's not autism. I'm just sick and fucking tired of you ALT-RIGHT loosers calling it STD and I don't appreciate someone answering a question DIRECTED towards ME.
