‘American Gods’: Michael Green & Bryan Fuller Exit As Showrunners Of Starz Series
Michael Green and Bryan Fuller, the masterminds behind Starz’s American Gods, have exited the big-budget drama series. We hear the duo informed the cast of their departure today.
Fuller and Green created the adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s 2001 award-winning novel and served as executive producers/showrunners on the show, which debuted this past spring and earned a quick Season 2 renewal.
We hear more than half of the scripts for Season 2, which has been targeting a mid-2018 premiere, have been written. Gaiman may come on board as a co-showrunner but that is in flux as he also has series Good Omens for Amazon.
Word is that, with Green and Fuller working on multiple projects — including the high-profile Amazing Stories reboot at Apple for Fuller and a sequel to Orient Express for Green — Season 2 has not been moving fast enough for producer Fremantle Media North America, which led to the showrunner change.
Jaxson Green
As long as Mad Sweeney gets more screen time.
Liam Gray
This shitshow's still running? I quit after two episodes. The only good thing to come out of this is Mcshanes performance.
James Miller
I don't like Bryan SJW Fuller anyway
Tyler Davis
They can probably foresee how bad it'll get. Literally 8 episodes then finally
>I AM ODIN
like we didnt know
Brayden Butler
It's a pretty underwhelming show for the most part but it has some nice set pieces at times.
Cameron Sanders
Wait what?
Lincoln Price
It wasn't great to begin with, and it's the first time that Fuller has disappointed me. However, without him, it's definitely going to suck exponentially more. No reason to bother with season 2.
Hunter Brooks
Fucking hell Bryan sort your life out. At the very least it has to be said every time it looks like he's burned bridges with the last people who'll work with him someone new enters the fray.
Sebastian Anderson
Fuller has talent but I feel like he just focuses too much on specific scenes 1 scene per episode would be good/fantastic and the rest would be meh.
Jonathan Turner
Only good things about this show were Odin and the Irish guy everyone else was a bad actor and boring.
Grayson Thompson
good they ruined a show that literally writes itself by shoving sjw bullshit in it.
Jose Lopez
>bryan fuller is gone
maybe it wont be full of his directorial interference then
Daniel Gray
I watched about 5 episodes of that before dropping it and regretting ever having started it.
Robert Reed
>10 minute gay sex scene where a genie magic jizzes i a mans asshole.
character leaves after one episode.
>Mr. Nancy reinforces black victimhood. we wuz yaass queens ....why.
Evan Rivera
Wednesday, Sweeney, Media and Mr. World were great. I could take or leave the rest.
As someone who enjoyed the book, it's sad that the show missed the mark by such a large margin. It seems like they shoehorned a bunch of unnecessary social and political commentary.
Jeremiah Robinson
flop
Nathaniel Long
>Wednesday, Sweeney, Media and Mr. World
This sounds like something a precocious 13 year old would write for NaNoWriMo.
Bentley Bennett
>That episode with shadow and whats his face playing chess >constant slo-mo closeups of food, cigs, etc >this went on for most of the episode
Oliver Watson
good
now fuller can focus on what matters, hannibal
James Jenkins
Bryan Fuller is a piece of shit. He never finishes what he starts and moves on to the next thing when he wants to. Dude needs to commit.
Jose Rodriguez
What is that even supposed to mean? Those are the names of the characters. Back to Sup Forums now, dipshit.
Henry Anderson
Fuller is a total and complete hack and the show itself is utter fucking garbage.
Asher Morgan
Horrendous ratings all season. No surprises here. I'm sure Starz deeply regrets signing up for season 2 before they saw the ratings for the first full season.
