Point is writers have good and bad comics. Ms Marvel is one of Reed's good comics and if you actually want to know why Carol had some fans back in the day that would be the best place to start.

Serious question: Is it possible that you've mistaken threads devoted to Illuminating Comics for actual sincere appreciation for Carol Danvers? Becuase there's a really famous parody re-write of Captain Marvel comics which is really well-loved here because it makes fun of the trainwreck which Carol's character has become which we DO love talking about and it occurs to me that at first glance you might mistake a thread about that for one about canon Carol.

She's definitely among the worst comic book characters I can think of. But Marvel realized all their good female characters were X-Men, so they had to start digging in and pulling out C-listers like Carol Danvers and Luke Cage's retired-superhero-wife Jessica. They needed women characters.
