No troll. Could you please explain why am I supposed to consider Nathan from Ex Machina a villain? He even has an entry in the villain wiki. I don't understand. Is it because he was rude to the chinese robot? I am rude to my router every other day. Am I a villain too?

>Am I a villain too?

no, just a retard

Same way Dr Frankenstein is a villain.

but he isn't a villain

care to explain your point of view?

>ever mobie neds a villain

>Dr Frankenstein
>not a villain
So are you just acting retarded?

>autism

how is dr. frankenstein a villain? he did an experiment, hurting no one. the experiment goes wrong because of another person's retardness and of people fear that triggers the monster. He's not responsible for the bad thing the monster "does" in any way.

care to explain your point of view?

Because he goes against blue pill standards.

>I am rude to my router every other day
Don't know why I laughed so hard at this

>why am I supposed to consider Nathan from Ex Machina a villain?
Because his views conflict with those of the redditor self insert. The movie clearly shows he was right and the ginger cuck fucked everythig up.

>Duus sex wuz a smurt moobie for a smurty poops lik me! 10/10 10/10 10/10

In the book Frankenstein did his experiment alone except for the collecting bodies bit, and the experiment went fine. He created a miracle but hated it because it was too ugly, so he abandoned it. EVERYTHING the monster does is because of Frankstein's actions. The monster shows more compassion than Frankenstein does, who is only obsessive and lustful. The book is much more about revenge than a science experiment gone arwy.

Do people actually consider him a villain? Not sure if this thread is just trolling.

Something I don't understand is that, people seem to consider the dancing scene a twist revealing that the Chinese robot is indeed a Chinese robot, while I thought that was obvious from the beginning.
Also,
>a cruelly malicious person who is involved in or devoted to wickedness
Maybe not exactly a villain, but I think making intelligent AI to abuse it makes you a shitty person. It's not what you are doing, but what that says about you.

I don't remember but did he Rape a machine

let's say I create a heavy sculpture. I hate it so I abandon it in my workshop. People see it, they hate is too so they throw it out of the window, hitting a group of people standing in the street.
Am I responsible for those people's injuries?

> It's not what you are doing, but what that says about you.
this is so stupid... and one of the reason contemporary society is fucked

not every villain has to do something horrible to be a villain. sometimes it's just their vibe. in this case, whether what he did was bad is very debatable, but you can't deny that he had a sinister attitude.

I fucked your wife OP I'm drive

Literally a robot he programmed, son. It has no feelings, its feeling were programmed by the dude. He jist built a few sex toys. the difference between the chinese robot and a vibrator is that the chinese robot has more automatic respinse parameters, it doesn't think or feel. Thinking the creator is shitty is exactly the mistake the redditor made, which led to his death.

>he does what i dont like
>he must be villain
literally this movie

because movie sets it up as if he is a villain for a big part of the movie even if he really isnt

do you understand how stories work

>scientist creates sex robot for the sole purpose of raping it
>titless and ugly
why

>being this much of a fucking brainlet that narrative dictates your thoughts

That's called negligence, so yes you're responsible. A better analogy would be, 'I create a statue I hate, so I abandon it in my attic then years later It falls though my roof and crushes my home and family. You should have had the care to move it. The monster wanted revenge, it wasn't wild.

Sounds like Ex Machina

he used the fuckboi under false pretense to make an experiment. also he created a sentient being, kept it locked up and abused it if I remember correctly.

Is your router sentient?
Why did he even want intelligent sexbots?

>this is so stupid... and one of the reason contemporary society is fucked
Quote me and say that to my face. Contemporary society is fucked for other entirely other reasons. Stop exaggerating, you are going nowhere with this.
You create "life" just to be a cretin against it. You program it to feel good or bad, just to make it feel bad. You make the dumb argument with the router, I can make the dumb argument with a kid. You create this life and actively make it suffer for its lifetime. That makes you evil.
Maybe the difference between him and the redditor is that as the creator he can seen the artificial naure of the sex robot while the redditor can't. As I said, it says something about you. I don't consider him a villain, but not the best person.

So do you just post these in every thread about every movie? You're going to kill the meme lad

you don't consider him a villain because you chose to identify with him instead of the protagonist.

I'm gonna blow youre minds.

The movie isn't about AI. It's about women.

Well, he's definitely not a great human being, he was using the redditor for his experiments without the redditor knowing, but he wasn't a villain like some were saying. Well, he could be seen as one if you consider he manipulated someone to participate in an experiment with a robot that literally ended up killing them, so there was a risk of death that he never disclosed to the redditor.

Your router cant think and isnt sentient.

Hes a villain since hes a psychopath with a god complex, he created mechanical slaves and teached them hate. He treated his employee like shit and finally gets himself killed.

I swear, if i was Caleb i would stab that crazy fucker in the face by day 2. What an antisocial creep.

user, what's your type?

Maybe he's trying to ease Wojak's suffering by killing this meme.

>Is your router sentient?
was the chinese sexbot? No and no.
Your point?

>what's your type?
definitely NOT Alicia Vikander.
I like girls who look like - you know - girls...

I thought they established that she was in the end. i probably should rewatch.

I didn't think he was a villain either. He was a creator he lost a part of his humanity while developing his creations, doesn't necessarily mean he did anything wrong. It's not like the AI could actually feel (most of what Nathan said to our soyboy protag were lies to help his experiment).
I just think it's a classic tale of man playing god and creating his own undoing.

He wasn't a villain, he was a victim to a trope.

the villain should be the virgin soyboy idiot who fell for obvious robot trickery.

The protagonist was much more villainous. Ruining this man's life's work for robot pussy.

Yeah. He was a villain in the same way the old dude in Jurassic Park was.

there is no such thing as consent for machines. they're machines. they do what you teach them to do. if they get angry about you fucking them it's because you programmed them to be angry.
this movie is retarded.

so, he wasn't

>robots operate in rationality
>in order to escape they would fake feelings as that would be the most rational way
>robot leaves redditor because he's not useful anymore
am i supposed to feel bad for protagonist?

Hold on to your butts.

nope, both characters got what they deserved for different reasons.

So Oscar Isaac's character ultimately deserved his demise because he was dumb enough to have invited that insecure and emotionally unstable idiot to talk to one of his best creations?
I agree. Should've invited someone who wasn't sucking on his mom's tits for too long.

did he fuck the velociraptor younglings to personally bond with them?
>ALAN!

Yeah that IS what I mean. If he'd surveyed him for so long, he should've realised that the entire plan would backfire.

Seriously how did that soyboy fall for her shit? He was explicitly told that the robot was programmed with the ultimate purpose of escaping. Anyone with a working brain would understand that it would only try to win your sympathy so it could manipulate you.
But I guess thirsty virgins don't have working brains.

his crimes/flaws were negligence and arrogance, which are crimes/flaws all the same.

b-but her feelings for him should overwrite rationality.

oh god you're right I've heard that argument before
>operates on nothing but mathematical rationale
>did not evolve from an animal that needed a variety of instincts in order to function in a complex social structure
>b-but muh feelings

what fucking feelings she's a robot

the proper term should be antagonist

he is only the "bad guy" because he's not the main character

Stupid? totally
Villain? not so
You may consider him a villain based on the meaning of his actions, he made a chink robot that can't speak and only good for fug and dancing, so he'll trigger every SJW and feminist, but he is a manipulative tho, but that was a part of the experiment, so we can say he's just a mad scientist, he didn't really hurt anybody other than getting himself killed, as a creator he can do whatever the fuck he wants to his creations, they're not human, their AI which we still don't know if it's true AI

His only mistake was allowing a beta numale normie into his secret base.

but that was his plan - cherry picked numale for experiment.

We're not empathetic to cows, why should we be empathetic towars machines?

If you felt bad for the robots, something is wrong with you. Just like there's something wrong with people feeling bad about eating cows.

Nathan did absolutely nothing wrong and the ginger is a retard,

We are empathetic to cows, enough to give them a merciful kill, anybody hurting an animal in a sadistic way has a problem in the head, this is why chinks are looked down upon for their treatment to dogs (and humans).
A robot is a different thing, it doesn't have feelings (unless you gave it that), humans can't make an artificial mind, they couldn't even decode their own; robotic laws are a joke

the machine was definitely NOT sentient. It only acted as such to deceive Caleb, since it's only programming was to find a way to get out.

things went wrong because of Nathan's drinking issues

Imagine if we actually create ai and instead of living as neets all day having bot slaves we have to work for ai bosses because of liberal laws that treats them equally. Fucking hate liberals I swear they will push for this shit

Why the fuck should anyone ever be allowed to be a neet? Much less entire populations
What a fucking waste of resources

>there is no such thing as consent for machines

Doesn't that make anything sexual you do to them rape in the same way that it does for children and animals?

Didn't Gleeson's character know a fair bit about A.I himself?

How the fuck didn't he know about an "A.I Box"? It's like simplest most entry level concept.

Because you A.I to do everything as slaves

Literally me
sans the money

He's not. AVA is the villain.

Dr. neglect of the monster caused the monster to become inherently 'bad'. Since his neglect and rejection stemmed the destructive tendencies of the creature, one could consider him a villain

and more importantly sans the hot chink robot

No, you fucking idiot. Machines have no feelings and can feel no pain. Children and animals do and can.

no as some guy earlier said his only mistake was to get blackout drunk every night. For a man who put so much effort into setting this whole thing up he was really short sighted about the possible problem that his heavy drinking would open up over these three days or something that the ginger was at his crib.

Because he abuses brave feminist AI you fucking rapist pig.

>b-but the machine creator guy s-said they c-can feel the fugging

growing up is realizing he was the good guy and soulless succubi and cucks are the villains

meany man works out and doesnt treat the gf simulator as sacred

>why should we follow our heart's desires and create more art or innovative technology instead of slaving away at some dumb job to keep the neoliberal world order afloat?
fuck robots. When will people become sentient?

and sans the ability to grow a beard you babyfaced homo

>neet
>creating art/technology
?

>a machine is the same thing as a human AI
The absolute state of American education.

>I like girls who look like - you know - girls...
This must be gayest post on Sup Forums right now.

>Seriously how did that soyboy fall for her shit?
I too probably would have.
robot with AI =/= robot

He wasn't a villain, the toaster was. He was however an idiot.

This movie wasn't an allegory of good vs. evil. It was incel vs. volcel.

Tits or gtfo

Because it's absurd and difficult to imagine, but the OP pretends it is normal. Comedy comes from unexpected scenarios.

That was my educate an autist post for the day

Finally some film discussion on Sup Forums.
>How is Nathan a villain?
He used Caleb as a guinea pig without his consent.
He invaded his privacy by looking at his porn searches.
I think he also threatened violence against him
Trivia: Did you know that the actor who played Caleb in Ex Machine was the same guy who played Ash in the Black Mirror episode "Be Right Back"? How ironic that a guy who got basically killed by an A.I plays an A.I himself in another work

So is the criteria required for sex both consent AND absence of pain?

What if you didn't cause the animal pain in the sex act or if you had a robot that could feel pain?

He's not a villain because he is mean to his robot waifus. He is a villain because he is a social media mogul and collects information about everybody for resale, as a business model.

>Hes a psychopath
>I would brutally kill an innocent, unarmed man because he was mean to his robots
Roasties everyone...

I never saw him as a villain. He's just aware of how things are. The bed-wetting numale sealed his own fate. This movie was so- so at best until the ending (one of my all time favorites)

Are there any other movies that explore the possibility of a woman gaining intelligence and consciousness?

No, things went wrong because the beta cuck fell for the robot's trickery. Something he was explicitely warned about multiple times. He even went so far as to destory the failsafes to prevent shit from getting out of control.

One might argue that this is the sort of thing Isaac's character was going for, but either way the redditor is who fucked it all up.

Why won't anyone think of the dance floors? He tore it to pieces.

He's not a villain.
But he is a huge asshole. Like all the characters in the movie.
One of my favourite aspects of it, actually.

>Machines have no feelings and can feel no pain. Children and animals do and can.
Any neural net based intellect can feel "pain". The whole system is based on "emotions", it's just brainlets like you who think there's an ethereal space ghost remotely controlling naturally occuring machines of this type.

>create something
>negligence

Ishygddt

No, but he tore up the fucking dancefloor.

Hubris, I guess. In narrative fiction thats the most damning thing you can do.
