Is there a good movie list for a pleb trying to get recommendations?
I looked at imdb top 250 but it seems to have a lot of overrated garbage like Schindler's List.

Here's a list of classic film noir, friend
filmsnoir.net
What genre do you like, user? I'll recommend you some.
Does anyone have a good list for foreign films specifically of any sort?
Thanks, I was looking for stuff that focused on more classic cinema and foreign stuff too.
I like foreign films of any sort, but beyond that mostly dramas, whether they be romance or crime. Not really into comedies as much.
Take a look at Lubitsch, specifically Heaven Can Wait and The Shop Around the Corner.
Heaven Can Wait has nothing to do with the 1978 Warren Beatty one, they're entirely unrelated and just have the same title.
french new wave films
watch memories
M covers both
Schindlers list is alright, it's overrated but it's not garbage.
Son of Saul is the true holokino though.
Still Walking- Koreeda
The Piano Teacher- Haneke
Rosemary's Baby- Polanski
A Woman under the influence- Casavettes
Short Term 12
A Streetcar named Desire- Kazan
The Conversation- Coppola
Once Were Warriors
Summeren Med Monika- Bergman
Bicycle Thieves
Some of my favourites i can think of

has some good lists
OP any film that can be considered 'drama' you can skip and you're good to go
lol what
Drama films always get good reviews because they are studies of the human condition but they're all the same overly emotional try hard flicks where nothing of substance actually occurs
You'll probably come to appreciate them when you get older
I am older and that's how I came to the realisation, some dramas are great but you won't have to ask around much to know what the winners are, for most part it's a good guideline to stick to
Akira Kurosawa is a meme but his classics are just that
Ok, so you didn't really mean 'all'? Most are not good, sure, but that's true of everything.
What are your favourite 10 Drama films then? I just find it such a bizarre idea to skip them, because imo you'd be missing out on most of the really great movies, and I love genre films as well.
You were making out during Schindlers list?
I would however definitely prefer to sit through a mediocre most other films than a mediocre slow drama.
>nothing of substance actually occurs
Because they tend to focus on character, not plot
You need to watch more than half of this list to move out of pleb status.
>tfw 77/250
>Mulholland drive
You almost fooled me, reddit
>foreign stuff too

Did you study this in school?
No. It was a rec from a Macfadyen fan. Turned out to be a great film, a good mix of comfy and sad. Is it studied in schools? Pissed to find out the director died of bowel cancer three years later.
in kiwiland
He said good movies.
Lol, that makes sense. I'm not a Kiwi, I'm a Brit. iirc there's a scene that was cut from the version I saw where Paul (Macfadyen) has drugged fuelled choking sex with a barmaid or something? I'm glad they took that scene out, I don't think it added to his character at all.
