Unsettling Movies

Unsettling movies thread. Often we search for our newest "horror" fix, but I can tell you as a "horror" fan that some of the most unsettling movies can be found outside the mainstream. REQUESTING MORE UNSETTLING MOVIES.

"The Cure" Kyoshi Kurosawa, 1997

The definition of unsettling.

>Watching shit

this is the only movie to make me feel physically unwell after 30 minutes. I couldn't watch it. the tone/camera/lighting/scenes are so dank and depressing it fucks up your mental state.

would not recommend to anyone

Thanks for the recommendation user. I remember seeing this movie long ago. Lars Von Trier directed some real good ones. Dancer in the Dark makes me cry, and Breaking the Waves is a good movie about faith.

I recommend you check out Michael Haneke's The Seventh Continent. Don't read anything about the movie. Just watch it. It's one of those movies that leaves you feeling so empty inside by its end.

people say this is disturbing but imo it's a horror comedy. i laughed all the way through

>He hasn't watched Irreversible

Taxidermia

This was a good film. Nowhere near as unsettling as some other things posted in this thread.

>Irreversible

This. That's your ultimate reply, OP.

Irreversible
Lost Highway
Blue Velvet
Inland Empire

The king of comedy

Out of all the only thing I watched that made me feel sick.

Seidel is great. Watch his Paradise stuff.

...

I think this film would fit

Audition
Visitor Q
Naked Lunch

The wailing is a great unsettling Korean movie I think you'll enjoy it.

I've been to the premiere screening of paradise hope.
Another one that could fit in this thread is 'The seventh continent' by Haneke, though I doubt many here would appreciate it for it aged quite poorly.

>The seventh continent
Well if you read the thread carefully, you'll see that it has been mentioned twice before your post already, one mention being the actual OP.

Irreversible is garbage

I also found Benny's Video more disturbing than Seventh Continent.

Do you even know how to reply to a post?

It's terrible, his worst film by far.

Audition

Oh my bad. On another note, how is Funny Games?

Wailing is way overhyped. Still an entertaining movie but it's not even close to how good South Korea usually is

I liked it. The one Austrian fucker is quite charismatic in it.
Definitely not his best though; his 'flattest' work probably even. Still strong scenes.
I think Caché is his best work but I also consider Amour and White Ribbon modern masterpieces
