The show jumped the shark when AMC pulled that cliffhanger at the end of season 6, that's when it became clear that they didn't care at all about creative integrity or the fans and just wanted to boost declining ratings. Since then its been absolute dogshit. The only thing worth tuning in for is Negan's goofy, memetastic performance, and even he's barely around anymore because the greedy kikes at AMC don't want to pay JDM too much.
Rick went to them because he knew they were still outnumbered even after taking down all the outposts. He took the risk that they wouldn't kill him because then as he said his people would come and destroy them. He knows they're not trustworthy but they basically have no choice but to join with Rick for the war if they want to live.
It wasn't the best plan ever but it wasn't as retarded as people are saying either.
It's better than last season definitely. But they're still buttfucking the best storyline in the comics

After Darabont got kicked out, this show was always visually flat and uninteresting, but goddamn they really are working hard to set a new lowbar this season. There are tv series from 25 years ago with a better photography and camera work I mean. I'm not even joking. This season is particularly atrocious even by the ridiculously low standard they have had previously.
How would you guys have honestly fixed season 7 and 8? Lets suppose they showed Abraham killed at end of season 6 and then killed Glenn at premiere of season 7. How would you fix the rest?
I never read the comics but that was kinda shocking to me too. Glenn was one of my favorites and he grew well in the series as a character.

Watching the show gradly depleting itself from season to season is already hard enough. But knowing the comics and them watching the show getting fucked up seems to be an even harder thing to cope with.

Yeah man. I completely agree. I wish this show was good, and i had high hopes for this arc because i read the comic right after the Negan Cliffhanger and thought that it would add a much needed change of pace, but they still managed to fuck it up. I had so much high hopes for the Whisperer arc, but after seeing them butcher this arc so fucking hard, I know that they can't do it.
Even the action is worse. The way they direct the action fucking sucks and i hate that weird little action zoom they do. It looks retarded.
