So pretty much all you have to do is believe? thats it?

so pretty much all you have to do is believe? thats it?
or am i too stupid to understand?

it was kinda interesting when they were going into hell, but once they were actually in there they didnt really do anything interesting with it. just some spooky hooded guy and stone monsters.

Who knows. Did they even really get out of hell?

there isnt really anything that leads you to believe that they didnt.

Believe and act! That girl was hardcore

I mean they kinda just jumped down a hole and popped out in what appeared to be above ground, but didn't they just go deeper into hell?

this was very heavily explained in the movie idk how you didnt understand it. they say something along the lines of there is no way out only through or hell is mirrored so going down is really going up, its been years since i saw the movie so i cant remember exactly what they say

yeah but thats kind of a dumb way to end it.

"OooOOoO maybe they were actually in hell the whole time, cause earth is hell!!"

i get that it doesnt make sense that they went deeper and ended up getting out, but its not supposed to make sence, theyre in another dimension or whatever.

yeah that mirrored thing makes sense. hell is pretty much the opposite. thats why when they first go through the room they are in is exactly the opposite of the other one. so down would be up.

she was kind of annoying.

>"OooOOoO maybe they were actually in hell the whole time, cause earth is hell!!"
Where did you get that from?

Bruh, its the name of the fucking movie. You go deeper but its the same as going higher. Sheesh.

im honestly really shocked that this movie has a thread about it all these years later. when i saw it in theaters on release i remember coming out thinking it was just a load of wasted potential with every possible interesting idea watered down and simplified to the point of banality and the rest being generic filler thrown in by some studio exec that somehow confused trends with substance

>did they ever really get out of hell?

yeah this
total disappointment

Alright reading comprehension isnt my strenght apparently.

As above so below is a powerful occult magical incantation.

They made this movie to censor the internet by covering its true meaning with a movie.

Agreed with these guys. Even by horror genre standards it's pretty shit.

>As above so below is a powerful occult magical incantation.
nigga the fuck you talkin bout

its literally the name of the movie, just fuckin google it

I've seen the movie, i'm wondering how you came to the conclusion that its a fucking magical incantation.

im not the guy who said that, but the entire movie had to do with alchemy. go look up who wrote it

Google is your friend, you fucking inbred

It's actually a pretty decent movie if you know about the history of alchemy, medieval ideas of hell, and very early archaeology. I think it's main problem was that it was such a niche idea, things had to be watered down a bit, and the writers didn't do a good enough job; because of that, some things end up coming off as stupid, and the more obscure stuff still confuses most people.

Wasted potential is a pretty good description. Even though I really liked the movie, that was mostly because its subject matter was pretty much geared right at me. Speaking of which, are there any other movies that feature stories liked this? As in, an archaeologist or scientist of some kind getting over their head because of an obsession with spooky research?

Are you serious? The characters flat out explain it multiple times.

I was raised Catholic, so this movie was right up my alley and I really enjoy ed it.

Spooky Lara Croft tale

I think maybe the second exorcist movie has to do with egypt or something? I've never actually seen it though so

literally Descent with less girls

This was a movie made for stupid people.

Thing A happens. Everybody sees it. "We have to move on!" Thing B happens. Everybody sees it. "We have to move on." Thing C happens. "We have to move on."

This is the whole fucking movie. Every three minutes something supernatural and crazy happens, and it never gets mentioned again.

In the opening prologue, we see, clearly, the ghost of the protagonist's father, in a jump scare, then it cuts to credits and it is never mentioned again.

>this movie is dumb because things happen in succession
Wow user are you a professional film critic using Sup Forums as your anonymous outlet

As Above So Below is one of the 7 Hermetic principles of Alchemy. I was getting really into it just before this movie was released. which was a weird coincidence.

Really into these ideas myself. You recommend watching it? Cause I wasa very apprehensive when I first saw promotional material

The movie is dumb because it expect its audience to have an attention span of five years old.

You're proving my point.

But how can they be sure? And yes its mirrored but the other side of the mirror is corrupted with fucked up shit.

The whole movie was dumb. I think it would be a better ending then they just kind crawl out and walk away from each other.

Yes but when they entered the hell portion and descending was actually ascending everything was screwed up so how do we know the world isn't screwed up as well.

>You recommend watching it?
Yes. It has some flaws, but I still enjoyed it a lot. If you're interested enough in the premise, it's definitely worth checking out. You might want to do a little bit of reading about alchemy and Dante's Inferno, though.

Like I said im very interested in these topics and based on your recommendation Im gonna check it out. Thanks.

Yeah, I decided to watch it last week because it kept showing up in Sup Forums horror threads, but it was really not good.

>>But how can the be sure?
If you don't want to accept what is presented to you then you cant but nothing will convince you otherwise. People who say "how can you be sure of x in this movie always seem to inherently want there to be a more fantastical explanation most of which eventually boil down to no reason. Go watch rubber

>Yes but when they entered the hell portion and descending was actually ascending everything was screwed up so how do we know the world isn't screwed up as well.
I don't really understand what you're saying. The whole point of "as above, so below" is that the same processes and concepts are prevalent in all planes.
Been a while since i've seen it and it wasn't great but my interpretation is that they literally went through hell because the intents and beliefs guiding the expedition were impure. They suffer for it and fight for their lives until they learn the truth about the stone and belief/intent, and only then can they escape. The same concepts that brought them into the mess were the same ones that got them out. It has nothing to do with with spooky twists, maybe they were in hell the whole time/maybe the surface was really hell, etc

ps. the world is screwed up

I thought they were still in Hell. At the end, there are no stars in the sky, so it,s just our version of Paris, but beneath the earth.
