Are you a writer? If so, you might want to look a little bit more deeply into this question, because you're probably missing out on some great ideas.

You're right in that worldbuilding very seldom need to be that expansive. When you pose the question next to a marvel movie it looks silly, sure. But when you're talking about your expansive, subversive fantasy world, it's a pretty reasonable question to pose.
