It's true

Agreed. Something always rubbed me wrong about these rich jews making fun of people pouring their heart into their work, with no chance in hell. I didnt expect such backlash from a top critic because I knew reddit would flip their shit.

Based Brody

Ed wood > Tommy wiseau

>By keeping the focus on Tommy—and thereby on himself and his own giddy impersonation of Wiseau—Franco replicates the self-centeredness and the obliviousness of “The Room.”
That's meta as fuck, lad. James Franco is goddamn genius.

It was really funny though.

N-NANI?!?!

Pretentiousness defined

But Franco isn't making fun of The Room.

There is something incredibly smug about franco acting as tommy. Tommy, fall his many faults, is an incredibly sincere and genuine person, whereas Franco is cynical, narcissistic and very in touch with people's perception of him. It's him attempting to steal these qualities from tommy, "look, pretty boy James isn't afraid to be a freak, he doesn't care!" , When in truth it's another feather in his vanity-hat.

>a jew wants to steal someones thunder
typical.

>Franco replicates the self-centeredness and the obliviousness of “The Room.”
How is that a bad thing?

Literally came here to post this.

>superficial, anecdotal, insubstantial
Those are 3 terms pretty much describing the same trait. Dude seems like a shit writer tbqh.

It's a bad thing for the usual reasons unless the film manages the same "so bad it's good" quality of the original

>the usual reasons
So why again? I don't see how a vanity project about a vanity project is a problem.

Are you retarded? Pick up a dictionary lmao

insubstantial=/=unsubstantiated

He's not making fun of it at all. It's an Ed Wood kind of thing where it's laughing at things that happened during the production but celebrating the passion that went into it. Franco said he wouldn't have made the movie had the book not been so moving.

I can't understand why a movie about the room needs to exist. The Room is perfect as it is and it can't possibly be recreated because it was made so sincerely.

The trailer of them practicing the "Oh hi Mark" scene was garbage.

the more I think about it the less I think this movie was necessary. The book was great, certainly, but that's because it was written by Greg Sestero and you can feel his appreciation for Tommy.

Having Greg and Tommy acting the book out with a competent director might have been more interesting.

what a compensatorily glib and vacuous criticism

wait what, this movie is actually good?

now we need a movie about this movie
then about that movie, maybe that one as well?

I actually enjoyed it.
It wasn't as good as the book, they cut a ton of things(like the multiple directors, replacing Peter's actor, Greg actually finding minor success before making The Room and some of the parts of Tommy being a really great friend to Greg).

Bait article. Saged.

or proves he's as retarded and selfish as Wiseau, since it's Greg's story told from his point of view

The other vanity project is actually funny.

Was Burton's Ed Wood also dishonest cinema ?
What about "best worst movie"?

The Room is better.

Why? It doesn't have Seth Rogen.

it's fantastic

Is it true that the movie basically just focuses on Tommy and hardly on Greg?

Kind of, it focuses a lot on their relationship and the strain that working on the movie had on their friendship instead of showing the madness that working on a film set with Tommy was like.

Greg is still a main focus but it is split pretty evenly between the two of them. They had to cut a bunch of stuff to fit the narrative of the movie as they couldn't focus as much on the pre-Room life of the two of them trying to make it in Hollywood as much as the book did(it was almost half the book as I recall).

>Was Burton's Ed Wood also dishonest cinema ?

Ed Wood had a love for its protagonist while Tommy Wiseau is nothing but a joke throughout the whole movie. And he's nothing but a joke IRL, but that doesn't mean his story makes for a necessary movie.

Reminder that in reality the actress playing Lisa cries while filming the sex scene, which Tommy deliberately protracts for hours.

>Heebs mozleschnoz another comedy for the goyim

Franco has directed worse films than The Room.

Post three things he's said in the past that you consider pretentious and why

>“The Disaster Artist” remains superficial, anecdotal, insubstantial, and utterly disingenuous, a work of calculation whose rigid boundaries, exclusions, omissions, simplifications, and sentimentalizing are the secret to its success.

This is a terrible sentence. Do websites have editors any more? If so, they should either fire the one they have, or hire one immediately.

This. James Franco isn't a good actor and does a bad TW impersonation. Listening to him pretend to talk like TW in that one recording was cringe

>Try to make Ed Wood.
>Instead makes James Franco's Ed Wood, Starring James Franco.

If you liked The Room, watch Kung Fu Elliot (it's actually real and not a mockumentary like some people say).

Brody is the biggest hipster in existence.

The only actor that would be less fitting for Greg than Dave Franco would be Michael Cera

The Room proves that most women cheat. I don't know why any guy would even consider dating or marrying after watching it.

mildly this

>>Having Greg and Tommy acting the book out with a competent director might have been more interesting.
I really doubt that you could get a convincing performance out of Tommy, though.

I can totally see why they made this into a movie, and I can totally see why Greg sold the rights because he's a failed actor who looks like a potato filled with botox these days, but I'd never spend a cent going to watch this because the Franco boys are unfunny cunts.

Greg's parts in the book were pretty much terrible anyway, the only interesting parts were when he was interacting with Tommy, and their relationship together. He's purely a naive everyman with a story you could find at every truck stop and whorehouse within a thousand miles of Hollywood.

There are so many out there.

Try to make sense of every adjective he just vomited out in OPs post

Yeah, it wasn't hard to understand at all
Is English not your first language or are you just not very well-educated?

It's not ha d to understand, it's hard to read without cringing. A middle aged man wrote that shit. It sounds like a 9th grader trying to sound deep on their Facebook status.

Not really. There's a weight of understanding behind his words, all of which were carefully and precisely chosen. Brody is one of the better-educated, academic-minded critics working today, and he doesn't pitch his reviews at a low-brow audience

I liked the disaster artist but that was a bad scene to promote the movie on

>is an incredibly sincere and genuine person

Almost everything he has said in the past 10 years has been a lie. The ONLY sincere thing he has ever done is the room.

>Greg actually finding minor success before making The Room

Cutting this pretty much breaks the movie. It's like james missed the entire point.

How many times do I have to tell you morons? The Disaster Artist should have been about that unfunny fat fuck rogens career. He plays the same role in literally every film.

It was unintentional, I assure you.

That movie is 100% fake, dude. You must be pretty dumb.

>smokes joint
>"dude, what if we made a movie about weed?"
>makes movie about weed
>makes a lot of money
>repeat for 90 minutes

Yeah, great movie.

Franco treated him as if he bad brain damage. Which maybe true

Tommy is a compulsive liar though

Could you really make a film about that though? There's not enough content to keep people interested.

Hey guys, James Franco here. I sometimes visit Sup Forums to see what you guys think. I'll be happy to address any doubts you have. Ask away.

No-one should pay to watch this movie, let vanity projects die.

Hey guys, Seth Rogan here. Does anyone have questions for me??

I don't know how anyone could consider this a vanity project, it's clearly just Franco trying to ride on the coattails of a widely successful cult film. It's purely a fame grab, and it'll probably do reasonably well with the reddit crowd on an off-week from endless capeshit viewing parties.

There's something charming about Wieasus foolishness. He's like a charming oaf. Franco comes off as malicious.

Fagco BTFO

Hey guys, James again. I can confirm this really is Seth. You can ask him stuff too, about working on The Disaster Artist. Oh, and here's the proof, I know you guys can be sceptical

With Tommy, you can tell that he really just isn't very smart or something. He's exceedingly nice to Greg, and you can't really fault him for anything he does for the sake of "The Room" given it all comes out of his own pocket. It's a childish tale of wonder, corrupted by jews trying to get a piece of the internet culture pie a decade after its peak.

People pay to watch him play the same character over and over. Why not get meta with it?

>I don't know how anyone could consider this a vanity project
Because him and Seth Rogan were both complicit in pushing The Room as a meme by mentioning it over and over in interviews, often without prompting, then putting himself in the lead.

based

James: Tommy is quite smart but also strange in his own way. His vision is truly out of this world.

Seth: I agree with James. Tommy comes across as naive but is actually an intelligent guy.

btw guys, the mods are helping me and seth out here, we're not Sup Forums savvy yet

The Room is red pill as fuck.

>>Because him and Seth Rogan were both complicit in pushing The Room as a meme by mentioning it over and over in interviews
When was this, after TDA came out? It's not a vanity project, it's kikes realising they can make some easy money off a hot IP owned by a failed actor who would accept a can of beans for it. Obviously they're going to give themselves as many paydays as possible.

Not an argument.

James here: what is a meme?

Why do you smoke so much weed?

How many dicks a day do you suck?

>They made it into a meme.

Are you fucking joking?. The room has been known by normies For years.

All part of the comic con geek trash culture.

i'm pretty sure that's just because franco is a terrible actor and a moron, i don't think he's deliberately trying to make tommy seem like a cunt

Hehe why not hehehe?

I can't wait to see this movie. I liked the book a great deal and am very excited.

James: Haha, I was warned to expect questions like this here on Sup Forums! I'll be honest, I have had bisexual experiences in the past but I am now exclusively straight and monogamous. Ask something about my new movie The Disaster Aritst.

I took it the same way.
Is the same way Meryl streep approaches historical characters, smug and condescending.

The only way this would have worked is if They focused the movie on greg.

...

please tell me the scene from the book where tommy starts yelling at lisa to cover up her back acne and she breaks down crying is in the movie

What the fuck is this guy on about? Is he trying to be contrarian? I read lots of reviews of 'The Disaster Artist' and they all received Hi Marks.

Nobody respected his vision.

When will Franco be called out for being a pedo?

Great observation, you fucking inbred.

Franco is a fucking joke. His attempts at directing are pathetic.

"I don't like this movie because I hate James franco"

What a good reviewer.

Ed Wood made me feel genuinely terrible for ever having watched an Ed Wood movie for laughs. That seems honest to me.

Why would you misspell your own name?

James: Why did write the date on paper in real life with microsoft paint? Isn't that a little unnecessary, you could just use a pen or pencil.

I'm high as fuck bro hehe

wut
