Pete Campbell has Asperger's. Kartheiser gives an extremely realistic portrayal of the disease, instead of spoon-feeding it to you with absurd exaggerations like actors playing similar characters would, and you were too stupid to pick up on it. But now that you understand, you have a much better appreciating for the character. You're welcome.
...
Asperger is cased by the MMR vaccine which wasn't introduced until the 70es. Get your facts straight.
that really makes sense
irresistible chip-and-dip prives
HELLS BELLS, TRUDY!
hell's bells pleb Pete is the best main character
He was a rich kid who was given mixed signals by his WASPy parents, who tangibly spoiled him rotten, but constantly let him know that he wasn't their favorite, and treated him "less-than".
So, he turned into the sort of sociopath-lite you might expect, striving to prove himself as someone worthy, while never reaching that nebulous goal.
And he turned into a [moderately] better person under his own nose, during the process, using the flaws of his own parents to realize both what he did and did not wish to become.
LISTEN TO ME VERY CAREFULLY
Don Draper is who we want to be
Pete Campbell is who we are
>has an intact family with a loving wife and daughter
>not an unreliable headcase prone to disappearing for months at a time
I'd rather be Pete
Explain Turing, then.
Gay dudes don't get Asperger's, mate. If anything, male homosexuality is like anti-autism.
He was a semi-underachieving WASP'y kid, who only saw the surfacelevel of his idol and dreamed of becoming him, unable to see at first that it wasn't who he was, and that underneath the glossy facade was an incredibly troubled human being. Eventually he saw that the life he had dreamed of led nowhere, amd finally decided to try to be happy and content with his life and who he was.

What a waste of great digits
Mfw I am literally don't draper except without all the sex money and 12" dicc
I liked Pete's development the most
Don was the only one who regressed.
Everyone else did ok
Pete was my favorite character
I think you meant to say, what Don tries to project himself to be is what we want to be. Even Don fails at this.
that's funny, such a loser you're "Don't Draper"
I like it.
Thx user
I felt sorry for him when tried to flirt with the high school student and she didn't even pay attention to him.
He wanted to be the popular guy who sleeps with lots of women.
He kinda did he just didn't have the killer personality or looks.
He's literally our guy in the same way Patrick Bateman is
Baby brains
A real Knickerbocker
yes and cancer didnt exist before being discovered
>tfw I'm also like Pete in the "fake it till you make it" attitude
>tfw 21
>tfw just started to have friends and talking to girls
>still failing miserably
One day, I'll succeed. I need a Trudy in my life.
>sociopath
I don't think you know what that means. Campbell is one of the most emotional guys in the show.
Pete was the best character in mad men
>have a really handsome but manlet friend
>in class
>talking to a girl
>my friend comes
>this girl bites her lips just be seeing him
>reminded me of that episode where Pete gets cockblocked by that Handsome Chad
Feels bad man
>WELL IM PRESIDENT OF THE HOWDY DOODY CIRCUS ARMY
Did you know we were in the presence of a BONA FIDE RACIST?
Yeah, you're very right. I was using it as a pejorative and not clinically correct. As in, he had that distaste for those who weren't hustling like he was, and had a short temper for those who stood in the way of his ambition. Thanks for that.
>that haircut
Is he starring in an upcoming samurai epic?
he faked going bald for the show
>NOT GREAT, BOB!
(you)
>*throws chicken out the window*
"heh.... not great, Trudy"
this. the whole point of the show is that the don we see is an illusion
>tfw when cucked by a chad literally named Handsome
>tfw i have that hairline naturally
shave it and get /fit
HARRY???? He was actually a decent kid in the beginning, and turned into the biggest shit bag by the end.
Are you me?
>Campbell, advertising is a very small world. When you do something like malign the reputation of a girl from the steno pool on her first day, you make it smaller. Keep it up and even if you do get my job you’ll never run this place. You’ll die in that corner office a mid-level executive with a little bit of hair who women go home with out of pity. You wanna know why? ‘Cause no one will like you.

Who was in the wrong here?
You have Asperger’s.
*walks towards you*
Harry looked like he was approaching but he really only just noticed Pete. Pete noticed Harry and opened the door. Pete's fault but he's a sperg.
Pete. Harry was just looking that way and didn't come over until Pete opened the door
lmao this scene
I finished the show yesterday and if there's one thing that pissed me off is how they treated based Ginsberg. They hyped him up as the next big thing when he debuted in season 5 and then proceeded to do absolutely nothing with him in the following seasons before unceremoniously writing him off the show. They couldn't even be bothered to wait until the finale to make his lose his shit, they had to get rid of him midway through 7A like they couldn't for him to leave.
And before Sup Forums comes in talking about how he was one of (((them))) may I remind you that he was, literally, /ourguy/
I loved the little idiosyncratic interactions that the characters would have like this, it made the show so relatable and true to life.
What was the point of this scene?
The actor left the show to go do that shitty ABC show about working at a Wal-Mart. That's why they wrote him off when they did.
What was the point of the punished Ken storyline? He just loses his eye at the beginning of the episode and that's it. He goes the rest of the show with an eyepatch and nothing changes at all
it's a metaphor of how his private and professional life are increasingly intersecting.
notice how he is sitting in a GLASS telephon booth
crane is the unsuspecting third party that stumbles upon petes private life.
Best episode of Mad Men coming through
My biggest griefs was how they never brought Sal back. Not even a quick cameo where Don runs into him at some LA party or something. I usually don't care for the obligatory gay character in period piece but I liked Sal
Did you miss the whole part of him quitting Chevy because of the incident?
>Mr. Campbell, you and I are going to address that insult
fuck even in fistfights Brits are fucking crazily polite.
This was a good one,
This too, poor Cole. He doubted one too many.
>nothing changes at all
do you just fast forward the show?
it was used to drive pete's story-line with bob. this is also one of the things which drives him to work at DOW instead of becoming a full-time writer.
>Entire episode is about how Pete feels insecure of himself and wants to be a cool alpha man like the others but fails miserably at it
>Ends with fucking Lane of all people beating the shit out of him and embarrassing him in front of the other partners
Yes, it was kino
Peter got bloodied by Laine but can you imagine the carnage if it had been Anderson Dawes?
I mean, nothing changed regarding Ken. You'd think losing an eye would cause an impact on him but it turned out to be all about Pete and he remains the same.
Also, why did it make him go to Dow? His wife used losing the eye as an excuse to get him to leave marketing for his writing but he went to Dow because his father in law retired
>I know cooler heads should prevail but am I the only one who wants to see this?
Roger was the undisputed best character
once an optimistic writer, Ken became bitter towards advertising in the end. when he was fired, he was already about to quit, and then he got the call about his father-in-law. instead of pursuing his writing he took the position to fuck with SCDP, he even flat out says it in the episode they're trying to establish the west coast branch.
Too good for this world, too pure
Sal’s actor pissed off Weiner and Weiner is a petty butch like that
Why did they shoot this scene this way? Was Alison Brie not reachable, or was it meant to be more of an "she's his mom" type of off-screen thing?
The latter, somewhat. At that point Pete felt emasculated because his wife was controlling nearly every aspect of his life outside work.
Does anyone have the WEBM of pete punching ken and they get into a fight at the office while Don and Roger just leave nonchalantly without looking back?
Remember when people thought Pete was going to use that gun to shoot up the office
Should have been the ending desu
