>Game of Thrones actor Stephen Dillane is expressing some regrets about his character’s doomed tour of duty in Westeros.
>The stern Stannis Baratheon actor told the British newspaper The Times that he never really understood the show’s complex story line and seemed to have some real misgivings about his performance.
>“I’ve flicked [the show] on [since leaving] to see if I could figure out what was going on, but I couldn’t,” he reportedly said. “Liam Cunningham [who plays Ser Davos Seaworth, Stannis’ right-hand man] is so passionate about the show. He invests in it in a way I think is quite moving, but it wasn’t my experience. I was entirely dependent on Liam to tell me what the scenes were about — I didn’t know what I was doing until we’d finished filming and it was too late. The damage had been done. I thought no one would believe in me and I was rather disheartened by the end. I felt I’d built the castle on non-existent foundations.”
How does he think he was bad?
He still out acted most of the cast even with not knowing whats going on?
Propaganda. Stannis will return in the last season, now knowing what he's supposed to do. . S T H E M A N N I S A N N I S
Gabriel Perez
the world is upside down
Joseph Nelson
Probably got told his character was awesome from fanboys. And all he ends up doing is losing battles and burning his kid alive.
John Ortiz
At least real life Davos was there to help him out.

Jose Jenkins
he is legit real life stannis somehow
Jordan Campbell
>How does he think he was bad?
that's not exactly what he's saying. "Non-existent foundations" seem to imply he didn't really care about the material either, because he could have easily done some research. Seems more of an Alec Guinness in star wars situation to me. Great actor who dislikes the material that's been given to him, but professional enough to do the job correctly.
Adam Davis
He did his duty. That's all anyone could ask of him.
Cameron Smith
> I was entirely dependent on Liam to tell me what the scenes were about
Just like Stannis did. Stephen is the best method actor of our time
Jose Foster
Its like poetry
Lucas Mitchell
>'I didn't know what I was doing'
Don't worry m8 neither do the showrunners.
Tyler Williams
Based Liam
Ryder Cooper
Dabid is the one who had no understanding of Stannis. From the very first behind the scene intro for Stannis they said his character was religious and believed he was the chosen one. It's like they didn't even bother reading the books. Fuck both of those faggots who ruining him and giving his battle to faggot Jon snow.

>I was entirely dependent on Liam to tell me what the scenes were about Isn't this D&D's job?
Hunter Gomez
That's because they took a noble character and turned him into Hitler because female writers
When women are given power over men they will always abuse that power because they know they are inferior
John Hernandez
Wrong board m8
Jose Kelly
>It's like they didn't even bother reading the books
Why bother if their never going to be finished. Blame the fat sack author for not giving a shit about his own work
Ethan Lee
This is a joke right? Everything he is expressing is EXACTLY how is character is supposed to feel. Misgivings, doubt, confusion, despair, trusting others to know better, finding out his efforts were in vain. I'm still not convinced Stephen Dillane isn't being a cheeky cunt.
Wyatt Campbell
>female writers ?
Brandon Collins
still a thousand times better performance than all the shit actors on GoT that show up for every meme convention and are "totally so into the show omg"
Charles Peterson
He's actually right women have been nurtured to behave that way they're not inferior and men aren't perfect but user speaks true
Jackson Sullivan
You're wrong though. Book Stannis always come off hard and stern. As if his will is unbendable.
Matthew Turner
fuck off he's still right. women writers are 8/10 times terrible ideas
Camden Miller
Because Show Stannis was poorly written.

Oh trust me I hate that fat bastard too. But Stannis arc is perfectly put out there in the books and pretty much concludes in the last book that came out.
Aaron Flores
And then he gets killed by the big dyke and everyone jumps up and cheers
Caleb Harris
what women writers on GoT?
Ian Sanders
>liam was passionate about what both actors worked for and stephen depended on his support their relationship off screen was the same as on screen. probably why it worked despite stephen not being into the role of the mannis
Angel Diaz
I've never watched GOT. Doesn't seem like I'm missing much.

Was it autism?

Exactly how Stannis would've done it, brava, best method acting I've seen in a long while.
Jonathan Hall
D&D have a peepee
Jackson Baker
Would love to know how that casting decision took place. >This show seems horrible. I don't get it. The two of you are talentless hacks and this whole thing seems to be less meant to entertain and more a cover operation to harvest and rape underage actresses. >You're hired.

Everything past season 4 has been a clusterfuck of awful writing. I don't even know why I still care about this show honestly.

>Liam, this script is really bad, how do you know what to do and how to act? >Oh, Stephen I read the books, so I get the gist. >Well, you think you can tell me what this scene is for? What does it mean with "Meen stenis den rides big bobed girl on world teble?" >Oh well you have kings blood, so you need to sleep with Melisandre to make a shadow killer baby >oh...thanks...
Ryder Richardson
>I felt I’d built the castle on non-existent foundations.
that's about the perfect description for 90% of characters in GoT
Josiah Roberts
Well... He did it like Stannis.
Xavier Foster
Liam telling him to burn his daughter must of bene something
Christian Harris
Kill yourself. You've probably contemplated it many times in your dad's basement where you spend most of your time.
>Why is she being burnt? Isn't she supposed to be my daughter? And aren't I like a king or something? >Err, you see... she has your blood so burning her will make you win the war. >But isn't my character supposed to be honourable? And doesn't the script say I die at the end of the season? >Well... like... oh look at the time. I'm needed in the north
Lucas Cruz
no, it'd actually be the directors job
Jose Ramirez
>female writers
You're stupid as fuck, DnD LOATHE the mannis. They completely crippled him the first episode. They don't even remember their writing of his scenes.
Thats how incompetent they are.
Tyler Nelson
Roastie detected
Jeremiah Green
Just imagine him being a fan of the books and was expecting things to turn out for Stannis like in ADWD, only for character assassination to ensue and gets beheaded by YAS QUEEN SLAY instead
Jaxson Taylor
They didn't even give the character the respect of an on-camera death.
Ayden Brown
>"meen stenis.. My sides
Nicholas Parker
He actually didnt give a shit about to books either
Lucas Roberts

Adam Mitchell
He didn't want to bring up the fact it was written in crayon.

who cares? the show is shit, the books are the only thing that matters
David Cooper
Is this news? I always assumed 99% of actors in movies and shows have no idea what they're doing. Thats why a director exists, to guide these dumb assholes.
Brayden Russell
Why are people claiming hes actually like Stannis?
Isaiah Rodriguez
>implying the books aren't shit too
almost half of every chapter is about clothes and food, that's fucking lazy writing
Jordan Lee
The show will have an actual ending. The books won't.
Carson Reyes

Brandon Garcia
>Candice this low kys
Joshua Hughes
>why does the talented person with pedigree dislike his own performance despite being widely hailed as the best actor on the show? because he’s talented YOU FUCKING PLEB. Smart and talented people compete with themselves and other top tier talents everything else is nonexistent. He’s hard on himself unlike Kit and Emilia who are fucking hacks who think they’re doing a great job. You can always tell when someone is talented because their best stuff disappoints them sincerely and they don’t like being complimented. Narcissism is rare among the elite and when it does appear its usually a product of faggot peon, pleb peasant scum lavishing too much praise on them. Nietzche was right most of the population should be illiterate and also muzzled so they can’t speak
Angel Collins
aemon and viserys were fantastic though you cunt
Blake Foster
Stannis' ending hasn't happened in the books so they faked one, that doesn't excuse them ignoring the background that is very dearly established in the 4 books where Stannis appears. Stannis is an atheist who only pays lip service to R'Hollor because Melisandre's magic gets results. The book makes it clear that Shireen is the only person Stannis loves and he explicitly says he means for her to claim his right to the throne if he dies.
Gabriel Walker
He'll probably still burn Shireen in the books, just for wildly different reasons that would put his actions in wildly different perspective. Shireen has "doomed character" written all over her, and if Stannis wasn't gonna burn her eventually, then the subplot with Edric Storm was pointless.
Brayden Long
This
Oliver Smith
He wont burn Shireen, Mel will do it at the wall to revive jon snow. “Dragons put of stone”
He’ll probably be sieging Winterfell for the entirey of TWOW. Hell return to the wall and see his child is dead, and snap.
Carson Watson
Again, Edric Storm. What's the point of showing that Stannis is willing to sacrifice a child, if he's not gonna do it eventually?
Charles Nelson
Apparently the specialists who made this list think they did their job well and are well-placed
Luis Reyes
Not everything needs to be a chekovs gun.
That scene could just show how far he is willing to go to get tonthe throne. It dorsnt even make sense
sacrificing some random bastard =/= sacrificing your own child
Benjamin Evans
This is beautiful. He's real life Stannis. Truly /ourman/
Don't worry, the writers didn't know what they were doing either
Adam Gutierrez
Because he realized how shit the show is and how pointless his character is. It's not just the show writers, the books are pretty shit and pointless. Stannis' character is nothing but fluff in and out of the books.
Nathan Reyes
> When you're such a good actor you can just wing your scenes and go with your gut and still end up better than 95% of the other cast and their scenes That just makes me like him more but the cunt should have read the book.
Gabriel Richardson
Or at least the damn wiki
Christian Powell
He's not with her in the books. And I doubt he will ever see her again. Either he wins the battle of winterfell and has no need to burn her or he loses which means Ramsay kills him.
