The Road
A Boy and His Dog
You are correct.
Utter madness.
>implying an underage would ever watch a 1981 Mel Gibson movie
These. The Road was horrifying because of how accurate it is
The road is legit scary. I felt uneasy after watching viggo put the gun to his kids head for the 20th time.
Book of Eli. I know a lot of people dislike it but I appreciate the character interactions and motivations. The scene with Eli bartering with the shop owner felt like an exchange that would really happen.
The human cattle locked in the basement is just too fucked up.
my nigga
Just thinking of the guy saying "THEY'RE GONNA TAKE US TO THE SMOKEHOUSE!" makes me feel a bit queasy.
>Book of Eli.
DUDE THE BIBLE IS IMPORTANT LMAO
The Day After is great. It’s a television movie that was made in the 80s to raise awareness about the destruction of nuclear weapons. Basically it’s made to be as realistic as possible and it does a great job at that.
The Road
...
Children of Men.
not post-apocalyptic, but very accurate dystopian film
>raise awareness about the destruction of nuclear weapons
Tired of this meme. No amount of nuclear weapon will make earth even nearly post-apocalyptic. The blast range isn't that great, and the radioactive ejection isn't that persistent. Even if you somehow managed to bomb all of the cities on earth, they would be habitable pretty soon.
What the fuck are you saying.
GIZ IT
>The Road
Probably this, that movie is horribly depressing
>ctrl+f
>no Zardoz
Plebs.
It's absolutely post-apocalyptic. There's just barely a semblance of social structure, but at its core it's about the human race slowly and painfully dying off, the wartorn slum Earth has become, and how people react to it.
I know that fedora of yours is nice and cozy but you're braindead if you actually think religion, especially in times of hardship, can be influential as fuck.
>A Boy and His Dog
/thread
But the Book of Eli doesn't show us religion, it shows us a bunch of people who want their hands on a copy of the Bible because in some weird series of events the most well-spread out piece of literature in the history of the world has disappeared from everywhere. In circumstances like that people wouldn't bother with a copy of the Bible, they'd make their own religion up as they went along. That and Eli being fucking Zatoichi kind of detracted from the quality of the movie.
Dude... You are actually retarded :/
I don’t know. Felt like a cool 12 year old movie to me.
Nice arguments
I can't really argument because I find hard to believe that you are saying that nuclear fallout disperses super easily. Or that the blast ranges are weak.
The tsar bomba had a blast radius of 30 km, that was a single nuke and modern ones are stronger than that.
They come at night
The Pianist
There are no bombs today that are more powerful than tzar bomba's 50 megatons.
I guess it hasn't been built but they said they could've made the tsar bomba 100 megatons and chose not to.
The Divide
Left Behind
>30km
Now, tell me the area of any big city.
Manhattan has 59km2.
A radius means it's killing everything to 30km in all directions, radiating from the center. That's just the blast, the shockwave flattened out the tree line up to 50km.
That's one bomb.
The US has nearly 7 thousand nukes.
What people don't get is that you don't need fallout to render anything physically uninhabitable. Simply destroying most industrial capability is enough to kill millions of people through dehydration, starvation and exposure. Just think about what would happen to any major population center if all running water and electricity was turned off for months and all means of mass transportation disabled.
The Road.
You don't want to go there.
>A Boy and His Dog
Beat me to it.
>dude, civilization is just a facade
>we'd all be killing and raping each other if we could
>The Road is realistic bro
Another thing people seem to be forgetting about nuclear detonations is the environmental effect it has, which, if enough nukes went off, could cause a nuclear winter
That twist was fucking sick dude wtf are you talking about
>believing it wouldn't be like that
How did they possibly lose EVERY. SINGLE. COPY. of the bible? Nobody had one tucked away? What a shit film that was. Also fuckin product placement
McCarhy fags are always the worse
This. Fucking ruined the whole movie for me. I still grit my teeth thinking about how stupid it is
The way the movie made it out to be, it seemed less like the authorities took away the bibles as much as such a massive, cataclismic event happened involving them that people willingly destroyed them. Sorta like the disco burnings in the 80's. No, it's not entirely realistic, but it serves the story well enough. And it's not implied that Eli has the only one either, as much as they're super rare. Bibles are the Shinys of books.
Anarchy isn't peaceful
It is a facade when it has too much barbarians in it and society is no longer homogeneous, that's what happened to Rome, and is happening right now in Europe again. Even in the USA, just look how some kind of people act after a hurricane...
Just read the book of pic related, any one know if the 59 movie version is worthwhile? As a depiction of people waiting for the inevitable apocalypse I think it's a little unrealistic. Seems like the worst thing people do is drink a lot - I'd rather suspect more raping and murder. Still a very good book
The Rover.
Anything more powerfull than Tsar Bomb would have blasted away the airplane and the crew, thats why the russian underpowered it.
>The US has nearly 7 thousand nukes.
And the largest warhead we have is 350 kilotons. Which is 0.35 of the power of Tsar Bomba.
Even at the height of Cold War WE NEED THE BIGGEST SHIT, deployed nuclear weapons never exceeded 1.1 megatons.
So no, modern nuclear weapons are not "more powerful". They're just more accurate and on a whole cleaner.
Why do we care bout how many thousand nukes we have and how many hundreds of kilotons it can detonate when just a good dozen going off near the same time would be a world ending event anyways?
tfw have this exact setup in my rimworld colony
It was pulled off so well too. I was worried they were gonna do the baby being grilled on a spitroast from the book cause it's too ridiculously edgy
>They walked into the little clearing, the boy clutching his hand. They'd [the three men and the pregnant woman] taken everything with them except whatever black thing was skewered over the coals. He was standing there checking the perimeter when the boy turned and buried his face against him. He looked quickly to see what had happened. What is it? he said. What is it? The boy shook his head. Oh Papa, he said. He turned and looked again. What the boy had seen was a charred human infant headless and gutted and blackening on the spit. He bent and picked the boy up and started for the road with him, holding him close. I'm sorry, he whispered. I'm sorry
Except models since 2006, even accounting for a strategic exchange between superpowers, have shown that to be a myth and the "cooling" would last a year
>when just a good dozen going off near the same time would be a world ending event anyways?
Cause it wouldn't be
I wish they included the moment where they look at a bunch of warlords caravan in the distance
I wouldve looked a bit goofy with the boy sex slaves but it wouldve been really cool
