What's Sup Forums's opinion on the new Samurai Jack season so far?

It's 10/10 Kino and the hatebase and trolling about Ashi ruining it is fucking annoying.

The reboot is good, I wonder what happens in the next episode

The reboot is cool

Will Jack have sex

Is good.

I like it alot!

It's kind of mediocre, the type of schlock you would expect from some ruskie-"american", but all-in-all, I don't mind having it play in the background while I do some work. 5/10

(you)

It's going to be ruined with a romance subplot. Fuck Ashi, and everyone who likes her.

Its fucking amazing

Same as the original show: looks ugly, don't care, reason I stopped watching tv.

Same shit as usual

>le epic asian man slices up robots with his sword

Rinse
Lather
Repeat
See you next week

(You)

Someone doesn't like hearing the truth.

it's literally a meme season taylor made for reddit

This is what I fear.
I liked Samurai Jack because it reminded me strongly of Berserk - a lone warrior wandering through strange lands and being attacked constantly by strange creatures, trying to kill his mortal enemy. But recently Berserk has been less about that and more about escorting Guts' love interest around with a band of RPG party members.
I just hope Aku dies at the end, because I'm not sure Griffith will at this point.

...

It has been amazing and far above my expectations thus far.

I don't measure my love/hate for something based on the number of idiots spamming a topic here.

Reminder that contrarians are boring jerks who hate fun
But for the sake of fairness, I'll raise (you) all a question
What Sup Forumsshow would (you) consider to be good?

Consider the following: if Jack goes back in time and stops Aku, Ashi will have never existed. There, meaningful drama.

Bingewatched the whole series to refresh my memory. It's good, I didn't much care for the more episodic nature of the first four seasons. Episodes that made it feel like it was leading up to something like Jack and the traveling creatures were my favorites.
I trust mr tar tar.

If Jack went back in time to stop Aku in any of the countless times he could have while people were willing to sacrifice themselves for him to do it, then they would never have sacrificed themselves in the first place.

there hasnt been a good cartoon released in the last 10 years that can be considered good, reddit has seen to that

(You)

Oh, I don't consider this show bad- I just don't like it. Eventually I realized I was watching tv just because, instead of doing anything else is get enjoyment out of more. So I just stopped watching tv.

(you)

Kicks butt.
Sucks we gotta wait an extra week, but I need my Mulan Szechuan Dipping Sauce! That's MY One-Armed Man, OP! That's MY portal to the past!

Is it more or less annoying than the April Fool's hateposting?

It makes me remember how much I missed Tartakovsky's directing.

The music, the scenes, its all very well done and the tense drama scenes were heavy with the feels.

Not looking forward to the end only because I really dont want quality such as this to end.

More so, the april fools shitposting is just more fresh

The final season has been everything that the show has always wanted to be but was held back from doing so by it's age restriction.
Even though Samurai Jack has always been able to be great even with these restrictions, the show is now capable of using it's new freedom to the fullest. in the process making Jack's personal problems and his new challenges all the more intense.
I had fears that the new season would be too caught up on it's own newfound freedom and that it would be too filled with gore or swearing and whatnot since that's what happened with Logan, and that it would feel like an "edgy reboot".
But fortunately that's not the case.

I just dislike that the show has attracted more people to hate it and that there was this brief overlap between the SJ and the Rick and Morty fanbases that just caused petty drama.
This season is not going to last long so we should enjoy it while we can that there's finally something worth talking about on Sup Forums

for how many years has jack been on the boat again? 8? 13?

Honestly I think Berserk had the right idea to eventually shift it's tone a little bit and try to focus more on Guts getting back in touch with Casca and focusing on his human side. However, the execution of this idea was absolutely terrible because Miura is a lazy moe-obsessed hack, and it eventually killed most of what made Berserk good in the first place.

Samurai Jack had plenty of episodes that didn't focus on Jack. And it's kind of necessary for Jack to show he does have his kindness left in him (which is going to come through in Ashi's redemption). It's been 50 years, the dude deserves some love (especially since it seems clear he will be dead by the end of the show).
I don't like Ashi either and I think Tara Strong was a pretty bad decision but I trust Tarkovsky to deliver, and as a whole, ever since I started watching Samurai Jack I've just been letting the show take me in it's ride and it hasn't dissapointed.

It is sublime. Unironically so, kino.

>What's Sup Forums's opinion on the new Samurai Jack season so far?

I'm honestly surprised how EASILY they slipped back into Jack after a 13-year hiatus. Lamarr is as on point as if he didn't missed a day, and if anything Tartakovsky has stepped up the action. The fights so far have all been a genuine joy to watch, and all the setting' little quirks, like the mish-mash of modern and ancient settings or the bizarre aliens and ridiculous robots remain on display.

I'm also fine with the episodes being narratively linked - it feels like they flow naturally, and each is self-contained enough to be satisfying. The whole thing with Ashi promises to raise some rather interesting moral questions if the writers actually grapple with them.

Jesus christ the anticipation for episode 4 is fucking killing me.

...

50 years of cum.

Please have sex

But now he has to improvise his arsenal to make up for the loss of his sword

Still need to see 3rd episode but first two were great.

It isn't held back at Y7 and is allowed things like blood or more adult themes,
But it isn't just going all out with the adult themes, merely what the story needs.

Well he's a primitive asian trained only in the ways of skill and survival, you can't expect him to understand time travel.

So, same shit for four seasons and they finally change it in the last one? Yawn.

> “We drew a dog’s butt, and it came back [with a note]: ‘There are no dog anuses on Adult Swim.’ That’s the line.”

Guess we know what happened to all the emoji lewds.

Tomorrow, nigga

>same shit for four seasons
Clearly someone who's never watched the show

As a person who never got deep into the original series, it's still very enjoyable as long as you understand the context the season takes place in.

See, I'm seeing conflicting reports. TV guide sites report it being on Wednesday and Thursday, but Adult Swim's schedule says Saturday - and it HAS been updated to reflect the "joke."

50 years have passed but Berserk does not end. Sales figures have lost their effect on the manga, yet the filler continues.

Miura's laziness chokes the past, present and future chapters. All hope for a denoument is lost.

Got to give up. Give up Berserk. Fuck Miura.

Its fun. I am very entertained.

I don't get where the idea that it's going to be on any earlier than Saturday is coming

And even if it is, it just means they're going to do a rerun on Saturday

Dat animation error.
When the scene shows both of them jack has the end of the chain in his hand.
Then when it cuts to him it's stuck in his arm
1/10 shit animation team.

Superb

I hope they'll be able to wrap up the story with a great ending in the last 6 episodes left without having to make it super rushed

2>1>3 imo so far

GOOD CATCH

my opinion of the show is totally changed

I'm glad R&M bumped it, Jack should have stayed on hiatus.

Don't forget the one in episode 2, when Jack was hiding/running from the daughters of Aku. His shoes had been knocked when they ambushed him, but when he made a run for the ruins, his shoes were back, then afterwards they were gone again

That said, I'm enjoying the new season a lot and never thought R&M was very good at all

>It's going to be ruined with a romance subplot. Fuck Ashi, and everyone who likes her.

Fucking great thus far. Never watched the earlier seasons, but this is absolute kino.

I hope Ashi dies a slow and agonizing death.

KeK

It's great. Had a good bit with Tom Kenny, the fights with the assassins have been great too. Looking forward to more.

Found the SU fan.

So far its been pretty good.

However it really depends on the next 7 episodes also being good too. Unlike season 1-4 they are all linked via story, so one slip up could easily sour the whole arc.

AntiSUfags are Barneyfag level now.

It's not very good. I'm seeing the same signs of slip-up as I did with the first episodes of LOK desu.
Of course, I still powered through that garbage (unlike many shitposters here), so...

...

I gave the first two episodes a try, but the rabid fanbase on here turned me off of it. I don't want to be associated with something like that.

I know that feeling

>not realizing it's mostly shitposting, baiting, trolling and false-flagging
>not realizing 99% of said posters are having fun with it, no hard feelings there

desu I was making like half the poss myself, posting from both sides simultaneously

I'm not even remotely kidding

It's ok I was too

True kino. Ashi's VA was a bit shit though.

But why

because it's fun as fuck?
almost literally actually

this is how the original Samurai Jack story should of being told.
youtube.com/watch?v=T6a1oiT6Uf8

The post above yours literally proves his point.

>not knowing how anonymous message boards work
>thinking the vocal minority is the majority

Why are you even here? You know is you return to reddit or tumblr you can see who's posting fag

How much Samurai Jack do I need to watch before watching this season?

all of it tbqfh senpai

First episode was weird with the hackneyed scenes of Jack going insane, but the show found its footing very quickly in the following episodes.

I love it so far.

You only need to see jack and the farting dragon and chicken jack to realize this childish crap isn't worth your time.

>not having watched it all by now

>tfw not sure if referring to original or revival
>mfw don't care because both are awesome

I was talking about the S5 premiere. The scenes with Jack's parents felt phoned in and sudden, there was no appropriate build up to them. But the robot guy at the end was really cool.

Genndy treads a thin line between style and substance most of the time, but because he is less contained by budget and censorship the new season has been mostly balanced.

I was too old for Samurai Jack when it started airing, but it's a nice take on the eastern warrior.

I especially like how Jack feels way more like an actual human than most characters in similar settings. Kind of like early Guts, come to think of it.

It's great!

Im glad to hear that!

>not mentioning doggirls

Says so when defending SU, the most PC and "safe" cartoon on the world airing right now.

>that part where Jack starts apologizing to the children mid battle
I thought the first two hallucinations were good although a bit corny. Jack's dad in the fire reminded me of SPONGEBOB WHY DIDN'T YOU FINISH YOUR ESSAY).
But that third one just broke my heart.

One of the things that really got me in this scene was Scaramouche's reaction. He is not finding it amusing, nor is he taunting Jack. You'd think he would crack a joke but he just kind of stops fighting.

This
I can't fathom why samurai jack fans parade jack around as some kind of mature, deep masterpiece. Even as a kid I knew the show was shallow.
Don't get me wrong I liked the show in the same way I liked dexters lab, it was a fun time waster for a kid. I soon as I discovered anime it became apparent how shallow jack was. If you compare it to any serious anime you'll know what I mean. The fight scenes were ruined by the stiff animation and any serious moments were ruined by cheap stock sounds and obnoxious voice acting.
The revival has taken on a more serious tone, but still suffers from the same problems. The animation is cheap and riddled with errors, the sound effects are stock and the writing is subpar. Compare Jack to berserk and you'll see what I mean.
How anyone could be sad about episode 4 being delayed is beyond me, I don't understand how anyone could put this show on a pedestal. I guess that speaks more about the dry spell of good cartoons in the west than it does them though.

underrated post

>Anime
>Good

Well he just saw the man that all workers of aku fear most. And that man just fucking lost it in the middle of battle.

It's like you get in a fist fight and suddenly the guy you're fighting just collapse and start crying. Or ripping off his clothes and REEEEing. Or anything you don't really expect out of a fistfight.

I mean, it's still a fight, but what do you even do beyond fighting in that situation

Compare Jack to Beserk

I assume you haven't seen the most recent Beserk anime

>reboot
