Are there any better online communities to talk about comics other than co? Or literally just any other semi possible ones?

No, they're all awful, disgusting places. Sup Forums is actually the most normie, casual place to talk about comics and cartoons.

There's ToonZone, TVTropes, Wikia, various reddit subs, but they are all far worse than Sup Forums, both in terms of quality of discussion and quantity.

Reddit can be good in small doses. TvTropes is bad with "If you disagree with me, I'll sperg out and the mods will punish YOU"

I must congratulate you on your excellent taste

The problem with reddit, even if you can stand it (and I usually can't) is that there simply is not much of a Sup Forums-related community to speak of. And, as is typical with reddit, what is there is extremely derivative of other communities.
Does tumblr talk about comics much? I wouldn't know because I'm a cartoonfag

Yes reddit can be fine but there's almost no discussion going on. TVTropes has shit moderation and, as you say, it's difficult to say anything that people disagree with. ToonZone and other "classic"-style forums are filled with zero-discussion threads and if you try to make a new thread people will complain that there's already a thread, doesn't matter if it's 300 pages long and consists of people replying "is this thread still alive?" Chatrooms can't hold a discussion because they're too immediate.

Sup Forums lives in the happy middle where discussion can take place but old threads disappear, AND the moderation is minimal so people can disagree with each other, often violently, without getting banned.

Sup Forums might have a slim chance of being decent if we had any standards whatsoever. But instead we have idiots clinging on to the archaic "Sup Forums is love" nonsense, and the result is that we are seen as weak, and prime shitposting ground. And the worst part is that damn near everyone is in denial about it.

>we have idiots clinging on to the archaic "Sup Forums is love" nonsense
Did you just wake up from a coma?

>Does tumblr talk about comics much? I wouldn't know because I'm a cartoonfag
It's mostly shipping stuff and Batman. Or rather, various villains and Robins and shipping stuff. There's a small group of GL people too but there's not much proper talk there.

Tumblr isn't a very good website for proper discussions in general

I'll never understand how a show with a THICC Supergirl like that didn't get picked up.
It was a good Teen Titans Go, well at least had the same basic idea behind it.

The problem with tumblr is that it's too fragmented to allow for long or many-sided discussions.

Reddit is more focused, but its format especially encourages hiveminds and circlejerks (not that all fansites don't have this, but reddit has it the worst)

Sup Forums as said, is really the best option we have.

As Lauren Faust says, the network told her they already had a "girl show" (Steven Universe) so they passed.

NeoGAF?

You gotta understand that no mature, reasonable person would actually spend their time online discussing cartoons for children.

somehow no

>not noticing the constant rec-fagging
Are you blind or just stupid?

Reddit also has a huge population of batfags who aren't ready to discuss anything that isn't about Batman, and last time I visited the Marvel sub it was just a mess of random articles and shit.

Damn it we could've had both.
All they had to do was put it on along TTG.

Oh it's (you).

Didn't tv tropes ban all hentai articles?

The thing that makes me keep coming back here is that you don't have cult of personality bullshit and you can say whatever you want, no matter how dumb it is.

It gets worse every day but still I can't stand all the fakeness that goes on at reddit. And at least here I can call someone a retard if they're being a retard.

Oh, and also I can storytime to my heart's content.

I legitimately gave reddit a chance, I really did. 98% of their DC board is moviefag posting and the other 2% was just me and two other guys giving people recs and explaining continuity to them.

But you know what, there really isn't anywhere to talk about anything anymore because of how ubiquitous the internet is now. Your only hope is to somehow find a small group of people you don't hate to have discussions with such as the JSA threads here

Problem with tumblr is that, despite the fact there are actually some people who aren't fucking mouthbreathing idiots there, there is no actual discussion, it's all just masturbation reposting and liking things.

I have one but all I post are comic covers and links to my and others' storytimes here.

And we don't even have that anymore because fags like you and the trolls that copy you have to ruin every one. You're not allowed to discuss things you enjoy anymore.

Even storytimes have a 1 in 3 chance of getting trolled into oblivion.

i know the people at tumblr don't give a shit but i wish someone would figure out how to make tumblr have a good discussion thing-y

Some people give a shit but it's not a large enough group that Tumblr gives a shit about it

>giving recs and explaining continuity
You're part of the problem. We need a barrier to entry, and you and every other retard here refuses to help establish one.

If casuals had any real interest in comics, they would do some basic fucking research. But they don't, and you keep fucking spoonfeeding them, which manipulates their impressionable retard minds into not forming their own opinions and not developing a sense of exploration.

But of course whenever I explain that, I'm the bad guy because Sup Forums apparently wants to be a fucking hugbox where nobody has actually read any fucking comics. Pardon me if I'm a little tired of seeing "Describe her personality" threads, and for not a damn person knowing what I'm fucking talking about whenever I want to discuss the Power Company or the Legion of Super-Heroes. No, it's apparently my fucking responsibility to guide these morons around like a fucking mentor, even though comic books are, despite that cancerous meme, the easiest fucking thing to get into in the world, because all it takes is to pick up an issue and start reading, you lazy pieces of brain-dead garbage. FUCK YOU, READ A BOOK.

Twitter especially since you can directly contact the creators

No, you're the bad guy because you're an angry spaz. Your opinions and the fact you behave like a human fart are independent variables.

>girl show

More like a tranny show lmao

meant to imply it was that the people who own/operate tumblr don't care to work on it

I understand your position, which is why I stopped going there and don't do it much here unless it's recs for someone who clearly has read a lot already.

Personally, I wouldn't have a problem with it if there were any actual discussion threads to counterbalance it. But like you say, it's just braindead trash of people regurgitating information they learned second hand, and having the same tired misinformed arguments about "why Wonder Woman has no good stories" and "why doesn't Batman kill the Joker".

At any given time I have at least 20 hidden threads.

So yes, while I usually only acknowledge you as a troll, this time I took the time to really consider your argument.

I kinda doubt anyone would be willing to actually listen to me if I spoke in a calm, poetic manner. This is Sup Forums, often times the only way anyone notices your post is if you word it aggressively.

Besides, it really shouldn't fucking matter, because we still need some barrier to entry into this community. But it seems a simple filter of "You clearly know nothing about comics. Get out." is WAAAAAAY too much to ask, because this board is full of delusional retards who cannot get it into their thick skulls that letting everyone else step on you is a bad thing.

They don't give a shit about anything though

>Personally, I wouldn't have a problem with it if there were any actual discussion threads to counterbalance it.
Or if the rec threads themselves had any substantial discussion in them. There's an idea. But no, it's invariably a fucking drive by style "Gimme some names and fuck off.". It's goddamn sickening.

Frankly, part of it seems to be that nobody WANTS to talk about stuff they like, cause this Sup Forums, and everyone is obligated to be negative about everything.

Way I see it, barrier to entry just motivates people to bullshit more instead of discouraging them from sticking around.

>part of it seems to be that nobody WANTS to talk about stuff they like
What I feel is happening is that the internet used to mostly be used by people who wanted to discuss interests (nerds), we got used to that. However, now that it has become mainstream, it is filled with people who only care about the "socialization" aspect of the net. These people like things on a very superficial level and instead use the subject as means to have a place to belong to or hang out at. This in turn makes people who actually want to talk about the subject itself to give up and have nowhere to go to.

>We need a barrier to entry
There is no barrier. Sup Forums is notoriously against "spoonfeeding" but you have to be retarded to think it takes effort to "enter" into anime or Sup Forums. Did you watch an anime? Congratulations, you can talk about it, there is no barrier.

Treating it as if it were some kind of academic research center is idiotic. At best it's like the humanities, and the humanities aren't rocket science... and even papers published in academic journals about entertainment don't have any kind of barrier of entry when it comes to understanding them. It's just art and entertainment. You don't know what a "christ figure" is? Two seconds of research will tell you. It's not like math, engineering and natural sciences where stuff is hard to grasp, and if you don't understand a term you might have to spend a month studying it.

So what happens when, after being denied recommendations for comics, newcomers just adopt and repeat inane shitposting memes in order to fit in?

>And at least here I can call someone a retard if they're being a retard.

This. When someone says something blatantly stupid on reddit you're an asshole for calling them out on it. On Sup Forums you're expected to either lurk the threads or be somewhat knowledgeable on the subject at hand. If you don't know just say you don't know. Being a jackass just gets you yelled at. But being a jackass on reddit is applauded by all the 12 year olds. This can lead to the most annoying bullshit where everyone on reddit just assumes everyone else is an idiot and goes to extreme lengths explaining something everyone already knows because there is just too much normie casual overlap on specialist hobby boards.

I played TF2 on a reddit server once and I wanted to kill myself with how "smart" everyone thought they were, assuming that anyone who died was a brand new player not knowing how videogames worked.

>Die to sniper who rounded the corner I wasn't looking and instantly headshot me.
"You have to avoid the red dot and or pop your uber to avoid getting killed"
"I have 500 hours on this game I know how it works."
"I'm only trying to be helpful man"
fuck off

Go back to Sup Forums

They were going to do that regardless if they're so predisposed. Once again, ic they had any real interest in comics, they would look it up themselves, not go to Sup Forums of all places to harass people for titles and issue numbers.

Idiot, that is the barrier to entry. Do you read comics, and thus actually know what the fuck you're talking about? Welcome. Are you a stupid casual who only watches the movies and TV shows? Then fuck off.

meh you're delusional. I never see rec threads. Feel free to make a screenshot of the catalog clogged with rec threads if you are so observant of them

And yet they greenlit that Barbie-tier DC Superhero girls show.

Oh good, you're here.

As horrible as this place is, everywhere else is worse.
