When did you see/find out about the Room for the first time?
For me, I find out about it through this beautiful girl I was dating, she was a friend of a friend, she knew I was into stupid stuff so she recommended it to me. Sadly our relationship ended because I fell in love with her, she only wanted a sex life, not a love life.

In 2013 I hosted a the room viewing party and I shouted at a guy who had actual autism because he was smoking indoors. I wasn't paying rent at the time.

The room is actually well shot. Tommy Wiseau is a decent director everything else is shit but it's technically fairly well made

The camera work is good the set design and the editing is shit tho they re-use a sex scene from a slightly different angle and the set on the greenscreened roof is like 10x10 no fucking tiny roofs like that exist and the actual apartment set changes the location of the door all the time.
Adult Swim used to show it on April fools day. Did get why during the commercials for it until i saw it and realized what the joke was.

Found out about The Room when AICN called it one of the worst films of the years. Little did they know it would become a cult classic.

The Room is a genuinely interesting, and dare I say artistic film because Tommy put so much of himself into it, lending the movie some pathos. It's fucking hilarious, but it's also got some layers to it, however subconscious they may be. That's why things like Sharknado are truly terrible, cynical films that have no soul and are actively trying to be "so bad it's good" with eight screens of irony.

I remember hearing about it on imdb back in the 2000s or so, but didn't have much interest in it. It wasn't until 2013 when my interest in the movie picked up when Opie and Anthony started talking about it, then my school got obsessed with it right after, and I finally saw it in the summer of '14.

A friend of mine recommended we watch it after we finished a long series of MST3K reruns. He didn't tell me how bad it was and for the first third or so I didn't want to say anything because I was afraid of hurting his feelings.
Tommy had a real cinematographer, multiple camera operators and a script supervisor who had some idea how to direct a scene. The Disaster Artist even credits Sandy with directing the movie.
Tommy didn't do shit but ruin every scene.
I heard about it from an internet friend in like...2007? 2008? It was a few years after it got big in LA but a few years before it got really popular
I think I first saw it, weirdly enough, on an /x/ stream in around 2010/2011. We watched this and Birdemic. It all had me in tears.
I was getting into Rifftrax and they had this commentary and I had no idea what the movie was. So that was the only way I actually saw it, was with commentary.
I can't really watch bad movies without joking commentary, it feels like I'm wasting precious minutes of my life.
