Game Of Thrones Star Admits He Had No Idea What Was Going On During Filming

Stephen Dillane, who appeared in four seasons of Game of Thrones as Stannis Baratheon, is coming clean and admitting that he wasn't really clear on what was happening while starring on the series. In fact, he had to rely on his co-star Liam Cunningham, who plays Ser Davos Seaworth, to help guide him through confusing scenes.

"Liam Cunningham is so passionate about the show. He invests in it in a way I think is quite moving, but it wasn't my experience," Dillane says in an interview with The Times. "I was entirely dependent on Liam to tell me what the scenes were about--I didn't know what I was doing until we'd finished filming and it was too late. The damage had been done. I thought no one would believe in me and I was rather disheartened by the end. I felt I'd built the castle on non-existent foundations."

Regardless of how Dillane feels about his portrayal, there's no taking away from the major role he played in building the Game of Thrones universe. That said, the actor still doesn't quite get it--even now. "I've flicked [the show] on [since leaving] to see if I could figure out what was going on, but I couldn't," he admits.

thta's ok, neither did Stannis

I am glad /ourguy/ never gave a shit about this reddit show.

...

>clueless
>gives better performances than all other cast members

really makes you think

>stannis
>star
loling

>Davos still helping his King IRL

based

...

This really doesn't help my theory that he's coming back in season 8

based

Probably not a coincidence that one of the best actors on the show was one who completely ignored D&D

Watch this scene:
youtube.com/watch?v=0sx8Yu_n23c

Are Liam and Dillane method actors?

This has been his first interview on that role for like... 2 years now?

>Game of Thrones plot
>too confusing
Doesn't really help the stereotype that actors are clueless airheads who take themselves way too seriously.

So what you're saying is there's a chance?

I mean, it's possible. I'd never give out hope, my only question is why they'd bring him back for the last season.

He probably meant "clueless" in the sense of
a) Whats Stannis's arc?
b) Why are we doing this?
c) Why should the audience care about what we're doing?

D&D don't know shit about writing, and it probably shows in the directions they give to the actors

Redemption arc. He will arrive with Euron as a high-level mercenary in the Gold Company, only to recognize Jon Snow as the rightful king and work with him. Give him a dramatic death where he burns himself alive fighting walkers. Satisfying arc instead of just being truncated to fit more bad guys in

Was it autism?

What a fucking brainlet

Literally perfect casting.

>The Stannis arc is confusing
See

>doesn't care about stupid reddit show
>brainlet
really makes you think

>hey guys, I just wanna say my character and his arc doesn't make a lot of sense
>what a problematic fella, better kill his character off

Maybe, but it sounds more to me like he's just an old man who cannot follow all these confusing fantasy names. My mother had trouble reading the Harry Potter novels for the same reason (though she liked the movies just fine).

Id be fucking confused too. Dabid hands you the script for an episode and hes got you burning shireen 4 no raisn. The only thing he says about it is "forgive me"

so what you're telling me is.. Stannis is actually dead?

Stop whining about Reddit.

>defending the brainlet who found the reddit show for normies too hard to follow
Found the second brainlet

Stannis's arc is confusing in the sense that it's poorly written and pointless. It makes you wonder what D&D were trying to do

based stannis

The only brainlet is you pal

hate to give them credit, but if he didn't know what was going on in the scenes that just means he was directed well and they got what they needed out of his acting. it's just a job after all

not and argument.

>not and argument

Stannis was poorly written in the books too so it's certainly not D&D's fault. It baffled me that he became such a well liked character in the show.

>Stannis's arc is confusing
Kill yourself right now

HUH

So it was Method Acting

They're meth actors, which means they do a lot of meth.

>Stannis was poorly written in the books too so it's certainly not D&D's fault. It baffled me that he became such a well liked character in the show
Lobotomy_wojak.bmp

>reads the first 4 words of a post and nothing else then responds with "kill yourself"
hm

BLEACHED

hes obviously false flagging so his season 8 return will be a big surprise

Not an argument.

run out of your funny meme images?

it's like arguing with a wall

Were you trying to argue?

It's weird because his death scene was the very definition of one of those "We're making it look like he died but cutting away from his death at the last second so that we can reveal later on that he didn't die" scenes. But it doesn't surprise me that this stupid show written by idiots who think they're more clever than they are would have a scene like that and do nothing with it.

isn't there a rule against avatarfagging

Yes, just report rulebreaking posts.

there should be, both these fags should kill themselves

I'm pretty sure this is all old news.

I recall there being an interview during season 2/3 where he mentions that D&D never told him anything about his scenes or character, and he had no idea what the story was or what his character was doing. It's pretty clear that D&D don't only hate Stannis, they simply didn't give a shit about his story from the beginning.

How many posts constitute avatarfagging so I know when to switch it up?

He is a terrible and pointless character in the novels so this is one of the smartest things they have done.

Also, do you like Jude Law?

probably didn't read the books
probably only read the scenes he was actually in
not that unusual for an actor desu

let me just use a report that the mod will surely understand since you cant specify the reason

Ok, fair enough. I am willing to open a dialogue on this issue in order to provide you with the respect that you, a commenter on an anonymous anime image board, deserve. Let's begin with a simple question: Did you find the Stannis arc confusing?

he did a good job with what he was given and his character only became shit when the writers decided to dump him

I've reported posts like that and seen them deleted quite quickly so the mods clearly understand, but if you're really that worried all you have to do is create a thread on /qa/. It's the board you use to provide context to reports.

In fact, refresh the thread.

The Young Pope was kino.

So does Lawfag refer to Jude Law or is that just a coincidence?

Let's watch a movie
youtube.com/watch?v=Gw5JyOtxovo

That's pretty pathetic and embarrassing to admit as an actor. It says more about him than it does the show.

Why the fuck would someone make a two hour video about this?

Why not make a video about something important, like this:
youtube.com/watch?v=acLhqUzUgxc

Do you think he knows that people call him Stannis the Mannis?

...

/ourguy/ is magical

life imitates art

Stannis was one of the most beloved characters but the writers had no idea what to do with it so much like Cleganebowl IT FITS

It also fits Stannis' character. Stannis had no idea what was really going on, cluelessly being led along by his red witch.

I wish there were more scenes like this showing his internal struggles. Stannis overall was very one dimensional and unlikeable, regardless of what the contrarians on here think.

"Stannis wasn’t really anyone’s favorite character on Game Of Thrones, unless they were being ironic or are specifically drawn to mopey dudes who look like Ted Leo"

I have only watched the first season of the show but Stannis is easily the most interesting character in the books.

pretty sure he's retarded. most people in this thread trying to make it out like it was the writers fault, but i remember when he did the iron bank scene and there was rumours that he had no idea what the green screen was and couldnt wrap his head around it. he's functionally retarded.
