/trek/

Episodes that make little sense and are silly, but have pretty cozy scenes edition

comfy episode. they didn't even have to shoot anyone, they just had to play craps to get out of there

Was it cheating, /trek/?

yeah it was comfy how they figured the whole thing out

it was one of the first TNG episodes I saw and it was really charming, desu.
no. Keiko was pretty much throwing those two together.

What am I in for lads?

Getting kind of nervous

...

this
it's pretty obvious keiko wants him to cheat to justify going full roastie in front of him.

You will be assimilated into The Continuum.

Just start it already.

I need more reaffirmation that it's worth it.

>tfw no Riker brain juice to drink

>It's a casino episode

Non trekkie here. Are there any other trope episodes like a beach episode, a beauty pageant episode, a Hollywood episode?

no

there are several Western episodes, some of them fun, some boring. also
>it's a nazi episode
>it's a courtroom drama episode
>it's an undercover identity episode
>it's a time travel episode (VERY common)
and so on. I guess there were a few episodes you can count as beach episodes, but the one I'm thinking of (the DS9 episode, the shitty one where Worf goes full retard) is maybe closer to a vacation/time off episode.

>it's a timelines/dimensions are shifting and everyone thinks the shifter is insane episode

>streaming ent s1
mad man

just watched casino heist episode from ds9
episode is called Badda-Bing, Badda-Bang

>beach episode

There's the holiday pleasure planet Risa, doesn't crop up more than 2 or 3 times though.

>in a child's holodeck program
>Janeway: Did i ever tell you how i flooded this entire forest?
Jesus Christ Janeway

the folksy country bullshity intro is probably what cemented in my mind that enterprise wasn't for people who actually liked star trek.

>They told us about your kind at the Academy
"Ohh! Marone, the stugots on this fuckin' slope!"

Emergence was comfy
I'm not the biggest fan of the holodeck eps usually

it grows on you and fits well with the premise. i just hate how they kept speeding it up in later seasons to squeeze more commercials in

tonally the episode was pretty weird, but in some ways I like that. kinda reminded me of season one (which I liked though I feel more as a period piece).

I always liked Shore Leave for its silliness

Remember that time when Rom wrote a holoplay?
>"I must be loyle to my Nagus."

>it grows on you

As do fungi and tumors if you let them.

Ok, I fucking laughed hard.

yeah but there are good kinds of fungi

What didn't make sense user? The episode was pretty clear what happened

>tonally the episode was pretty weird
yeah thats exactly what it is. kind of unsettling but set against the comfiness of the orient express.

>You're only as good as you're last envelope, Rom. You know that.

don't engage the holodeck user

Who was in the wrong here?

>Archer, you never had the makings of a Varsity Athlete

First time I gave Enterprise a try in late 2001 and this came on I instantly muted the TV not believing what I was hearing since it was so awful and filled with disappointment until the intro was over.
Funnily since then I was able to either mute, pause, skip or leave the room quickly enough before I ever got to hear what came after "a long road".
Sure, I rather watch any other Star Trek but I think it's still funny that in soon 2 decades I was able to avoid 99% of the intro song.

>tiny autistic joys of every day life

waiting for the mspaint memes

go away

no

>It was a retirement colony!

How do I convince coworker DS9 is good?

I convinced him to watch TNG and he liked it, but he dropped DS9 after pilot, can't blame it, it is a shitty pilot and to make it worse season 1 is really weak.

tell him it's better than TNG

The Oceans 11 vibe in this was fantastic

God, those fucking lips.

hmm, I don't know if theres a good way of convincing him. If he'd like a Star Trek with a long-running plotline, then focus on that. Say it's a change of pace and it's pretty interesting. Also assure him the acting gets better. That was one of the major things that annoyed me from the start with DS9, TNG had more cast members who fell into their role more easily (even if their characters did undergo an evolution of sorts, i.e Picard became less of a grumpy old man and Data became less emotional).

What else is he into?

>it grows on you
No, it doesn't. I've never liked Rod Stewart and never will.
Archer's Theme should've been the main title theme.

>tfw no more shatner movies

take that stick out of your ass

Soong for dismantling Lore and not shooting the pieces into a star

cast him

i don't wanna

sounds like a good argument, it is the only star trek series other than ENT that is more serialized and easier to watch many episodes on a row too

mmm, basically things I don't like very much or at all is what I remember now, I mean he talked about "Pablo Escobar", "Naruto" and capeshit, I think he also watches Mr Robot?

resist is futil, u be assimilant,
borg is

Duet is a fantastic episode and it's pretty early on, let him get to that at least before giving up

Would you fuck an alien?

he's blameless

well it was good now that fag is here

how is that even a question?

stereotyping jews and getting away with it.

Would you not?

Could she read sexual desires of her patients and co workers or was she just really professional?

why so serious trek?

God Damn, I can’t wait for Tarentino to resurrect this franchise and bury the Star Wars cancer that Disneyland has foisted upon us.

This will never happen, Discovery already happened sadly.

I feel like TarantinoTrek is either going to be incredible, or absolutely irredeemable trash

>hoping Quintin Tarentino will save Star Trek

Only good thing about that episode is the death of Yar

u would, u nerds

Left absolutely, right no way

How do they explain Data aging, when he's an Android?

The one on the left I would, the one on the right I just couldn't, unless very, very drunk.

depends on how hard i have to work for it and if they do threesomes

This episode is why I work in a casino. Even dealt craps for two years.

it's a package

um, well, I could do it once with a couple of whiskies, can't be that bad

Is Harry Mudd /ourguy/?

Absolute kino in the best episodes. And still better than any of the shit on today in the worst episodes.

I envy you so much, I wish I could watch DS9 for the first time again.

Well, at least I have Babylon 5 and I only watched 13 episodes, it's something.

Smear, the runt of Spots litter with an axe to grind.

Tng reboot in the works, they already cast Geordi

I'm not even done with season 2 of TNG and it's absolutely kino

Not sure if I should wait until i'm done with TNG before I start with DS9

Yes

Start ds9 when they overlap

What season does that occur in?

season 6. there are guides online that show when exactly the overlap begins, you can follow that.

Ideally, you should start DS9 when you reach season 6 of TNG, that's what I did, it is the best way to not miss any references.

6, after Chain of Command: Part Two.

Fuck bro I forget. I want to say 6? But I'm not sure. Google it friendo

>tfw three episodes of tng left

I don't want it to be over. At least I have a few movies left.

It's a those darn kids are up to their usual shenanigans at the shopping mall in outer space episode.

DS9 sucked. I mean truly sucked. It was awful.

how depressing is it?

There are two types of Star Trek fans: those who hate The Royale, and those who do not.
Those who hate The Royale are plebs passing off as patrician, making half-thought out criticisms about every plot point and constantly spewing vitriol about characters like Troi, Crusher, Kira and pretty much anyone with a vagina. They tend to feel that certain series are better than the rest, objectively. The only Star Trek episodes they like are ones they see as "high concept" or "strong sci-fi" aka lots of pew pew scenes and technobabble speeches.
Those who do not hate The Royale are well balanced individuals that appreciate a healthy focus on both characterization and sci-fi. Ask them about a character or the morale debate of an episode and these superfans will both delight and educate. They tend to see the strengths and weaknesses of a series, finding enjoyment in each, much to the annoyance of their more insidiously hateful and autistic counterparts identified as those who hate The Royale.

Thanks, right now i'm in the middle of watching the original series and TNG since both are sort of separate from each other

But man, some TNG episodes are absolute pure kino, whilst some are meh. Seems to really depend on the episode.

t. middle of season 2

>tfw this was really a man using an image inducer who was trying to find out about Human love

Watching with a quasi-critical eye,U simply cannot take the concept of the LT. CMDR. DATA seriously anymore. At first I started making my LT. CMDR. DATA posts as a joke ("Why don't they call it X instead of a LT. CMDR. DATA? The name is misleading") but I'm starting to get annoyed whenever TASHA YAR uses the LT. CMDR. DATA. I just can't stop thinking about all the plot holes, the unbelievable decisions that people make, the fact that it's possible for the technology to work flawlessly while not responding to controls because of some major spatial anomaly, there's so much about the LT. CMDR. DATA that doesn't make even a little bit of sense. And then there's the fucking Doctor. They put a bunch of DOCTOR CRUSHER in a cave system to mine DICKS or something, but they can't set up POSITRONIC BRAINS around ENTERPRISE? Actually, we know that they CAN and DO do this--in that episode with the BORG, we see it done, it's the entire plot--and no amount of handwaving can make me believe that there is some reason that makes sense diegetically NOT to have done this before. And the LT. CMDR. DATA almost never malfunctions; when it does, they can fix it, no problem. It's even more unbelievable than WORF'S ability to operate on PRUNE JUICE without actually being a BARTENDING genius like GUINAN was. Why the fuck can't they make more PRUNE JUICES? Why the fuck can't PRUNE JUICE experience emotions but WESLEY can? If a LT. CMDR. DATA replicates matter on demand, why can't the replicate and HOLODECK? Why does that replicated matter lose cohesion when it leaves the LT. CMDR. DATA if it's replicated, rather than projected? Who decided that the LT. CMDR. DATA was a good idea?

>At least I have a few movies left.

Don't get your hopes up, they are mostly awful.

Generations only selling point is Kirk+Picard duo
First Contact is fun, but overrated, some say it ruined the borg though, be warned.
Insurrection is the best one of the lot for me, I consider it underrated.
Nemesis is ambitious but felt cheap.

>bing crosby is tasha yar's gradfather

wtf?

DOCTOR, DOCTOR, GIMME THE NEWS!
I GOT A BAD CASE OF KILLIN' YOU!
