Is the Romantic Comedy a dead genre? What killed it? I never liked them, but it feels strange that there's no romantic comedies anymore. What happened?

Feminism. People became way more cynical about the idealized version of love rom coms had. Now those movies are replaced by raunchy comedies about girls trying to find success profesionally

Man=Woman happened
The movie in OP would be deemed soggy knees today.
/thread, fpbp

Love=rape these days.
Who wants to have white children anyway? All they're gonna do is enslave minorities and rape the plant.

Sometimes romantic comedies had the people in them acting as really creepy outside the emotional manipulation of the movies

>Who wants to have white children anyway? All they're gonna do is enslave minorities and rape the plant.
That was a great logical jump

Monogamy stopped being atractive. Love as we knew it is dead and gone.

Is it a decent gooseflick ? Idk if it's worth watching or no.

>Sometimes romantic comedies had the people in them acting as really creepy outside the emotional manipulation of the movies
people in love act like creeps.
If you're both in love, stalking is okay, rape is okay, doing creepy shit to each other is okay, randomly grabbing boobs is okay, putting a finger up their but at 1AM is okay

it is

Yes, basically goose as an effay coach and pickup artist

Too many genders these days. They cant decide the two main characters who would offend less the majority of ppl.

Yes, although the babysitter/kid subplot is Sandler tier cringe worthy

>if you're in love rape is ok
it is tho?

yep. Rape basically doesn't exist if you both like each other.
Feel like humping her while she's sleeping in the middle of the night? Go for it. Feel like sucking on her tits while she's making breakfast? Go for it.
She doesn't like it? No problem, she's going to assist you anyway.

>yep. Rape basically doesn't exist if you both like each other.
If there's consent there's no rape you donut

She'll help you even if she doesn't want it. That's rape.

A modern romcom would just be hours of girls swiping on Tinder profiles

Everything is rape

Social media ban when

nice memepost
btw social media can't be banned

Movies going is in decline. People are only going out to see blockbusters. RomComs don’t make money anymore.

Emily Jean is amazing

The genre peaked with movies starring Hugh Grant in the 90s (Notting Hill, Two weddings and a funeral, Mickey Blue Eyes) and Love Actually in 2003. The last good romantic comedy was The Holiday in 2006 and Music & Lyrics in 2007.

BE BETTER THAN THE GAP

SAY IT WITH ME

this. also nerd culture became mainstream so women watch capeshit and action schlock now, saving hollywood the trouble.

You are SO wrong.
Have you seen Laggies?
About Time - 2013
Atonement - 2007
ESOTSM - 2004
My Blueberry Nights
Garden State
The Perks of being a Wallflower
The Notebook - 2004
The Time Traveler's Wife - 2009
Tumbledown - 2015

Juno

All great, but these are something else:
>About Time - 2013
>My Blueberry Nights
Wong Kar Wai!
>Garden State
>The Time Traveler's Wife - 2009
>Juno
written by a literal prostitute and is actually good.

Watch anime

I can add some more.

The Big Sick [2017] ( Though I didn't think this was as great as the ratings it has)
La La Land [2016]
Sing Street [2016]
Paterson [2016]
Our Times [2015]
Man Up [2015]
5 to 7 [2014]
Enough Said [2013]

maybe it's true that bad ultra-high budget movies are at an all time high.
But there are still good movies being made. You just have to look.

I've ignored all of those except Man Up, whiich I watched because boobs.
