I liked it a lot.

Only pissbaby manchildren hate this movie. #resist

i have marathoned the webms on Sup Forums and its shit

Rogue One>TFA>TLJ

If we're all honest for a moment.

I liked more than I disliked. The Finn/Poe/Rose/Reistance stuff was really boring to me, but I liked the Luke/Rey/Kylo character stuff

Yeah I actually agree with your sentiment even though you're being disingenuous
Nah rogue one sucked.
I too have gripes no doubt but Kylo/Rey interaction was excellent every scene. Loved the risks it took.

Nobody else liked it, Disney.

It's just clearly the best Star Wars movie by a light year and everyone who says otherwise has really dumbass reasons

I haven't seen it but I know I don't like it

>Nah rogue one sucked.
why

yeah it was a lot of fun, I enjoyed it much more than I did TFA
The Marvel quips were lame and it would have been better without them

Loved it.

I like it even more because a community full of memester idiots, pedophiles and reddit rejects hates it.

This is the most fun I've had on Sup Forums in a long time.

>The Finn/Poe/Rose/Reistance stuff was really boring to me, but I liked the Luke/Rey/Kylo character stuff
This, but the opposite. I'm sick of jedi, sith, dark side, light side, the force, lightsabers, etc.

youtube.com/watch?v=Mdm8rpv045U

No you're not allowed to like it

We flooded RT with fake negative reviews to bring down the audience score and everything

Agreed.

I'm convinced Sup Forums doesn't actually understand what they watched so they got mad

Why did you love it?

>people prefer JJ's dutch angle snap zoom filled turd to TLJ
I mean sure VIII was shit but TFA is worse by every metric

Rogue One sucked because everyone died and I didn't care at all.

>everyone died
So you enjoyed it up until that point?

Im not even a big SW fan but watched it opening day just because i had the time and figured i would avoid spoilers

Its shit, simple as. The flaws exist in every single scene. You could write essays on the problems of this movie
Its a bloated mess and i expected nothing yet still came away disappointed and empty

>you could write essays
I hereby dare you

I saw some posts on twitter that there was some sort of really deep cut reference from the EU in the movie. Did i miss it or were they wrong?

IS DAVID LYNCH'S DUNE BAD

I liked it despite its many flaws.

This post smells of tuna.

>Nah rogue one sucked.
Why?

I liked it much more over 7 and 8

>Rogue One sucked because everyone died and I didn't care at all.
I kinds was teary-eyed in the end. The ending really moved me (i got emotionally attached to every character).

In TLJ i didn't give two shit about what was happening. Actually wanted the movie to be over but they kept dragging it out.

It's really the best Star Wars film I've ever seen. I'm taking my bull a third time to see it tonight.

Does Poe even show up in this movie?

If you look past the superficial narrative and cultural continuity, The Last Jedi works like any other Millennial action film. Written and directed by indie Rian Johnson, who retires his neo-noir specialty for his own youthful fantasy of trying on George Lucas’ space boots, The Last Jedi is largely tongue-in-cheek. Johnson is incapable of taking the organic themes seriously. Sarcasm is the coinage of modern commerce, not Lucas’s corny family commitment and nationalism. So Johnson’s ironic dialogue occasionally deflates the meaning behind derring-do, while attempting to revive it. All the relationships are flip, except for Rey’s with Luke Skywalker, in her obligatory fealty as she attempts to revive his sense of mission. But as critic Gregory Solman pointed out, this isn’t reflected in Kylo Ren’s personal conflict; Kylo gets reduced to Good-versus-Evil pouting.

Better than TFA, worse than R1, still well below the OT and the prequels besides maybe AOTC.

It's weird, and I don't know how to say this without sounding like a complete shill, but if you ignore all the extremely lore destroying plot points (hyperdrive as weapon, force ghost lightning, force projection, retarded as fuck carrie poppins) its decent. I thought they did a good job toning Rey back and not making her such an unlikable mary sue.

Too bad with the shitty fucking Marvel quips which were worse than in TFA.

No.
Understand that I'm not simply referring to the final mission where every main character dies. Forrest Whitaker dies very early on. Waste of a character and waste of run time, his relationship with Jin is underdeveloped. Jin's dad dies, they're relationship and specifically his character is also underdeveloped. Before I have a chance to emotionally connect with anyone or anything in the movie it's killed off, or the focus shifts. Indian goggles guy gets introduced then immediately brain wiped. Theres too many characters, most of them do nothing and then they die.

I loved it. Fuck all the sexist racists who hate it.

The Last Jedi follows fanboy tradition, in its Harry Potter knock-off (Rey’s concern about her absent parents); the PC, multi-culti play of Finn’s partnership with Rose Tico (Kelly Marie Tran); the take-charge feminism of purple-haired Vice Admiral Amilyn Holdo (Laura Dern evoking The Hunger Games); and the mutant evil of Supreme Leader (Andy Serkis), tapping into Lord of the Rings CGI. Given this patchwork of bad influences, the film lacks style.

The issues of maintaining civilization and taming the hubristic impulses in individual characters and throughout the universe were trivialized into kid stuff. Juvenilia has become the series’ raison d’être, and touching on the audience’s childhood affection is The Last Jedi’s special weapon. “You’re just a child in a mask” one angsty character is taunted, and, here, that mask has been modeled after the Marvel franchise — as if the child has become father to the child.

I went to the European Premier, I was horrified to find out Poe is a manlet

You are totally entitled to like Rogue One. I just didn't. I'm surprised to hear that you enjoyed it more than 7-8 and that you were attached to the characters. I'm interested why though because my reaction was the opposite.

You can't judge a whole 2 and a half hour long movie from some Sup Forums webms you retard.

i liked desu, it is better than TFA but the plot really is horrible, there is barely any arcs going for and the whole conflict of the movie only happened because Laura Dern refused to just say "hey poe we need you to calm down this is our plan just chill it is all fine"

I guess they needed extra scenes with Carrie Fisher and that is why it felt kinda rushed it but it was OK.

The porgs were trash, the quips were horrible but it is a decent star wars movie

Correct opinion

Gonna have to let it settle a bit but overall I liked it, some questionable plot decisions but people saying it's awful are just reactionary.

Nope. Felt like a steaming shit was dropped on my chest, then a blanket was pulled over my head that had a dogfart in it.

I'm neither of those posters but heres what I loved about it:
The Kylo/Rey/Luke story was great. I was very invested. I loved the scene where Rey, on the island, is tempted by the dark side. The finger snapping going up and down the line and then catching itself on the downbeat full circle was great. The explanation of the force (Luke to Rey) was awesome, the visual accompaniment especially. Loved when rey shoots at kylo while they're force communicating. Really sold their communication as being tangible. All the scenes involving rey/luke/kylo I loved

It was ok. Visually stunning, pretty fast paced (at least compared to that arduous slog Rogue One) and I liked most of the delivery.

That being said, the plot was convoluted and fairly nonsensical at points. I also didn't like how they don't have consistent rules on how fire and explosions work and I felt like Finn and Rose AND Poe and Rey were both forced relationships.
Overall, 7/10, don't go if you want a deep, reality grounded plot

Good but it needs more shots of the new pathetic Luke alongside the youthful hero Luke to really drive home just how much they ruined him.

Poe and Rey ship? Did I blink and miss it?

Yeah, I loved the part where Leia was in the vacuum of space and used to force to get back on the ship. Great movie.

It is either that or Kylo Ren raping her.

The good:
>everything to do with Luke
>del toro's character
>Rey/Kylo dynamic
>Yoda's scene
>most of the action scenes
>the meta commentary on both the OT and the new films
>snoke being btfo without a backstory, causing theorists everywhere to ree
>not being a beat for beat remake of V and actually attempting to be it's own film

The bad
>purple hair McGee
>Finn/Rose side plot that went no where
>Most of Rey's acting
>phasma

The ugly
>Leia space flight
>Rose
>that one chick whose nose filled up half the frame whenever she was on screen. I swear to god Rian Johnson must have hated this actress, because every shot she was in accentuated and focused on that fucking beak.
>the fact that nothing really happens besides snoke dying (this includes Rey and Kylo's arcs which really went no where) overall, the plot felt very unfocused and disjointed

7/10, a step in the right direction.

>The good:
>>everything to do with Luke
End your own life this very day mi amigo

>>everything to do with Luke
>>snoke being btfo without a backstory, causing theorists everywhere to ree

disagree with those 2 the rest i more or less agree with you that is a good review

What didn't you like about Luke's treatment?

Truly classy pasta

"Luke" was determined to kill his nephew before he had even done anything wrong out of fear of him becoming a dark lord.
OT Luke wouldn't kill the actual dark lord Vader because he had hope that anybody, even Vader, could be persuaded to become good again.
It's not a legitimate interpretation of Luke Skywalker, I hate it, Mark Hamill hates it, and anybody who likes the OT hates it. It's bad fanfic at best.

Fucking loved it. 2nd best in saga behind Empire

ITT shills coping with the avalanche of negative responses to TLJ.

Aww, (You) made your own safespace! I'm so proud of (You), sweetie.

Idk about determined to kill him. He said specifically it was impulse, followed by regret, and then retribution (I forget the specific phrasing.) Luke is human and he constantly makes mistakes. Mistakes trying to do the right thing. He is earnest.

I double dare you.

Was he determined though? He told Rey it was a flash that very quickly passed after he looked into Ren's head. True in thd climax he does say he can't turn him back to good, but he 'fought' Ren as a ghost, so his plan therefore couldn't have been to kill him.

gay

I really, honestly enjoyed it.

I had tears in my eyes from how hard I was laughing. I remember when SuperLeia happened, I looked over at my brother, whose mouth was agape, completely dumbfounded. I cant remember the last time I laughed that hard. It was so surreal. Blue tiddie Milk, Luke's nun muppets, Muppet yoda, Space horses, Poe's Yo-Mama joke.. It was seriously entertaining, I had tears in my eyes from laughing from start to finish. I was completely flabbergasted how awful this movie was.

Then Luke is just lying his ass off the whole face-off against Ren to waste time. I don't like that either

Don't get the hate, way better than the last two utter piece of shit movies

To buy* time, to make amends and to say goodbye

Anyone got a stream in English yet?

>>not being a beat for beat remake of V and actually attempting to be it's own film

Ummm, no sweetie.

Put ESB in your VCR, go to the end, and watch it on rewind.

Luke's character arc and death was pure kino. Only EU/prequelfags who'd rather see him go start a fucking Jedi Hogwarts or some silly shit says otherwise. The casino plot is indefensible though. That was pure garbage that could've been completely cut

>Muppet yoda
Would you rather have fucking frowning, angry CGI Yoda from the prequels? This movie had many problems but Yoda's portrayal was not one of them

watch me

I liked the force skype scenes and the casino planet itself

everything else was garbage

I liked it a lot. It reinvigorated my dying interest in the franchise after TFA practically killed it for me.
That being said, I do have gripes.
I'm tired of seeing the characters I loved in my youth dying just so the new kids can be justified in their existence. Ackbar's death was a waste. Leia's turning into Snyder Superman was retarded. Not ending the Jedi with Luke was a huge missed opportunity.

I didn't have a problem, it just felt so jarringly out if place. Like okay, let's do practical effect Yoda, meanwhile we are green screening fucking rocks lmao. Btw, you understand that whole scene was an allegory for destroying/letting go of the OT right?

The truly only indefensible things in this film are the creature designs.

>Crystal Critters
Just use white dogs. Dogs with some make up. Strap on spikes or some shit if you really need to.
>Porgs
Real birds, or alternatively puppets. Less cutsie screen time.
>Racing horses
ideally drop them entirely, along with the casino arc. Failing that, Horses with costumes. Horses are bitches and will wear anything. So armor them up but instead of armor prosthesis/makeup.
>Tit Cow
....

Tit cow was kino of the highest order, my friend

> >is big bang tier

s'why there is no recommended fix.

>It was better than TFA, but worse than RotJ
I'll expand on my points for (You)s

I already agree with (you) but I'm ready. I want one point, but not the most obvious one. Rather the most personal, or esoteric one

Yes. It's pretty great overall. It does have problems with pacing and Luke's characterization, there's no denying it, but I applaud the risks they took that make all the people who spent years theorizing about Snoke, Rey's parents, """Grey""" Jedi, etc look like complete retards. It's a hilarious deconstruction of JJ's mystery box by going "look, it was fucking nothing all along, you got worked up over trying to make connections between things that were never there".

Solid 5/10

I was basically a flipped version of ESB, it was solidified when one of the troopers picked up some of the white stuff and said "Salt"
It was basically them saying "You thought it was Hoth? Haha you fool how stupid do you think we are?"

In terms of characters
>Rey was awful, again
>Kylo was worse than in TFA, but was fun at the latter 3rd of the movie
>Finn and Rose were just a breather from the main conflict - but i didn't liek them
>Poe was boring
>Hux was so good in this movie - he was the only one taking his job seriously
>Luke was basically Jimmy Saville/Cosbie - the Archtypical Hero that is now warped for no real reason in universe
>Yoda was cool
>That final Crusier scene was mint, but doesn't work in universe

I loved it, I especially liked the scene where Luke Skywalker, now a wise jedi master milks dinosaur tits

Okay but i don't understand all the critics loved it

I am honestly surprised at how much people are hating this movie. I think that reaction will flip at some point and people will warm up to it in hindsight. It really isn't bad at all. Does some things incredibly right actually. Namely, Ben and Rey. And the way Snoke is killed is pottery. He thinks of himself as better than Palpatine, but gets killed the same way basically. Only Ben made the choice in the opposite direction of Vader, killed him out of lust for power rather than love and redemption.

holy shit, this is better than the entire movie.

Because they don’t care how it fits into the rest of the story and they’re plebs who can’t consider alternatives that were in play. That and they’re too scared to piss off Disney and get blackballed.

WHERE CAN I WATCH A STREAM?!!
TELL ME!! I JUST WANT TO SEE THE TRAINWRECK IN MY HOME

There are a total of ZERO lightsaber duels in this movie. To call it StarWars is an absolute joke, it's shit wrapped in a title. It is a cash grab with little to no effort put in.

who the fuck cares

>I NEED EVERY ELEMENT OF SW IN EVERY MOVIE

you drooling, service-demanding imbecile.

fuck every single person that enjoys this garbage

I loved it!! Best movie since ep 3. no sarcasm.

what was that guy saying? anyone got the vid?
